Garth taps his finger against his chin as he thinks about how to phrase his reply.

"Now ah hope this don' offend, but ah hear th' Sith are a p'ticular special type o' asshole. But all th' times ah've crossed yer path, y' left me with one thought. Ye'r a man who'd do anythin' fer his family, an as someone who didn' have much family until a few weeks ago, ah c'n respect that an understand it."

"If that's what it takes t' be a Thul, then ah'm yer guy."

"The Sith can be horrifying and I know that I have been. But even when I was doing things that would never cross the mind of most sane individuals I was also very loyal to my family. It is how I was raised," he said with a nod.

"It actually caused a fair amount of headache when my master and some of my comrades at the academy were at odds with each other, because I refused to turn on either side. Ended up costing someone more than anyone should ever have to pay. But I won't betray those that I have named comrade. And I live my life for family."

"I don't demand it of anyone else, it's my own personal belief. But the blackguard held to a very similar belief before I joined. I think that's why we got on so well even when we disagreed on philosophy early. But in Thul, you will find many that are similarly devoted to protecting this family and without regard for personal cost."

"Y' might not demand it, but it seems t' me the way ah've seen th' members of yer family care fer each other, that ah'd be honored t' join y'all."

"Ah don' know no other way than t' give all of mahself t' everything ah do. Listening t' what you say about yerself an' the blackguard, ah think ah could fit in here just fine."

"So do you plan on staying in the Republic Navy as a career? Or are you planning on changing things up?" It seemed like pure curiosity, rather than a suggestion or anything.

"Well, Major Organa, he were gonna give me a interview few Ghost Squadron at th' next intake. We served t'gether at Bankor an' ah thought that was were mah future were headed." He answers honestly.

"Now, well maybe the ADF might be more suitable? Ah dunno, lots t' consider. Been a bit of a whirlwind this last week or so."

"I always wondered what some of the Republic model fighters handled like. Still haven't gotten to try any out. But if you've been similarly curious, I could arrange something. My squadron uses some of the best models the Empire operates," he suggests as a possibility. Not an offer to be in his personal squadron. He's not trying to become Garth's overlord or mast, just the possibility of taking an enemy fighter model for a spin.

Garth looks at him with a raised eyebrow. "Ah've seen most of those models first hand, an professional curiosity def'nitely has me int'rested." He replies as he thumbs his chin in thought.

"But...well let's take it slow. Ah've only spoke t' ya less than a handful o' times and ye're already tryna get me inta yer cockpit." He finally decides with a wink.

"I'm just saying, I can get you into an Imperial fighter. If you happened to bring a Republic fighter by I wouldn't say no if the chance to return the favor came up," he said with a smirk. "We had a few back in the empire, but I was never an instructor so I didn't get to fly one."

"We used them to get use to fighting against their specs."

That garnered an immediate reaction and Garth took a step back and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"After this....after ALL THIS that has happened today, you ask me to...betray th' Navy and...treason is not as popular a word in the Republic as it might be in your Empire." He shakes his head vehemently and turns to leave.

"There are many things I would do fer her love, Duke Thul...but ah won't do that."

"I think you misunderstood me," he says, actually looking insulted. "I was asking for a ride in one. Because I didn't want to go through the trouble of acquiring one. I'm a Republic and Alderaanian citizen, a head of my house, and the houses have military equipment. I could order them for the house."

"Do you still see me as that much of an enemy that asking for a joyride in tech that I can legally get access to is treason in your eyes?" he asks. There is a bit of pain in his expression. "After everything I've suffered and done for my family and my world, for my home, you still see me as my past."

Garth paused in his retreat, and slowly turned around. "Maybe mah perspective's tinted from recent events." Garth conceded, "but some prejudices are hard t' lose, 'specially among us military types."

"Looks like there's def'nitely gonna be some adjustin' on mah part, but it's not somethin' ah c'n just forget. After some time, after ah get t' know you better ah'll maybe b' able to get past it, but we own ALL our actions Duke, not just th' ones we choose t' be remembered by."

"I am aware of that," he replies. "I don't have any doubt that there will be people that will hate me for the rest of my life. But to be called a traitor hours after I commited my house's forces to save the Queen of Alderaan, my wife is recovering from being maimed and a madman and actual traitor attempted to murder my children in front of me," he shakes his head.
