"Well, yes..." that was a bit *overly* optimistic for Layne's tastes, "...but *how* exactly are we to do that? I share your concerns of course, but I was a bit surprised to find you reaching out to me, I'm not exactly... known for my finesse in these sorts of endeavors."

"You solve problems, and find things long before anyone else, trust the Force and you will find the way."

She started eating and added, "Plus you piss people off, people do dumb things when mad."

She chuckled at that last bit, giving a side glance over to her padawan. "I've caused more than a few problems too. So, you think I should try and piss Zeno off? The rest of house Thul too? Well... what's two houses being pissed at me instead of just the one, I guess?"

[Dapper Dog]

"I am not sure you need to try, it tends to just happen naturally. I suspect Thul is up to no good, but I could be wrong," she said honestly.

"My suspicion is based on what has occurred in the past but the future is everchanging."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Yeah, I *do* tend to make that happen even when I'm not trying," she said. "What will you be doing, other trusting in the Force a nd cooking stew out here? And uh... side note, know anything helpful about House Rist?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Why House Rist?" she asked.

[Layne Hoshin]

"They've declared a vendetta against me. Fallout from back when I was a Sith. I killed one of theirs, now they're accusing me of having killed *another* one of them, which I didn't. They were not kind to Tyche here when they decided to announce things."

"Violence tends to beget more violence," she offered.

"So what is your plan?" she asked.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Honestly, I don't know. Fixing this sort of thing without more violence is kind of outside my expertise. I am sure I might be able to gain aid from some of the local Jedi in trying to ensure things at least don't spill over to affect people other than myself. But I don't think I can convince her I didn't kill her sister. Even if I could, pride might prevent them from calling it off; especially given the actual facts of the matter."

She sighed. "Finding proof of who actually did it *might* still help, I suppose. But I'm no investigator, and obviously I can't just walk into their estate and start questioning potential witnesses from back then."

[Dapper Dog]

"Why not, you really don't understand Alderaan. This is a matter of personal and family honor and that matters to them, especially the nobility. If she didn't attempt to kill you right away it is because she is still holding to those traditions. You have put together mysteries before and solved them, you just assume you can't. When you already have. The Force brought you here to right this wrong, in the end you will have to answer for what you have done but maybe you can bring this woman peace by exposing the truth of her sister's murder."

"They won't try and kill you right off, I presume. You have time, use it."

[Layne Hoshin]

"I suppose I should," she said, a little uncertain still.

Truth was, this kind of uncertainty was uncharacteristic for Layne. Used to be that she'd just *do* what she had to do. Maybe not everything about who she used to be was to be avoided. Maybe she *could* just barge into the Rist estate tomorrow, start asking questions and gathering evidence and what not. Don't take no for an answer. Hell, Tyche could even be useful there... assuming she was even willing to go with her irresponsible master. Assuming Layne was even willing to risk them breaking with tradition and breaking another arm.

"Could I ask you to at least keep an ear out for any information that might help me? I assume you intend to be in a position this festival where you'll hear all sorts of things."

[Dapper Dog]

"Of course, no Jedi stands alone," she offered.

[Layne Hoshin]

She nodded solemnly and took a spoonfull of stew in quiet. Which was soon rudely interrupted.

"...So," Tyche piped up. "you were trapped in a tiny box?"

[Dapper Dog]

"You mean the holocron, I honestly don't even know where that is," she said without missing a beat.

"Or when I was frozen in carbonite?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"You never got that back?" She thought about it, then realization dawned...

"...oh. I guess I should've probably told you that last time I saw it it was in the hands of the person who'd become the Queen of the Massassi."

Oops. She had totally forgotten about it. Could've probably asked for it back when she was on Yavin again.

"She's not around anymore though, I felt her pass back into the Force when the Emperor died. I'm *guessing* it's probably still on Yavin somewhere if you'd ever be inclined to track it down. Or maybe Jo'ren has it now. She might've given it to him."

[Dapper Dog]

“As you can see it’s been a wild few years, it is still strange to think the Emperor is dead… but that does not seem to have stopped the Sith Empire, imagine that. I think I will let it be, I feel its destiny is not with me,” she responded.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Well, I do remember your holocron version being more interested in helping people turn to the light rather than spilling any Jedi secrets. I suppose your alter-ego could do some good out in Sith space. Anyway, despite all that's happened since he passed, I think we dodged a very big blasterbolt with the emperor's death. Things could've been so much worse for everyone."

[Dapper Dog]

"I agree with you," was her reply.

[Layne Hoshin]

She nodded, and went to the task of finishing her stew, waiting to see if Thy had anything more to offer in terms of advice or concerns. With some Jedi, Layne sometimes felt as if there were things they'd only say to her once she demonstrated the ability to show some calm contemplation rather than constantly giving her opinion or sharing her doubts about stuff. Like even the act of eating stew was some sort of test she didn't know how to pass. She supposed that might be the old paranoia still working its way through her system.

In any case, the silence compelled her to let the Force flow between them, as she tried to get a general sense for the woman's emotions.
