[Day 8 - LA] Party Preperations

[Dapper Dog]

Prince Gaul was tired, the day started early for him and now he was left to see to the final details while Prince Unther saw to the security concerns. He sighed and made sure everything was just so, he knew what his mother expected, and he would execute it to the letter. He walked the halls of the palace with a droid personal assistant as he made his way to the main hall.

[Desilijic Keyhote]

"Ah there he is, the noble Prince Gaul! He looks different with clothes, and where is his signature cocktail?"
Sando shrugs
"Even his highness probably has duties to attend to, way I hear it there's all sorts of politicking going on behind the scenes."

Keyhote nods.
"I see. Well, she should follow along, our meeting with the vice-treasurer can wait."
"But, beginning your pardon yer lordship, why?"
"Why in case he is accosted by villains of course! Or if he needs words of wisdom, or perhaps even a fine glass of wine. There needs to be no 'why' when we support the good and true, Pantha!"
"As you say, I'll keep a bottle of the La Mancha ready."

The two set off to shadow the Prince, as shadowy as a van sized Hutt can be anyway.

Gaul turned and said, “Ah good afternoon, ser Hutt, what brings you to the palace? The dance is not yet ready.”

They both bow
"Sorry to distract you your Highness, we were here to meet the vice-treasurer for my clan."
Sando looks at Keyhote and makes the 'should we offer him some wine?' gesture. Keyhote shakes his head, not yet.
"You looked so animated we thought you might be about some mighty quest."

Knowing that there was a lot going on today, Kat made an effort to stop by early to see if there was anything she could help with.

Seeing Gaul and Keyhote, she raised a hand in greeting and approached the two.

"Master Jedi, welcome," he turned back to the Hutt, "Well I am not sure I am engaging in a quest, just trying to prepare for the largest ball of the festival."

Seeing Gaul and Keyhote, she raised a hand in greeting and approached the two.

"Knight Ulgo! It is good to see you again. I hope all is well?"

"Master Jedi, welcome," he turned back to the Hutt, "Well I am not sure I am engaging in a quest, just trying to prepare for the largest ball of the festival."

"But that is a quest for love, the greatest gathering of love at the festival so far! I have already attended one dance practice."

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"Your highness, ser Keyhote," she bowed. "I am well, and relieved to see you have recovered so swiftly from your injuries."

Wait what was this about dance practice?

He just nodded at the love Hutt.

"A little near-death experience shall not stop this Hutt from his mighty quest! Pantha worked some wonders and I feel decades younger!"

"Very good, ser. You have some talented friends it seems," she smiled and nodded.

Looking to Gaul, Kat gave a small bow. "Is there anything I, and possibly ser Keyhote can do to help with the preparations? Today's been a busy day for you, so I don't mind helping out where I can."

[Cynella Andrim]

Cynella's powerful shoulders were on full display in her red ballgown and her hair done up in an elaborate bun. She curtsied to all of them, glad to again be in such delightful company. "I hope it's okay that I came a little early," she said with an awkward smile. "Between us, I don't feel like I danced well with His Highness, Prince Joran, last time. I was hoping I could use the ballroom early for a little bit of early practice."

Gaul frowned, it seemed unseemly to put guests to work so instead said, “I think we have everything in hand, these people know their duties well. Really I am just more of a hindrance.”

He continued down the hall through a door where one of the Blackguard, Ser Monstrous, stood. He gestured to the large hall, “Everything is well in hand.” he said to Cynella, "The main hall is a but busy for dance practice... but we could find you somewhere else to practice."

"If you say so," Kat smirked a little bit, then looked at Cynella as she joined them.

"Wow, lady Andrim. You look wonderful in that dress. I'm certain you will impress many."

"Oh, all of you flatter me too much," Cynella beamed. She glanced around at the fretting workers. "Ah, well, I wouldn't want to impede anybody in this search, especially not you, Prince Gaul. Perhaps I could dance outside of the palace."

She shook her head. "That would be rather odd, wouldn't it?"

“I am not saying you can’t dance, just we would have to find you a better place to practice, I am sure we can find somewhere,” he said trying to maintain a pleasant façade at the situation.

He closed the door to the main hall and said, “We have some rooms this way that could-”

Three metal canisters skidded down the hall from a group of approaching guardsmen… are those Ulgo… it didn’t matter, the canisters burst open with bright lights and choking smoke!

OOC: Resilience checks versus Hard, if failed the character is Disoriented for five rounds, adds a setback die to all rolls. Smoke provides a setback on attack, two on ranged attacks unless they have a way to mitigate it. Flip Destiny for these rolls for the PCs, so 3 Destiny spent.

The flash-bangs detonate with a thunderous crack in the confined space, their flare briefly illuminating the huge figure of Keyhote within the swirling cloud of smoke.

"To arms good people! To arms! The Prince is under attack!"
One arm gently but firmly pushes Pantha behind his bulk as Keyhote glares through the smoke.
"Fiends! Your villainy stands little chance against the power of love. Now, come at me!"

Kat wasn't unused to ambushes and war zones, and was quick to throw up her arms to avoid being disoriented by the blast.
