[Day 3 - EA] Protest Music

Azura had heard about the protests happening again and couldn't resist going. She had even picked up a snack to munch on, amused by the singing.

Hey maybe this one will end up in a fight?

She stayed towards the edges, although perking up a little when she noticed an old friend.

Is that Captain? He protesting? Didn't seem like the type

So these were the people throwing the Ulgo name around for their agenda. She held back a frown, settling into a calm expression instead through sheer discipline.

Kat opted to fold her hands together in front of her, a gesture that made her hands visible rather than hovering near a lightsaber. Something she had learned from her master to seem less threatening and more likely to resort to using the sacred weapon as a crutch in negotiation.

"Why the cruel words for the crown and Panteer? Is the Festival not a time for rejoicement and celebration?" she asked, approaching the group.

One turned and said, "Because Panteer betrayed us! The Queen has grown soft! House Ulgo is the strength we need!"

Well that was a couple of talking-points strung together if she ever heard it.

"And what exactly is this betrayal you speak of?" she asked calmly, but with interest to hear their cause. "I wish to hear what grievances you have with the generous hosts."

"Well... they bowed to the Empire and they are just following the lead of the corrupt Senate! Plus all them aliens diluting our strength! It's obvious!" he said with anger.

A woman backed him up, "Yeah master Jedi, down with Imp lovers!"

Kat wasn't a fan of the senate either, so the matter kind of hit close to home for her. My opinion doesn't matter. Preserving peace, that is the ultimate goal, she reminded herself, steeling her nerves.

"The Republic Senate is not perfect, but my good people, Alderaan is one of the founders of the Republic - one of its strongest voices. And the Alderaanian way has always been to improve and help, rather than abandon," she replied with calm. "Don't forget our roots and way of Alderaanian life. I am Jedi Knight Katarzyna Ulgo, and Alderaan is my home too. House Ulgo is my family - and this is not the way."

"We are not like the Empire who discriminate against aliens. We are better than that."

The man said, "Well aliens are not that bad, my girlfriend is a duros... and she is really nice."

"You really believe that don't you, master Jedi?" he asked.

"I've lived in the Empire. Plenty of people there believe that aliens make them weaker too. It is better to rise above such beliefs." Zeno agreed.

And today a Sith and a Jedi hold hands and tell people the Empire is the worst and aliens are friendly. How ironic.

Azura smirked to herself from her watching position. She didn't know how much good those two would do but it did seem this was going to be less violent than the last one.

"I do, sir," she nodded, giving a small smile of encouragement for him since he seemed to be coming around.

"Nothing is perfect, but that is why we must always seek ways to work together, to make it better. You of course have your right to voice your displeasure, that is the Alderaanian way and the way of the Republic, but your concerns need to be adressed and brought forward in a way that is open to negotiation. Not just shouting angrily, even if things can feel hopeless sometimes."

She gave a small bow to Zeno Thul for adding in his words. "The diversity of the Republic has given much to contribute to our growth and innovations. It's... easy to want to cast blame on someone, when things are hard, but those are the times when we should be standing together."

The woman pointed at Zeno and said, "It's one of them Siths!"

While Kat handled the crowd she could feel Riss' gentle hand touch on her shoulder, and then she slips inside the crowd to go see if she could find an organizer or someone like that. Someone the people protesting would look to, Tuvi as it were.

Disappointed, but not surprised, she pushes her way into the crowd heading towards Julio, intent on stopping him from doing anything stupid and also wanting to get a good look at his new friends.

Julio turned and said, "Lt. what are you doing here?"

"The question is, what are you doing here?" She asks in a hushed tone as she steps in close to him and looks at the people around him.

"Do you want to get pulled by the Blackguard or the Royal Guard and get banned from the Festival grounds?" She tilts her head at him in a questioning manner. "Listen, I can get those... shirts you wanted... you know, the dancing Captain ones." She does a short imitation of the dance.

Julio grinned and gestured for her to follow. The other tough protestors remained.

Taking one last look at the others, Jocasta followed Julio.

He walked a few minutes till they were away from the protests in an alcove and he said, "When can we get the shirts?"

The woman pointed at Zeno and said, "It's one of them Siths!"

"One of them Siths that is no longer an Imperial citizen, no longer a member of the Sith order. I have made my home here, I raise my family here, I live my life here on Alderaan. I am not the only former Imperial to call the Republic home. Plenty of refugees, victims and defectors come to make a better life for themselves. Even among the Jedi there are former Sith that have found a new way to live. I may not be a Jedi, but I am an Alderaanian as my family is. This is my home and I would see it prosper so that my children, and yours, can know strength and peace in the future." Zeno was very matter of fact. This was his home and nobody would tell him otherwise.
