The formal dinner is a lavish affair with esteemed members of the Panteer family, Prince Joran is dressed in princely garb and his mother is in a beautiful gown of scintillating white and silver with green highlights. She walks her son down the steps and the evening is begin with a dance, each of the suitors presents themselves to the Queen announcing their names, lineages, and accomplishments and that politely asks to dance with the Prince.

Then they perform a dance for all to watch and then once done the prince returns to his mother’s side for the next suitor.

Yulastranza begins by approaching and saying, “Your grace, I am Countess Yulastranza Ulgo of Castle Fonath, daughter of Duke Bouris Ulgo, lord protector of the Northern Guard Mountains, Hero of Alderaan. I have served Alderaan faithfully for nineteen years of service in the ADF and the Republic and have been awarded three Stars of Bravery, Lord Commander’s Badge, and Defender of the Crown. If it please your grace, I would be honored to dance Prince with Joran Panteer.”

The Queen nodded and they danced together, it was well done though without much passion but it was precise and as it should be.

OOC: Each suitor makes a Cool or Discipline check versus Fear at Hard to address the Queen, and then a Coordination or Athletics check at Average to dance, Joran is a skilled dancer so he adds a boost die. This Fear check will affect all rolls in this thread.

GM will spend a Destiny flip on each Suitor’s Dance roll to upgrade the difficulty once.

Once all are complete we move to the next phase of the dinner.

Cynella dressed to impress rather than sticking to stuffy formal regulations. She wore a tight black underdress with a red wrap dress outside. A corset (not too tight!) kept it all together on top of her added sleeves and collar.

If she was worried about her exposed back and shoulders, she certainly didn't show it. "Your Majesty and the rest of the court. I am Cynella Rhiannon Esmetrice Andrim, second child of Marvus Kennith Jaxler and Rhiala Addison Denore Andrim." She blinked a couple times after that tirade of names. "As one of the Ten of Kuat, House Andrim has supplied the galaxy with starships from Andrim Shipyards and the greater Kuat Drive Yards. If you have stepped foot on such a vessel, it is likely that I had a hand in such designs."

Well, she'd probably chosen the seats, but that part she didn't have to mention.

"It would be a great honor to dance with Prince Joran." Once given permission, she offered her hand forward for the man to take. While she was ordinarily quite the accomplished dancer, it turned out that she was trained mostly in Kuati tango instead of Alderaanian ballroom dance. And so, she was perhaps a bit too close for comfort...

And she'd started off so well.

Cynella and Joran tumble to the ground to a chorus of gaps with the Prince on top of the woman, he chuckled and then got to his feet and helped her up and finished the dance... but well no one would forget that moment.

Delmi walked into a world that she thought might be coming... but was never fully prepared for. The good news was that she was doing well enough in somebody's book to be here... So mission accomplished. The bad news was that she had to put on this dress that Theron had picked up for her and put on make-up for the first time in... forever.

She'd spent the return flight from Delaya reading up on Xero's Alderaanian etiquette refresher: Alderaanian Forks: How to Avoid Civil War at a Noble Party which had an additional title scribbled in the digital copy... 'For Dummies'.

Seeing her turn come up made her stomach turn over a moment, but she had been in much worse spots in her life so she pushed through.

"Your grace, I am Delmi Koor a High Associate of House Thul, daughter of Captain Portos Koor of Havoc Squad, defender of Alderaan. I have served in the Brentaal Defense Force and Republic Armed Forces as a Major in Havoc Squad. I have received numerous awards during my service including the Republic Seal of Service, the highest honor granted to citizens of the Republic. If it would please your grace, I would be honored to dance with Prince Joran Panteer."

She approached Joran when permitted and took his hand in hers. She was not a dancer... but she knew how to control her body when led by one who was trained...

"Thank... you... You are a good dancer." She said simply in a softer way than Delmi usually conducted herself.

Jocasta had been nervous, but excited as she headed to the palace. Also thankful that her sister had been able to send some appropriate clothing for these more intimate, formal affairs.

She saw another suitor, Riss, as she was making her way in. She offered some words of comfort, as much for Riss as for herself. Though they may be competitors, Jocasta always preferred to compete against those in top form.

