"I see... I'm relieved to hear such suffering was ended," she wasn't disturbed by it, but rather felt sympathy for one who had suffered so. And Layne's difficult past. "But Tyche's path is not yours, and her life is not the same as yours, even if there are similarities. My master, Syo Bakarn, stressed to me often that everyone's path in the Force is different. And each Jedi find different ways to serve."

Kat smiled a little bit, reminiscing of her own path. "I came from a military-family, and when Master Syo took me on as his padawan, I was ready to learn how to be a great warrior. One who would cut through the darkness of the Sith and fight great battles in the name of the Republic and the Jedi." She crossed her arms casually across her body, her posture relaxed. "The first things Master Syo taught me that one of the more important duties we had as Jedi was to make a difference for the better. Sometimes that is to heal the injured, sometimes to build a house, or sometimes to fight to defend them. I spent a lot of time in the soup kitchens, or travelling with him to other worlds to take part in charity work to help war-torn worlds."

"You have the rare opportunity of many Jedi being gathered in one place. Maybe let Tyche spend some time with our fellow Jedi in their tasks, or to learn from them? It might help her find what she would like to learn and do, and she in turn can teach you as well?"

[Layne Hoshin]

She considered all those words; and... well, Layne just wasn't that sort of Jedi, it seemed to her. She liked *doing* the right thing. She didn't like talking about it so much, or philosophizing about it or what not. She understood it of course, and the way it was intended in... but she just couldn't shake off feeling that words were just words. And also there was always that part of her that insisted on... well, being *her*.

"Learn from my padawan, huh?"

She seemed to give that some very serious thought before she continued; "...she *does* know how to piss people off even better than I can."

Kat chuckled and shook her head. "I wouldn't really advise on learning that. As Jedi we should be peacekeepers and meditators, not instigators."

"But, give Tyche some time. This has all happened very recently for her. It sounds like what she could use more to start with is not only stability in her life, but also the assurance that her life is free now."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Sometimes keeping the peace and saving the day requires... well... something more my speed. Sometimes you *need* to instigate things in order to get the best outcome. But it seems Tyche would agree with you more than me."

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"Could be why the Council paired you together. For both of you to find a middle-ground?" Kat suggested, as she didn't completely disagree with Layne. But rather, she wanted Layne to find that herself, rather than her telling her.

"I hope that it helps you some. I don't have a padawan myself, but I know Alysele and Tethys do, so they might offer a different perspective for you if you ask them. As for your other problem of having something to do..." she pondered it a moment. "You went to speak with Bryson Rist yesterday after our meeting yesterday? How did it go?"

"He wasn't there," she said, "just a big hulking Baron who didn't like me much and the brother of the Duchess, Omandri Rist. But I went to talk with Omandri today again, just before coming here."

(Except that conversation hasn't advanced very far yet so I have no idea what's come out of it yet)

"Must've been Baron Olak Rist. Certainly fits the description," Kat remarked, but she was thinking.

"Given they sliced the comms, they must be aware that we're onto them. So it's possible that Bryson was avoiding you on purpose. I'd recommend still looking for him, and possibly bring him in for questioning. Perhaps Major Niall Organa will work with you? He's been an ally so far."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Captain Alderaan already accompanied me to the Rist Estate. I'm not sure I can really ask more of him at this point, as what comes next will probably either take a lot of political pressure to get him to cooperate with our investigation if he doesn't want to, or just... Jedi taking charge and circumventing Alderaan's laws. Which, I believe we *can* in fact do if it comes to it."

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

Kat had some trepidation.

"We can, but if this movement is trying to discredit the Jedi, it might be prudent if we try to work within the laws of Alderaan as much as we can. Including leaning on our allies such as Major Organa." She sighed. "Last night, during the Flower Parade, armed protestors were about to attack the royal family. Among them was someone who had a lightsaber, claiming to be a Jedi and that 'on behalf of the Jedi Order they condemn the Panteers'. She was no Jedi, and was stopped."

"They want to undo us and all we stand for. If we overplay our hand here, we do half the work for them."

[Layne Hoshin]

She frowned. "You have this 'jedi' in custody?"

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"Yes, with the ADF," Kat nodded. "When I confronted her, I made her stand down peacefully. I think she might've realised she was outclassed when facing a real Jedi... and the whole 'Master Jedi' adress from her... people of the Order usually don't adress us that way."

"I plan on going to speak with her later. Try to see who gave her the weapon, what plans they might've had. And maybe if she'll cooperate with us."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Hmmm," she considered, "If you want me to help just let me know. I can be pretty persuasive."

There was an awkward silence, no doubt.

"I mean, not by *doing* anything. Just you know, I have a *presence*."

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"There are many others to speak to as well that were arrested last night at the parade. Perhaps you'll find some answers with some of them?" Kat suggested, as she didn't have time to question absolutely every one of them.

"Maybe Tyche would like to speak with them too? See if she's any good with people?"
