"Can't be harder than fixing a vaporator on Er'Kit..." the woman murmured as she began to prune a few cords and jury-rig some others together.

"Hmm, I was talking to a computer expert earlier!" He looked at Kat. "Which does nothing to help us right now." An apologetic smile followed.

"This might be a case where turning it on and off again is NOT a good idea."

[Tethys Carrack]

While Kat begins fussing with the console, Tethys stands in the center of the old mess hall; she closes her eyes and steadies her breathing, listening to the currents of the living Force. Sometimes places where many people had once lived or worked still echo with the tones that life there had struck.

Mostly not, or not at a level Tethys can sense, but...one never knows. A moment of meditation will leave her mind clearer for whatever Kat finds.

The Force flowed through the place easily, it was old and there were many echoes she could feel. It had served so many purposes... so many different people have passed through these very halls.

The menu popped in and looked like she could at least pull a map unless she wanted to know the daily menu.

"Hmm, I was talking to a computer expert earlier!" He looked at Kat. "Which does nothing to help us right now." An apologetic smile followed.

"This might be a case where turning it on and off again is NOT a good idea."

"Does not help now, but thank you, professor. I might not be an expert, but I've done my share of small fixes here and there. Oh, I got it working." She seemed a bit surprised, but pleased.

"We have a map at least. Let's see what we have here..."

The map shows them in the Mess Hall there is a living area with large bays for people to sleep connected to this room then a hallway that leads to an Armory on one side and the other side has a Vault and then at the end of that hall is something labeled Bay #2.

"So we have... mess hall, that's where we are now. Living area, armory, a vault, and something labeled Bay number 2."

Taking out her datapad, Kat copied the map-data over to it, rather than trying to memorise it. "The living area seems to be connected to the mess hall, so if we continue forward that directon we'll get there, and through it to a hallway that leads to the vault and this bay."

"Excellent. Could be a hanger bay or a shuttle bay. I'm sure the vault and armory will have been cleaned up. Never know what might have been missed though." He started walking in the indicated direction, keeping an eye out for giant spiders or possible hidden alcoves.

Tethys lets her mind float up out of her meditation and crosses over to get her own look at the map.

"People stash all kinds of things in odd parts of communal living quarters, too," she volunteers. "Usually nothing valuable, but if it wasn't cleaned out to the wall studs we might find some interesting pieces of their lives tucked away."

Tucking the datapad away to keep one hand free at least, Kat continued with the others with the glowrod lighting the way.

"Hopefully no spiders tucked away in there..."

The next room had old rusted bunks and little light but what they brought.

Tethys lets her mind float up out of her meditation and crosses over to get her own look at the map.

"People stash all kinds of things in odd parts of communal living quarters, too," she volunteers. "Usually nothing valuable, but if it wasn't cleaned out to the wall studs we might find some interesting pieces of their lives tucked away."

((OOC: should we tackle the obvious first, the vault/armory?))

"Oh yes. It's true, you wouldn't believe the absolute stash of personal letters we found at the bottom of a latrine on Makeb!" He chuckled. "Well I say we. It was the undergraduates who did the finding on that occasion."

Kellen reached into his archaeology kit for the trusty flashlight. A few sweeps to check for anything untoward.

"At the bottom of a latrine? Is that common in archaeology?" Kat asked, senses still peeled for anything interesting.

"Quite common yes." He smirked. "You can imagine the line of thought: 'Where shall I throw this awful poem/love letter/evidence so that no-one will find it?' And so there is much to be said for the historical record of the humble latrine. I've even found lockbox, datavaults, and all sorts of expensive treasures someone meant to come back to but didn't." He shrugged, the archaeological record was full of such things.

"At the bottom of a latrine? Is that common in archaeology?" Kat asked, senses still peeled for anything interesting.

Kataryzna accidentally kicked a storage box on the floor and it fell over spilling out a mass of baby spiders that scatter everywhere. Inside are some physical texts and what looks like an old rusted blade of ancient metal. Useless now.

The texts look like manuals for daily soldier activities and letters, though the material is in a very poor state.

OOC: Suffer a strain from the box and boots covered in spiders.

"Oh, how interesting!" Kellen took out some sample collection tools from his kit and very carefully packed up the old hard copy texts. "Hopefully more than just love letters. We'll need to look at them carefully back at the museum."
