It's The Ulgo Family (D0, Afternoon)

As the others rose to greet Yula, so did Kat, offering a bow and joining in with the greetings without making a fanfare of herself.

The missions. Right. It seemed like her family was very much approaching this festival with military precision... as expected; they didn't want this to fall into civil war either.

"The baroness is a skilled pilot I've heard, Garth. It seems you'll have something in common," Kat offered, carrying on the conversation as she returned to her seat and her tea. She really wished Yula had chosen a different spot for dressing the animal. "Is there anything we can do to assist you in the coming days, lady Yulastranza?"

This was a common trait that her father shared as well, doing things to keep people off-balance and watch as others squirmed. Like father, like daughter at least in this regard. Yula pulled out more innards and handed them to a waiting droid before responding, “It really depends on the field of contestants, Miyi is probably the biggest threat and if Wayne’s folksy charm shines through she may not be much of a problem.”

“Unless Joran isn’t made the heir then we are kriffed all over again, and father will be seeing red. Maybe you have some Jedi wisdom to keep things from getting too out of hand, Master Jedi?” The request seemed genuine, they may have been related but she knew the Jedi were to be respected.

Only mildly grossed out by the impromptu vivisection, Garth lends Yula a hand, literally.

"Never let it be said, ah ain't willing t' get mah hands a li'l dirty, Miss Yula. Ah'll repay th' faith yer father's shown in me, and if ah get th' opportunity ah'll speak yer praises t' the Lady Panteer 'n all."

“Put in a good word for Brannis in his quest for love,” she teased as he started to help her. She had moved on to skinning the creature now.

"Ah fear it'd all be fer naught Miss," Garth leans in a little closer, but whispers loud enough for those at the table to still hear.

"Have y'seen th' way he looks 't that ship o' his? Ah think he's already smitten." He adds as he slowly pulls back on the skin as Yula's blade expertly separates it from the flesh of her victim.

The Master Jedi considered her reply carefully, allowing Garth the time to chat a bit and help Yula with the beast.

"Speaking as a Jedi, I would say that the most important objective is to ensure peace and stability for Alderaan. House Ulgo uniting with House Panteer is one of the stronger ways to do this, but one should not dismiss the other Houses in this. House Organa and House Rist are also putting forward candidates for the royal twins - my suggestion would be to engage in diplomacy with these two first, to possibly arrange for prestigious matches for them in the future. Stability cannot be achieved if Ulgo and Panteer draws the ire of the other Houses in the coming week and the fallout of the Festival. Secondly, continue to foster good relations with the other Houses present. A united Alderaan will continue to stand with the Republic, and stand against the Empire."

At an opportune moment, Bran chimes in. "Also, Uncle Bouris... intimated," he says with care, conscious that Bouris Ulgo had probably never been so gentle as tio "intimate" anything in his life, "that I should build a relationship with Lady Jameela. In the event that the queen might, ah, surprise us, as Panteers sometimes do."

"A wise decision," the Jedi said, agreeing with the duke's strategy. "Lady Yulastranza becoming queen would be truest to the previous agreement, but... it would be prudent to be adaptive on this battlefield. Ulgo and Panteer united is the goal, after all, no?"

She stabbed the knife into the table and then took a towel from a waiting droid and cleaned her hands as they had finished the project. She said to the Jedi, “Well the best way to keep war out of our future is make sure father gets what he wants. Panteer might want to be more predictable in the future if they value stability.”

Another droid brought a cleaning basin as the creature was taken away to the kitchen or the freezer, it was not her concern at that point.

Yula said to Kat, “That’s one of the goals, Master Jedi.”

"Of course," Kat nodded, and stated the other goals; "peace, and continued alliance to the Republic too."

So much of this could've been avoided if Gaul Panteer had only stayed true to his duty. Kat didn't envy the position of the queen these days. "I will be visiting the Organa estates tomorrow, to speak with some of my fellow Jedi. I will take the opportunity while I'm there to speak with Major Niall Organa, to get an understanding of where House Organa is standing on the matter, and to gauge their interest in cooperation with House Ulgo."

"Don't they call him Captain Alderaan?" she said with an amused smile.

Kat chuckled softly, pausing to sip her tea. "I've heard that nickname, yes. You could hardly walk anywhere on Coruscant without seeing posters of him. Many places in the Outer Rim worlds too would show those same posters, in attempts to drive up recruitment outside the Core Worlds."

"Makes you wonder how that nickname came to be."

Brannis sniffs a little disdainfully at the nickname. Or jealously perhaps.

"Speaking of peace, and the... evolving field... How trustworthy do we believe our allies from House Rist to be? No doubt the assassins have their code of honor, but when services can still be bought..." He lets the implied question float for a moment. "With the weight of the empire behind them, Thul could have plenty of available resources."

"Rist wouldn't dare cross my father, they are cowards," Yulastranza said disdainfully.

"I don't think Rist has a reason to betray their alliance to House Ulgo at this point, but it's not an alliance one should take for granted. Alliances need to be maintained and nurtured, after all. We should consider working closely with House Rist, to see to that their needs are met as well - and to learn what they seek the most in the coming days," Kat offered, considering the matter with caution and care.

"Assassins?" Garth asks Brannis in a slightly quieter voice, almost as if the word itself might draw their attention. But ain't they nobles 's well? Y'all got some complex going's on round these parts cuz."

"Complex is one word for it," she replied as she finished cleaning her hands.

"I would not call them nobles, opportunists maybe... but noble, maybe in their minds."

"A noble house they are regardless," Kat remarked with her unflappable calm as she placed down her teacup. "And one that would be wise to keep in good favor. Perhaps Brannis will pay them a visit in the coming days, to speak with them further and learn how House Ulgo can best support them and continue to foster good relations? Or if not, I can always find the time for it. I will not be busy with wooing the Royal Twins, after all."

Yulastranza turned to look at Brannis to see his reply.

"Of course," Bran says, unconcerned. "I am happy to reach out to House Rist. Ensure that all is well as we launch into festival and no doubt hear more about the queen's succession plan." His smile looks mostly like the politician's fabrication that it is, but he shows no hesitation about meeting with their shadowy ally.
