[Day 8, LE] Just to Say Goodnight

[Galen Sol]

Galen arrived at the Spring Palace and requested to see the princess. It was late, security was understandably high, he was accompanied by no one, his nice clothing had been ruined in the day's events, and he didn't know if she was actually at the palace.

He just wanted to see her.

[Jameela Panteer]

Jameela was refreshed and standing on her balcony watching the view, it seemed peaceful compared to everything that had occurred. It was strange how things could settle back down so quickly.

[Galen Sol]

"A credit for your thoughts." Galen said as he approached.

[Jameela Panteer]

“You would probably need more than a credit for all my thoughts, just relieved that things did not go worse. They wanted us dead, I mean we were warned as children that could happen but you don’t expect that on Alderaan not even with some of these assassin houses but that really happened,” she said honestly.

“That really happened.”

[Galen Sol]

He moved close to her, taking her hand. "This wasn't Alderaan or its houses. This was a stubborn old man, obsessed with his own view of the galaxy and definition of strength. Alderaan stood with you against him, including members of every house, showing the strength of unity."

[Jameela Panteer]

"Maybe, I see it as both, he didn't get there alone and they cam e together thankfully, but there is a chance they could have done otherwise. It's humbling, and scary to think about," she said honestly.

"But it didn't go that way. We did come together, so I am hopeful. It's a complex picture I never considered."

[Galen Sol]

"It is." He agreed. "There's a lot to figure out. Especially with changes coming to the Houses. That will all take time. For now, be there for the people. Show them that, after today, there are some things they can still depend on."

[Jameela Panteer]

“It was people like you we can depend, who have no ties to Alderaan but stepped up to do the right thing. I am not sure I have that kind of bravery, but it was inspiring to see,” she admitted.

“Even if we destroyed the Museum.”

[Galen Sol]

"We are all braver than we think." he smiled. "And, sometimes I'm more reckless than brave. Regardless, it was you and your Alderaan I was fighting for. I imagine it was much the same for Lana."

"As for the museum, I guess we'll have to find some new artifacts to display."

[Jameela Panteer]

"I am just glad it is over," she said with a heavy sigh.

[Galen Sol]

"I am relieved that you and your family are safe." he said. "I felt desperate when you were pinned by the debris. How do you feel?"

[Jameela Panteer]

"I am going to be okay, I appreciate your concern, I just need you to know I can take care of myself, mostly," she said.

"But I was glad you were there."

[Galen Sol]

"I understand. I know you aren't a damsel to be rescued. But, that won't keep me from worrying, if I think you're in danger." He pulled her close, if she'd allow it. "Actually, I think I'm the damsel in this fairytale. The one who hoped to go to the ball, to dance with the prince."

[Jameela Panteer]

She teased, “If that’s the case I can ask my brother to come dance with you, he might enjoy that.”

“I appreciate the concern though, I am not saying it is unwarranted, but I am not helpless, I just want someone that can see that, Galen. I really had no expectations about this whole process, but it’s been a better experience overall than I anticipated.”

“I got to meet a lot of great people,” she said enjoying the closeness. “You’re a special person to me, Galen, and I am thankful. But I just need you to understand that I am not a damsel, I want someone who will be a partner and care about me as I care about them.”

[Galen Sol]

"That's what I want." he assured her. "I'd rather be at your side that in front of you. I don't have your knowledge or passion. I couldn't hope to direct you or guide you, only offer support and comfort. But, if I hear blaster fire and explosions, I am likely to go see if I can help, regardless of who's in danger."

[Jameela Panteer]

"Run to the danger, that's a weird instinct but mostly a good one," she said thankfully. "Just, I don't know, think twice every now and then."

"Not sure my heart will be able to handle it over the long term."

[Galen Sol]

"I promise." He caressed her cheek. "I have no plans to run off to war. And, Alderaan has plenty of heroes. Hopefully, it won't come up much."

[Jameela Panteer]

“We can hope for a long period of peace and stability and the scars of today will run deep. Thank you, Galen, your presence is a great comfort to me,” she said warmly resting her head on his shoulder.

[Galen Sol]

He held her close as they looked out over Alderaan. He'd remain as long as she wished.
