A lovely evening, (Expecting) (Day 4, ME)

Her ears had been flattening and she doesn't even offer a pity laugh.

"I..." her tail twitches beneath her gown but she drinks a bit more of the wine. "Right," she managed without emotion, resolved to survive the meal. "Well anyways let's change the subject. What don't I know about you?"

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri saw the reaction and frowned folding his hands on the table he gave Breela a direct look "So what's up? is it just the topic that came up or is it something I did?" he asked looking at her "I can usually read people pretty well but I don't need that to see your upset, given the subject I get that and if there's nothing that can help so be it I'll do my best to try and distract you from it but if its something else I'd rather talk it out."

He gave her a a slightly apologetic smile "Sorry if that was abrupt but I have a pretty direct conflict resolution style."

She just stared. Upset? Something you did? Ha!
"No," she lied, "It's nothing you did."
Her thoughts turned briefly back to happier times when Khaji would do the same thing Omandri was doing now. Fumbling for answers where none would satisfy. As in all marriages there were fights, but he knew the secret to ending them. He was good at that.
She continued truthfully, "And I doubt there's anything you can do to fix it. So distract away. What don't I know about you?" Her ears were still flat but she was curious.

He didn't buy it but one couldn't be forced to deal with things in the moment all the time so he continued on as she asked "Hmmm well I think I've told you most of it really, or at least dropped enough hints at some of my past." he said taking another drink and swirling his wine. He maintained a pleasant smile hoping to help offset the darker moods around "Well I went to academy here on Alderaan until I was about thirteen. I graduated early and went to medical school on Courscant where I graduated with my doctorate in general medicine at eighteen. People watched me to see what I would do next, a lot of potential, brilliant mind, other's words not mine." he said with a little sigh.

"To many people's shock I joined the Republic Military as an enlisted Private. I....didn't really get along with the other privates, they saw me as a privileged rich kid, which i mean they weren't wrong about. I moved pretty quickly up through the ranks, became a medic, deployed on a few fronts, did some work with a scout unit." he shrugged "Honestly pretty typical service record. Made friends, lost friends. Saved some people, couldn't do the same for others." he said matter of factly.

He took a deep breath and smiled a little his tone rising a bit "Then I got out, didn't want to come home, never really got along with my family so I spent the past five years or so travelling the galaxy and providing medical care for people that didn't have access to it. I started on core worlds like Courscant, Corellia and such in the slums treating infections, bad breaks, illnesses and the like. Expanded out to Outer Rim hit some undeveloped places some desert communities, jungles, got into xenoanthropology seeing tribes and wandering communities." he sat back in his chair "and well yeah thats about the long of it, pretty much my whole story. I'm sure there's more but those are the broad strokes."

She listened without speaking. She was still angry, irrationally angry about nothing, and everything all at once. But as she listened her ears perked back up and she at least did him the courtesy of accepting his intention. Round about half way through she had stopped glaring and a little smile started to form.

...he sat back in his chair "and well yeah thats about the long of it, pretty much my whole story. I'm sure there's more but those are the broad strokes."

"Geez," she joked, "I meant tell me something you like to do for fun. Like painting, flying, playing music." She purred playfully.

He smiled back seeing her mood turn back toward the positive "Oh." he said simply "Well in that case I enjoy dancing." he finished with a playful smile

"Dancing, huh," she raised an eyebrow, "if I didn't know any better that sounded like a suggestion."

[Omandri Rist]

He shrugged a little there "I wouldn't turn down the opportunity. I already know you have excellent mastery of your body." he said with a mischievous grin "I'm not amazing but practicing martial arts gives some skills that cross over."

[Breela Po]

She smirks, "Don't be so modest. As I recall your athletic prowess is anything but lacking. Not to mention your medical skills cross over really well in... other areas." She winked playfully. Then just before she could suggest how lonely the piano player looked with that big open floor and no dancers swaying to his music.
The food arrived.

"That smells divine!" She stopped herself from salivating.

He chuckled "Well yes I am quite strong but I usually lack a certain...grace." He says after a second looking for the right word "as far my medical knowledge goes, a lot of what you're referring to Ms. Po is simply Anatomy knowing whatever thing does and where it is. A simple task you'd think but one many men fail." He said with a laugh.

As the food arrived he thanked the waiter and looked at his own plate with hungry eyes "Indeed it does, looks cooked to perfection!" He says excitedly as he begins to politely but with gusto dig into his food. "Are you much of a dancer Breela?" He asked between bites.

"I'm okay," She said in between indulgences, "Mmmm," she swallowed, "ohhh force! But ummm, yeah. Dancing and martial arts are pretty generally interwoven. If you... ... if you go back far enough, like to the days of stupid tight pants being the fashion? Dancing was a way for warriors, with an emphasis on men, to show off their battle musculature." A few seconds of face stuffing later, "You can even use throw techniques in dancing - same movement, same use of momentum, minus the sudden stop that trebuchets your opponent... or partner rather." Takes a bite, "Mmmmmhm...."

To happy to talk...

Some time later.

"Much stuffed, such happiness." She says sipping her wine. "I'm glad we did this."

He sat leaning Abita on the table with one arm looking at his date for the evening with a languid smile on his lips as he drank his own wine probably a third glass at this point "Yes, I waited far too long to come here, thank you for giving me a good excuse." He said with a soft laugh

"That dancing suggestion may need to wait until next time, I should have stopped a few bites before it was gone but it was just so good." He said as he sat back a little

[Breela Po]

"Yeah... no dancing. Not this time anyway." She smiled a little looking at Omandri. "Thanks for putting up with me." She says sincerely, "I just... right now, right here, I need a friend. Someone to help me get out of my head, someone to listen to me as I get pesky feelings off my chest. The truth is you're the only person on this planet I feel like I can trust not to have a hidden agenda. It's been refreshing."

He reaches out and sccops up her hand holding it gently in hers "no problem." He said with a smile "we all have our own stuff going on and you've got more on your plate than most." He gave the hand a gentle squeeze. "As I've said before I'm here if you need a friend," he grinned mischievously "or a distraction. You have my number and I'm happy to help." Then the smile he gave her shifted from mischief to more warm Sincerity.

She smiled warmly, "Thank you."
