(D4 ME) No Mountain, No Starship

[Cynella Andrim]

"I suppose that is true. To be honest, sometimes I get confused about the differences between royalty and nobility. I mean, yes, they're different, but the distinction can be odd. And then there's who's considered a noble at all." She shook her head. "Maybe planets who've abolished nobility have something going for them."

She smiled, a bit awkwardly. "Oh yes, I have, though in her presence, there's something... off about me. I can't quite explain it. It's like all of my nerves are firing off at once. You're much easier to talk to, at least, for me."

On the topic of children, Cynella nodded along, transforming from eager to more pensive. "Yes, I could see us having strict expectations of them to ensure that they follow their noble duties." She let out a soft sigh. "But perhaps my parents didn't allow me to explore enough. You've had your fun hunting while my parents wouldn't have ever let me do that if I had wanted to. Those experiences must've contributed to who you are today.

"That's not to say, though, that you've had it easier or anything of the sort. I'm sure your parents have annoyed you in some other regard that I'd never even imagine."

"Well, I suppose in Captain Alderaan's place, nobility would likely be more befitting of him. I might have pushed on the side of exaggeration when calling him royalty when he's a sort of military nobility as an officer with many commendations." She nodded on that note. "I suppose there's a difference in philosophy on different worlds but I imagine that they will have leaders among them still."

"It would bother me at least a little if you didn't find me good company in the slightest, Lady Cynella," she said in half-jest. "I suppose the Queen might have that effect on others. I haven't talked to her recently, I admit."

"Admittedly, I didn't really start hunting until far later in my childhood." She admitted with a sigh as she looked off. "I supposed to bring up what I said earlier, my parents did initially have some strict ideas on what would become of my siblings and me, perhaps molds created to fit each child specifically. They would rattle something of tradition and arrangement of the sort, that would have likely been enough to put us in our place. Admittedly, there eventually did come a time when I wouldn't let such things command my life and I took it on my own to steer myself toward what I wanted, perhaps then only becoming who I am today."

The sociological divisions started to confuse her even more. "All I know is that he's famous and deserving of every accolade, perhaps more," she said with an awkward smile. "I'm glad, in a way, that I won't be having to forfeit my noble status via some other marriage."

Talks of the queen still gave her shivers. "I certainly hope I'm more prepared tonight. It'd be a shame to embarrass myself again. After all, regardless of who I marry, I'll still have to see her from time to time!"

She raised a brow. "Oh? Then we're more similar in that regard than I'd thought." Her expression turned more pensive, her head hanging in thought. "Yes, I'm glad for you. That sounds very much like something Ser Keyhote would say, actually. No wonder you two get along."

Aurilie brought her closer for a moment, perhaps what would be considered a hug with Cynella around her arm. "You'll be able to do just fine. I'm sure you could confound her with your charm and enthusiasm at the very least. She'll appreciate you as a memorable guest at the very least."

"We are," she nodded, perhaps a bit on a dour note but it didn't last long. "So I suppose perhaps all the more reason that I would allow my future children to follow the opportunities they wish to seek. Perhaps easier said than done, perhaps it will hurt me in unexpected ways but it would be even more devastating to have their potential squandered just to fulfill my selfish mindset of them. And thank you. Yes, it does help a lot to have the company of Ser Keyhote around to maintain these romantic ideals in my thoughts."

Cynella accepted the semi-hug, leaning into it with her usual amiability. "Confound her? Ah, well, I've certainly done that before." She hoped that Aurilie wouldn't pry anymore into how she'd done that. "I'd like to think this dress will do well to leave an impression, at least!"

Mentions of that Hutt always seemed to get a smile out of her. "Experience the galaxy, that sort of thing, hm? I must say, I've learned quite a bit even during my short stay here on Alderaan."

"Of course, I mean in a good way," she laughed in good humour, in case she took that the wrong way. "Too much of a good thing can seem perplexing to some people, I imagine. Of course, your intricate dress is bound to turn heads too. I am lucky to get such a preview."

"Yes, on the outside, but I think the greater message from Ser Keyhote is perhaps living life to the fullest where possible. If he's been able to do it for a few centuries, so the least we could do is follow in his example for a few decades, if not our entire lives. Something to live by, it shouldn't be surprising he managed to make his way to many conversations." She nodded.

"Speaking of that, shall we continue to with the fair?" she offered, gesturing toward the Ferris wheel in the distance. It was hard to miss with all of the neon lights installed along its metal frame body. "I suppose it's not a thranta but I think you'll find the accommodations a little more furnished and relaxed to your liking, perhaps?"

"Oh? Do you believe that I'm going to be so intoxicating that I end up stunning the Queen?" Cynella asked, joining in the laughter. "You have no idea how long it took to get this entire ensemble together. Lots of experimentation and then the actual putting it on... ugh! It's why I don't usually try so hard." She was referring to that signature jacket of hers, currently out of sight.

"I suppose he has many more years over us to have that wisdom. Lucky for us, he can give it to us in our relative youth."

She grinned. "But for now, we're not here to do important, wise things, are we? We're here to enjoy the fair, aren't we?"

"Well, we can only hope, right? I'm sure keeping the Kuati Houses in the forefront of the Queen's mind will only do good for future ties in any form. I think she should have an eye for fashion to know the effort you put into your outfit than one merely plucked from the rack," she said in encouragement.

"But, yes! Let's return to the fair. There is still so much to do before our time is over," she nodded and led the way toward the Ferris wheel she pointed out earlier.
