Professor Kellen Rist And The Temple Of Doom (D3, MA)

There was a very un-Jedi "eek!" from Katarzyna as the spiders scurried over her feet and she hurriedly brushed them off of her.

"Uughhhh... spiders..."

She shook her head, regaining her composure. "Texts huh. That's quite the discovery. This weapon looks rather ancient too." She didn't touch it yet, as she didn't want to interrupt the expert at work, but Kat did try to get a closer look at it.

It does not look like a hunting knife, more like an older dagger used by older peoples. It had small notches from use and a fairly simplistic design with an unknown crest worked into the bottom of the hilt.

OOC: Lore at Hard for the crest. Add a setback due to the condition of the blade.

Tethys crouches down to get a look at the dagger as well. "Now, that's a piece of the bad old days, I suspect."

((Kat can roll Lore first since it's her find, if she wants! We have the same pool. Tethys can boost if allowed.))

Looking closely at the blade Kellen noticed the crest and recognized it. "Oh. Well now that's rather interesting!"

"What is it? Looks very old." Kat was quite curious, like a student waiting with baited breath for the teacher's reveal.

[Kellen Rist]

"You see this marking here? That is symbol of the Black Circle. The organization that Pimbo mentioned." He pulled out more collection gear. "We can date the blade in the lab. It looks very old though."

[Tethys Carrack]

"I wonder if those documents say anything about who owned it last." Tethys rubs a fleck of decayed paper between her fingertips--likely the corner of one of the pages now in Kellen's artifact cases, long since flaked away into the bottom of the trunk and too tiny and blank to match up to any particular sheet. "Do you think they're safe to handle, Professor, or had we better wait and get them back to the lab first?"

[Kellen Rist]

"Mmm, I suggest we get them to the lab. It may be that something is salvageable, but it is so easy to destroy things in the field. Best to be safe." He carefully collected the material. Each item was given a tag and the details were recorded on his datapad.

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"Good thing we have the expert here with us," Kat mused. She was pretty well educated, even by Jedi standards, but proper archaeology routines wasn't some she knew.

OOC: was this found in the living areas or armory? Would like to check out the rest of the place unless that was everything.

That seems to be the only thing they can find with ease in the living are with a hallway leading towards Bay #2, midway down the hall are two doors on each side leading to the Vault on one side and the Armory on the other. The doors to both has been pried open, probably by Ulgo folks some time ago.

"Not surprising," Kat remarked as they saw the doors that had been pried open, "in fact I would've been more surprised if House Ulgo hadn't checked this place out."

"A look around then, at least. They had missed that box with the documents and the weapon, after all."

[Tethys Carrack]

Tethys nods. "What interests us and what interested them aren't quite the same, I imagine. Worth a few minutes."

She pushes open the corroded door of the room that should, according to the map, be the "vault," playing the beam of her glow rod around the space.

[Dapper Dog]

The interior of the room had an odor that came from bags of food stuffs or what may have been foodstuffs but now overflowed with mold and rot. Critters scuttle away from the light. Once inside there were rows of this stuff, canned goods, bags of old rotten stuff and old broken supplies.

What a shame Jerri Organa is missing this, part of Tethys's mind reflects as she leans into the stone wall and waits for her stomach to decide whether it's done with the bad part. She might be out of all possible danger of appearing in a spicy light novel, then.

She rinses her mouth with a bit of her drinking water and re-composes herself. "Sorry. Should've remembered the respirator." Instead, the silly thing had sat uselessly clipped to her belt the whole time...

It seemed the Professor was made of sterner stuff. That or he was just used to walking in on bad smells while doing Archaeological work.

"Oh dear. Well we'll get you some electolytes once we're through. Replace some of those liquids."
