[Day 9 - MM] - What I've Done

After an extra long run this morning, Jocasta made her way to where Julio was being held. She was dreading this talk, but it had to be done.

She checks her blaster with guards and follows them in.

"Hey Lt., heard we had a big party yesterday, sad I missed it," he said sardonically.

"Yes," she responds, "it was something else. Bouris failed. He went after the Queen, after the Panteers and he failed. He claimed to want to save Alderaan from Imperials, but it was just a power grab, the same thing the Thul he spoke out against so much did, the same thing the Imperials do with their invasions. He put innocent civilians in the line of fire."

“Well, that’s a shame, a real damn shame,” he said with a shrug. “Guess I will be in good company then.”

"Do you regret any of it? Regret being a part of what it became?"

"Not really, I did what I thought was right," he said honestly.

"I don't know if that makes this easier or harder... I feel like I should have tried to talk you out of it, tried to convince you there was another way Julio, but I had a duty. I have to confess that I was working with others to prevent your group from causing harm and that I deceived you to that end."

She sighed, "You know, when all this was brought to my attention, I was so torn. I wanted to make excuses for you, to justify your feelings, to do whatever I could to extract you from the consequences, but I've learned something. We put the ones we trust the most on a pedestal, we try to make exceptions for them. That's how Bouris got to where he did. If he had been called out by more people on his disloyalty earlier, instead of so many playing apologist for him, maybe we would've been able to avoid today."

Jocasta folds her arms and stares up at the ceiling for a moment, "In the end, I regret deceiving you, I regret using our history to manipulate you, but I don't regret the end result. You made the decision to betray Alderaan and you will have to face those consequences."

She believe in redemption, but it didn't seem he was ready for that yet. "I'd like to keep visiting with you if that's okay, you can tell me what a horrible person I am, or we can talk about the huttball matches, whatever you'd like."

"Because, I still value you Julio. We've been through enough together that you've earned that much. I don't want to abandon you here, even if I had a hand in it. We may have been enemies on this battlefield, but we were allies on past ones, and maybe we can remain friends."

"Fine," he said softening and then added, "You're the only person who seems to give a damn so sure. I'm in."

Jocasta relaxed a little at his answer, "Good, I'm glad to hear it. I need to go pick up Cedonia from her transport, but I'll come visit you later."
