[Day 3, EM] Scouting the Hounds Lair

The transport stopped far from the ruins of the processing plant. Galen quickly checked his gear. The thermal cloak shielded him from the already growing heat. His lightsaber was on his belt and his blaster rifle was on his back. He was carrying a few other odds and ends from his survival kit, along with an electro snare and chem lure. He slid on his hunting goggles and looked to the others.

"Everyone ready?"

"Oh my, it's rather hot out here. Pantha, my fan."
The squire starts desperately attempting to cool the perspiring hutt.

Aurilie said she would like to be here and if there was nobody stopping here, she was going to stay true to her word. For this occasion, she ditched the posh and dapper wear to something utilitarian, dressed in browns and other outdoor shades to match the terrain that they would find themselves in. Her purple and pink hair was tied up in a braid and slipped into the confines of her hoodie. She topped off her outfit with a matching cap and aviator sunglasses.

This occasion was more scouting than hunting but she was going to prepare herself for the situation by keeping her rifle nearby. Just because they were performing a parley of sorts and setting the terms didn't mean that animals were going to play by the same rules. She was a bit surprised to see the Hutt here but didn't fault him for being here. At least his body had matching shades with the earth. Now that they were on the field, she got to work looking for traces of the predator and get a lay of the land...

Blai had joined the scouting efforts as well, with his exploration gear dangling from a rather packed modular backpack. Given the weather, he had a thermal cloak on him as well.

OOC:
D3 EM - Survival vs Hard; assuming with Thermal cloak, Forager, Outdoorsman and Bracer one of them removes Setback? :D Boost due to Explorer's Knife.: 2eP+1eA+1eB+3eD 3 successes, 2 advantage

(I would say perhaps zeroing on the location of Black Tooth and the pack? Probably exact pack numbers? Hunting routes and potential points of ambush to prevent nasty surprises (potentially ambush them in return)?)

They spot the facility and she can see something large heading into what looks like the central facility of the ruined complex. Even at the distance there were fumes and strange clouds filling the air.

"Well, that's definitely a problem." Galen said quietly. "Let's take a look around and see if we can get an idea of how many there are. Look for tracks and other signs. We should take some sample if we find anything we can analyze. Avoid those fumes, though."

Aurilie slid the sunglasses from the bridge of her nose and sighed. "There's good news and bad news. We are closer but I had gotten the impression that this place was supposed to be abandoned rather than fully operational. Or the fact that there's just this factory so close to so many feral territories...did I mishear in the meeting?"

She gave a glance between the others for her answer.

"No matter, let's go home with something of use and not lose anything in the process." She said as she pushed her glasses up and wrapped a scarf around her face before she proceeded forward. It was likely not going to do much but it was what she could fashion on short notice, even if it made her look like a bandit now.

"I'm not sure the plant is active, but there are definitely active chemicals. he said. "Which makes the theory of mutations more likely. That was very large. Not an average hound."

The creature looked to be easily three times the size of a man at the shoulders before it went into the central building.

The place is in a poor state of twisted metal, concrete, and other materials. The main buildings are in a poor state and they see large chewed corpses of thranta and other large beasts outside the central building... even some humanoid sized corpses.

"Does everyone have a respirator?" he took one out of his pack.

Aurilie couldn't help but grimace at the field of death in front of them. Suddenly, 8 casualties seemed like a small number compared to what she was seeing. How long had they been at this? Were there more casualties that weren't reported among the dead creatures and humanoid bodies?

She turned her attention to Galen when he posed the open question. At first, he was asking because of the smell but then was reminded of the potential fumes in the place. Again, she thought she was prepared. "I do not, unfortunately...I can cover the area if need be."

He took out a second one and handed it to her. "In case you need to get closer."

Galen tried to move forward carefully, but the sand slid away beneath him, causing him to stumble and fall with a thud.

There are howls from the kath hounds but Galen noticed that next to the main structure is a ruptured container of hyperfuel and some is still inside though it looks highly unstable.

"Kriff! We need to go." He rose and drew his rifle, aiming it at the rupture container, as he began to back up..