2 successes, +1 boost die to Riss and Jocasta for 3 rounds.

She watched as the three suitors before her approached the Queen and took their turns with the Prince, dreading her turn on the dance floor. It had been nearly a decade since she had last been called on to dance in such a formal setting.

After the Major finished her dance and Joran took his place next to the Queen, Jocasta approached.

"Your Majesty, honored members of House Panteer, I am Jocasta Teraan, eldest daughter of Duke Teraan, Lord of the Alsakan Lowlands and servant of Alderaan and of the Crown. I have humbly served in the Alderaan Defense Force for nine years and it is my honor to continue to serve, currently at the rank of Lieutenant. With Her Majesty's blessings, I request a dance with Prince Joran."

Joran seemed charmed and the dance was well done even if Jocasta stepped on his foot once.

by Riss
Jocasta's words would be appreciated more eventually, after Riss has a chance to realize how much she needed them. Riss had arrived dressed in someone else's attire, the noble regalia that she'd be lent by Kat whom was far more prepared for such higher formal affairs than she was. Even yesterday she wasn't expecting to quite get this far, and yet she had. Considering she was invited personally there was some need, a desire, to actually put in some more effort to fit in and find her roots. Roots she eventually found covered in dust from years upon years of underuse.

Still, she approached the Queen well enough at the start after all the others, and then it immediately started to wear at the seams, "Your grace I am Riss just Ri-" she swallows, a brief and awkward smile as she reassess'. "I am Riss Lanar, third daughter of Jaton Lanar and Lindrase Lanar. And.. still alive despite Thul's best efforts," she says with a confident grin which wanes as she locks eyes with the queen herself. "I don't have as many claims as the others here tonight, but despite difficulty I have done my part as a Privateer for the Republic for a number of years now," she takes a quick moment to breath, to try and discreetly cover up her fraying nerves. "If it would please your grace, I would be honored to dance with Prince Joran Panteer."

"Hey," is all she would say in that brief private moment when Joran would eventually take her hand into the dance. Nerves frayed she had some trouble finding the steps exactly right. Trying to remember back to the time when she learned them she could only think about her father, which distracted her further. Passion, being present and in the moment, or at least appearing that way was her strong suit but she was struggling to keep up.

Joran danced with her and it was not remarkable but passable. He smiled warmly when they parted.

The Queen spoke, “We are pleased to announce that refreshments will be served shortly, please enjoy them and we shall dine promptly in twenty minutes.”

Her son then guided her up the stairs leaving the women with the gathering of Panteer family members eager to observe, judge, and maybe even speak to them.

OOC: Let me know if you approach a family member or not.

Following the dance she still felt awkward, but she was a little unlike others in how she dealt with that. For her, diving into the next thing running got her as far away from the awkward situation quicker and let her shove it behind her. Thus, in the time they had, she'd seek a familiar face but any other face would do too.

No, not a mynock… a Hinok Panteer.

It seemed like Riss and Cynella were of the same mind. She too sought one of Joran's brothers, hoping to glean more about the family in such an interaction.

Jocasta will mingle with those present. She will seek out anyone who seems to have served (possibly wearing a dress uniform or medals) hoping to talk about things she's more familiar with. She will opt for a non-alcoholic beverage to keep her wits about her.

Janir approached and said, “Lt. Teraan, I don’t think we have had the pleasure of speaking. Janir Panteer, commander of the Delaya detachment on loan to the ADF. You were captivating on the dance floor.”

"Your aura is chaotic, you are a child floating through many doors. Where will your journey end, Riss of House Lanar?" a woman said coldly.

"Do you have value, or are you worthless?"

In her search, Cynella hadn't expected to meet someone entirely new. "Oh! I should've considered more how wide House Panteer spanned. A pleasure to meet you, Baron Dushyant. You may call me Cynella, for that works all the same" she said, replicating Captain Alderaan's bow. "I've been likened by a rose more often back on Kuat but pearl pleases me too."

She pursed her lips, lingering on the last bit he'd said. "Wait, did you say ne'er do well? I've never met someone who'd include that in their introduction."
