[Day 7 - Early Evening] Loose Ends

"She seems healthy and I have her calmed." Galen said to the others.

Blai looks at the hound as if studying it for a while. Is it an adult? A female? And... Could they maybe convince it to come with them without having to anesthetise it?

As he does it, he looks at Galen approvingly and with great admiration. "You're really good with animals yourself, Galen", he says in a friendly tone. "Where have you learned that?" The hunter was definitely an interesting folk, he found more and more.

"So... We may not have to hunt hunt after all today, eh? Hope you won't be frustrated, miss Alde", he says half-jokingly looking back at the Prince before turning his attention to the hound again.

OOC:
Can I get some info on the hound, and maybe why it's less affected? Is it Xenobio or something else?

Also can I try to convince it to return with us without putting it to sleep?

OOC: You'd need a lab unless you have a field lab or something and time to study it. Probably a few time slots, science takes time! It's calm but moving it from here will probably require sedating it.

"I don't think we can keep her calm all the way back to the university." Galen said. "It would be best to sedate her. As for my way with animals, I'm not as connected to them as you are, but I've known others like you. I made the mistake of hunting one's acklay."

Aurilie would agree to put the chit-chat of thranta and companions to later.

"We did have a hunt-hunt actually," she said plainly as she flicked the safety on her rifle but kept it in her hands. "Just because a shot wasn't fired doesn't make it any less of one. Besides, I'd rather have found the hound than not. Not needing to fight it was the best option. I've seen what they can do when provoked into violence. I'd rather not end another hunt by needing to haul someone back for medical attention."

"I appreciate your assistance." Galen sat with the hound, petting it gently. "I was concerned that she would be wounded and hostile. Having a group of us was for the best."

[Aurilie Alde]

"And I'm sure Alderaan appreciates your hand in this, Galen. Everyone, really." She nodded to Blai and his companion. "It's likely not the end of this but I am hoping to see to the end on the more tangible aspects for now. Maybe the cooperation of this one will give some hope that these effects can be reversed to prevent further danger in the future."

Not like we're lacking dangers around here anyway. She thought to herself.

Can I at least get an idea of the hounds' age? Seems like it's a she, right?
Spending slots (and resources if needed!) to find out more makes loads of sense, and willing to do it
Also - could I at least try to get it to trust me and maybe follow us? Or at least trust that we mean it no harm.

Galen could see the hesitance in sedating the hound.

"Blai, even if she comes willingly, we'll be bringing her into a new environment, with more people and unfamiliar sounds and scents. It could be a dangerous transition for her."

OOC: The bigger issue is other people and the normal sights and sounds of civilization, it's still a wild animal. Sedation is the best plan if you are planning on bringing it back. Like Galen said.

It seems to be a mature adult.

He nods to Galen, a wide smile growing on his lips. "I was concerned about that and more... It's good to see the corruption didn't spread so much to her too." A good look at the hound. "It will be great to see her make it out of this safe to a happier life".

"And I'm sure Alderaan appreciates your hand in this, Galen. Everyone, really." She nodded to Blai and his companion. "It's likely not the end of this but I am hoping to see to the end on the more tangible aspects for now. Maybe the cooperation of this one will give some hope that these effects can be reversed to prevent further danger in the future."

He then nods to Aurilie, a wide smile still on his lips. "You're right on all accounts, miss Alde! It's a much better hunt than one that ends in bloodshed and hurt. And it does give me hope for the other hounds... and for anything else that may have been touched by this sort of corruption. Which... Well I hope hasn't happened. But if it has, knowing how to undo it will be very important."

Another happy glance at the dog, then a slightly concerned look at Aurilie.

"Do you know how Ser Keynote is doing, miss Alde? I should pay him a visit .. from what I heard we owe much of the success here to his valiant effort and sacrifice"

Then at Galen's answer, he looks at the hound again slightly frustrated, but finally nods.

"You're right... Best be careful. For her safety, even..."

He then takes out some anaesthetics from one of his many pockets.

"Want to do it then, Galen? She seems to trust and like you", he says with a gentle smile.

"I have something to drop off at the Spring Palace." he said. "But, I'll spend the rest of the evening with her."

He nods. "If you can take her to the university later, or tomorrow, we might try to run some tests on her. Try to understand what kept her safe." A smile. "It might help the others".

"We'll take her there now. I can take a quip trip to the palace while she sleeps and be back for her afterwards." he said.

He nods. "Sounds good. We may need her again for some more tests later, but it will definitely be good for her to have someone she trusts by her side while she sets into a new life", he says with a peaceful smile as he runs his hand through Elur's mane.

OOC: I've got quite a few doses of anaesthetics. I'd normally use them with the Saberdart, but since she's calm and seems to trust Galen maybe we can hand her two doses at a time instead of one, using a syringe or something like that from the Vet pack?
Or do we just handwave this?

Another happy glance at the dog, then a slightly concerned look at Aurilie.

"Do you know how Ser Keynote is doing, miss Alde? I should pay him a visit .. from what I heard we owe much of the success here to his valiant effort and sacrifice"

Aurilie smiled at the mention of Keynote, seemingly in good spirits about it. "I think Ser Keyhote would very much appreciate the concern and company. He's doing wonderful and retains his good spirits. We do very much owe him for his service to us. I get the feeling that he'll likely say that he was happy to merely be involved in making Alderaan safe and having the chance to stand toe to toe to Black Tooth. All of the things that remind him of his love of living. Of course, knowing that I fell the mighty monster, too."

Aurilie smiled at the mention of Keynote, seemingly in good spirits about it. "I think Ser Keyhote would very much appreciate the concern and company. I get the feeling that he'll likely say that he was happy to merely be involved in making Alderaan safe and having the chance to stand toe to toe to Black Tooth. All of the things that remind him of his love of living. Of course, knowing that I fell the mighty monster, too."

A kind smile. "He is a remarkable one, Ser Keynote. I'll make sure to pay him a visit, yeah! Oh, now I think about it, I believe I saw him at the race earlier today! I should probably ask him about that too!"

Then a nod, full of admiration. "Prince Alde... I should thank you again too. I heard it was your shot that felled Black Tooth. And... I've seen the skilled hunter and outdoorswoman you are, but... I didn't quite realise just how much respect you have for the beasts too." Another nod, another smile, at her then Galen. He thought about saying more, clearly glad for the results, but also for having shared the hunt with them... But he wouldn't know what to say. The smile and the nod would do, he hoped.
