Alderaan - Love and Intrigue

Jocasta wore her civvies out, not wanting to draw too much attention. She made her way through the port. It was bustling even at this hour, or maybe even more so. It took her a while to find the bar Julio and told her about, it was a dive hidden away behind a novelty clothing store. There were already shirts of Captain Alderaan dancing on display, the hips shook back and forth as you moved past it.

Walking in, she saw a few patrons at the bar and some unused tables in the small space. As she walked, her feet stuck ever so slightly to the floor... lovely.

She took a seat at one of the tables and waited for Julio.

Julio was there smoking, alone.

After sitting a few moments, trying to avoid eye contact with some of the patrons who had taken notice of her from the moment she walked in, Jocasta realized that the dark figure sitting in the corner was Julio. She went by the bar and ordered up two Corellian whiskeys and brought them to his table.

"Well, still punctual I see, but you could've let me know you were already here." She slid a tumbler over to him, "Cheers."

Julio shrugged and said, "Figured you would figure it out, Lt."

"Clean up nice." He is still wearing the same clothes as earlier complete with bandage.

She fusses over her like a mother hen for a moment, turning his arm over to look at the bandage. "You couldn't get this looked at? I figured you were doing well in the private sector. You lined up a nice gig there tonight."

Julio shrugged, "It looks worse than it is. Private sector, funny. You always a character, Lt."

"Why you slummin' killing bugs anyways?" Julio let out some smoke rings.

"Well, you know me, I can never turn down someone in need. I heard they were going after a killik hive and could tell they had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Also, all this Festival business had me a bit worked up so I took the chance to go out and take out some bugs."

"You here to get a free meal too, nice," he said honestly.

"Well, it's a bit more complicated than that. I might be involved in a battle royale of suitors for the Panteer twins, one of which may be named the new heir apparent after the Festival..." She said sheepishly.

"Bet you never thought you're old L.T. would get a chance at being Queen one day."

"Kriff, that's serious. Whose scaly butt did you have to kiss to get that gig?" he asked.

"More like whose scaly butt can I kiss to get out of it.

Well, I'm sure my father would rather have Cedonia... You remember my little sister Cedonia? She would visit me and make little googly eyes at all the troopers. He would rather have her here in my place, but she's just not old enough. House Teraan still needs to be represented, so here I am."

"Word, you hate it?" he asked, surprised.

"Well, you know me, I'm a simple girl. I didn't want to be involved in the politics and bureaucracy of House Teraan, much less the Royal Family. But duty calls..." Jocasta takes a slow sip of whiskey.

"You know the worst part?" She lowers her voice and leans in closer to Julio. "It's the Imperials. I knew I'd have to rub shoulders with other nobles, but I didn't expect the Imperials would be so involved. Wherever the Princess goes, there's the Sith. The Prince can't stand them, but what soldier would?"

"Yeah she is... well I just think it should be treasons to associate with them, personally," he said with a shrug taking a deep drag.

"After what they've done to us, I can't argue with that. Although I do feel bad for the girl. She seems... young, impressionable, I guess immature. You know how sheltered some nobles are, well imagine how it went for a Princess.

That is one reason I'm glad I'm here though, I want to try and help push the Prince to the forefront. At least he will take a practical stance about the Empire. We need a military man in charge." She swirls the little bit of whiskey around in the glass.

"Enough about me, my heads already big enough. What brings you back? I tried to reach out after I found out you'd gone offworld."

"Ran out of creds," he said honestly.

"Ran out of creds," She parroted back. "Well come on trooper, what's your plan, what are you doing to fix that?"

"Whatever," he said with a shrug.

"This ain't the field anymore. I get by."

Jocasta softened her tone, "Listen, we've all been through the training, we sat through the holoslide presentations. But there is a difference between knowing something and feeling it... people can think they know what you've been through, but I know we can't, only you can."

She finishes off her whiskey and waves her hand in a circle to the bartender for another round. He puts two glasses on the bar and grunts at her. Taking the hint, Jocasta gets up to retrieve their next round.

"Looks like things worked out for you though, not sure what you have to complain about. I am not here for handouts or to cry, did my time. War's over," he said bitterly.

"Not even sure we won, but sure feels like we lost."
