Alderaan - Love and Intrigue

Gil wasn't exactly a big spender, in fact he was the type to save if he was able. But he did have a bit of money piling up, and today seemed as good a day as any to spend it.

Walking along the streets he kept his eyes open for anything of interest, and in general tried to enjoy his time away from the festivities.

Cynella, for her part, found herself back here to see the starfaring capabilities of House Organa. Still, having any company made it all the better. "Oh! I know you. You're the bodyguard, the crackshot!"

Eh? He was known? A brief glance to the surrondings confirmed that the woman was indeed talking to him and he offered her a polite nod in greeting. "I'm not sure if I would call myself a crackshot, but I know my way around small arms." He replied offering the woman a nod in greeting his lips twitching up slightly at the edges in what one could assume was a smile even if just barely. "Still we have certainly seen each other around."

"I'm Gil Corren, Plasure to finally get a chance to chat, Lady....?"

"Nonsense! You were the talk of the entire gathering, I'd say." Him and Riss... she needed to follow up with her about that whole ordeal, see if it sorted itself out. "There's no need to be so modest."

Still, it seemed like the man wasn't of noble birth. She couldn't recall a House Corren, at least (which meant he wasn't an eligible bachelor for her!).

Nonetheless, she bowed to him in her best imitation of the Captain Alderaan way. "Lady Cynella Rhiannon Esmetrice Andrim, though Cynella works all the same. The pleasure is all mine."

He didn't particularly recall it that way, but he wasn't going to argue with the noble woman either so he dipped his head in gratitude at the compliment and left it at that.

Her bow was returned, perhaps a bit deeper and more formally due to the differences between their stations. "Well, Lady Cynella then." He offered after her intorduction. "Could I ask what brings you out this morning? As a local perhaps I could be a bit of help."

"Nothing in particular, honestly," Cynella said. "I may wish to shop around but I had the time before my busy schedule later on. Funny how that works, what with things all falling into place around the same time."

She tilted her head. "And what about you? Taking time off or are you on some sort of special mission?"

"A bit of time off to attend to some shopping." None of the Rists seemed likely to be getting into trouble at the moment after all. Well maybe Omandri but the man seemed to be pretty prone to trouble.

"I'll likely be a bit busier later myself. Nothing quite as fancy as you though most likely."

"And here I was hoping that I'd be privy to some secret dealings here on the planet." She cracked a smile. "Oh but Alderaan has proven to be entertaining and full of surprises already."

She glanced around. "What is it that you're looking for anyways? Perhaps I could offer some input?"

"Run into a lot of that sort of that thing thus far, Lady Cynella?" Gil asked with a raised eyebrow. "Or is it other sorts of entertainment you've run across?" There was plenty of drinking and partying going on after all.

"What I'm looking for?" He paused a moment. "Nothing too exciting, stuff for work mostly. Maybe some mod parts or an attachment or two?" He snorted, perhaps in amusement. "Boring stuff to you, I'd guess."

"A nice variety, really," Cynella said. She wasn't going to share all of the political machinations she'd encountered with a total stranger. "Surely you were there at the Huttball competition."

She shrugged. "Not boring nor intriguing to me. I have a rather well-maintained pistol but I'm not tinkerer. If the day ever comes where I need it, I want it to be the best possible. Surely you can understand that," she said with a wink.

"Aye, I played with several members of House Rist." They'd made a rather good showing of it all things considered. "I suppose that is a form of entertainment though, especially if you're watching. If I'm not incorrect though I believe you played as well?"

The wink was a bit odd, but he passed it off as a strange habit, or something in her eye. "You're right, I can understand that and I have to admit I'm not much of a tikerer either, I do try my hand at it from time to time." He pointed down the street. "That's my destination, if you want to have a look around as well."

"You did rather well, yes! Although I think none of us were able to compare to Captain Alderaan and his team." And there she was again commending him at every opportunity.

"I'd love to take a look around. With your expertise, perhaps I'll have better insight on what would be better for my weapons as well."

"Thanks for noticing, I believe your team one as well?" He frowned for a moment. "I admit I didn't have the chance to watch many of the matches as I was rather busy after my own match.... I did hear Prince Joran had a rather unfortunate result though." A rather large amoutn of the servants had been talking about it.

As she followed he modded. "I'll do what I can, but I should ask well the goal you have in mind when wielding your weapon. Just somethign for emergencies? Do you want something non lethal, something lethal? That sort of thing."

"Yes! Most of the Organa-affiliated ones did, in fact, except for the poor Prince Joran." She shook her head. "It's his own sport too! Goodness, and if we've both heard it, practically everyone must know and be spreading it around."

Cynella pursed her lips. "Wow, I never really thought about that. I'm assuming emergencies means that I'd be compromising for something, right?"

True enough which couldn't be particularly good for the princes morale. Not that he was going to comment on that but he did nod and say. "Indeed."

"Yes, something for emergency usually come with a desire for concealibility which often limits the firepower of the weapon as well as the number of attachments it can handle." Gil said as they entered the shop. "And if you're looking for something for intimidation you'd want to go a completely different direction."

"Ah, well, I'd say my current pistol doesn't abide by those rules. It's on the bulkier side, though maybe it'd be good for intimidation?" She shook her head. "To be honest, I always imagined using it as an officer if I had use for it. But seeing as I'm not commissioned in the military, that's a moot point."

Intimidation is a good deterrent, and a officer does need a good side arm." His eyes shifted from the shelves to the woman for a moment.

"Did you have an interest in serving, or was it just a passing thought?"

"The interest is there. The opportunity, not exactly." Cynella smiled, having told this story many times before to others during this festival. "My parents haven't been keen on the idea of me postponing any noble arrangements in favor of the military."

"Go off and be wed!" Gil replied with a snort of amusement. "Or at least that's what it sounds like. Makes sense though, that's kind of part and parcel of being nobilit, you have your duties to your family to uphold after all." Even if he knew certain nobles that liked to avoid them."

No names would be mentioned out loud though.

Cynella blinked at the man's forwardness and understanding. "Yes, it really was that simple. I'm sure you've witnessed similar situations here on Alderaan before. To be honest, it kind of dampens the whole romantic feeling of the festival in a way..."
