A bit of relaxin (Day 2, Late Evening)

It was later in the day and many of the Faire goers had retired today, and a lot of stalls and booths were close to closing. Plenty were still open though, especially those serving drinks and street food. Which made it pretty easy for Gil to get the drink he had promised himself.
Of course he had one with Omandri earlier but that had exactly counted, there was business involved after all. Standing behind the seats he watched one of the plays being pit on. An overly romantic thing about true love, and a man with six fingers. It wasn't bad but not quite his cup of tea. Still it was something to do as he sipped at his bright pink colored drink. Maybe he shouldn't of gone with the spring breeze?

There was a heavily armed and armored Jedi there; which was sure to draw attention, and rist-aligned individuals might pay even closer attention, depending on how far word of the vendetta had been disseminated down the ranks. Either way, it was hard to miss the black clad Sith-turned-Jedi as she went to look for a real drink; none of this brightly colored stuff.
Oh, there *was* something else that could draw attention to her...
...the smell. She'd come here straight from an excursion into a Killik hive, and there may have been a few moments of physical contact with some of the frenzying creatures. Hell, the cut on her cheek suggested as much. Some of the smell probably got stuck.
None of this seemed to register with Layne herself though, who strolled around as if she either didn't know or didn't care about how people might respond to her presence.

Gil had know about the problem jedi only a shirt time after Layne did most likely. The Rist information network was a good one after all. Spotting her in the crowd and more then that smelling her Gil took a sip of his drink and straightened.
While his main duty was a bodyguard his family was also servants and he did know a bit about these kind of situations, at least vaguely. Making his way over he greeted the young woman with a dip of his head. "Lady Jedi, perhaps I could be of assistance?"

She stopped, a little confused at the 'lady' part being put in front of the 'jedi' part.
"Uh... you can point me in the direction of the liquor?"

"How about I do one better?" He asked as he reached into his pocckets producing a few wet naps and a little vial of perfume. "I'll go get you a drink as you freshen up a bit?" He asked as he offered the wetnaps and vial to the jedi.
His eyes glanced towards the crowd and some of the looks the JEdi was likely getting. "It might make your evenign a bit better?"

She wasn't sure if this was some sort of pick-up routine, or an effort to keep the scary armed Jedi from upsetting anymore people. Either way, so long as she was getting a drink out of it she would take it as a win. The perfume though... well, that was *ignored*. The other stuff, well she supposed she could at least make *some* effort to get the worst of it before taking a shower later on.
"...thanks."

"Happy to help Lady Jedi." Gil replied, though he did raise an eyebrow when she turned down the perfume. Still if she wanted to smell like a swamp, who was he to argue. "Any requests on the drink? Or should I just get you something gaily colored and fruity?" He asked as he motioned towards the pink drink he has set aside on a conveniently placed table.

"Absolutely not," she said, "Hard liquor or go home."
After something like what she'd just gone through, anything less simply wouldn't do. Not at all.

He smirked slightly at that. "Alright then." He finished his drink as he made his way off to one of the nearby stalls. Letting the Jedi clean up as he ordered and made his way back.
It was a couple minutes due to the line but soon enough he was back with a whiskey on the rocks and something orange and a little festive for himself. "Whiskey alright?"

"...sure," she said, casting him a bit of a skeptical look. Which was mostly reserved for his colorful drink; she took the whiskey from him and downed enough of it in one go to maybe inspire some raised eyebrow action.
"...thanks."
She blinked, before realizing she should probably introduce herself. "Layne Hoshin. Jedi Knight."

"It's a faire after all." He replied as he spotted her eyes on his drink, before taking a sip. Well, at least it was better then the pink one.
"And a pleasure to meet you Miss Hoshin, I'm Gil Corren. Security and bodyguard for House Rist."

Instantly, her mood soured. Well, it hadn't been a great mood to begin with, but still. It got worse.
"So, either the drink was poisoned, in which case that's against the rules as I understand them... or you're here to keep an eye on me and report your findings back to your masters."

"You can assume one of those are the case if you wish." He replied with a shrug.
"But really I just saw a Jedi, those known as protectors of the republic wandering through a faire looking something like a rampaging savage and thought I should do something before there was a scene." He took a sip of his drink. "Though I suppose that's not much better."

Well, he wasn't endearing himself to her by calling her a savage. Not that he was necessarily *wrong*, relatively speaking and from a certain point of view, but still.
"The people you work for are the real savages," she said, looking down at the still half-full glass of whiskey before downing the rest of it. If there was any poison in there, she might as well get a buzz going.
"At least I don't pretend I'm something I'm not. Nor do I go around breaking the arms of innocent kids and threatening them."

"If I was going to poison you I probably wouldn't of told you I worked with House Rist." Gil observed as he looked towards her glass. "Wouldn't want you running off to take any antidotes or something." His lips ticked into a frown for a moment. "Not that I've ever poisoned someone, so maybe lettign them know is proper protocol."
He shook his head. "That's neither here or there though. A lot of people in this galaxy are savages, and sometimes it takes a savage response to deal with them wouldn't you say?" Most would say killing someone was pretty savage. "Not that I am defending the actions of the gentleman you killed, honestly I didn't know him or what he was doing. Though it does sound rather savage from your words."

Joke's on him, Jedi can just shrug off poison. Well, most of the time. Either way, not something to mention. Just in case.
"He was a very bad man," she said to the rest of his words, "Assassins tend not to be good people, if that wasn't clear already to begin with. I'm not going to blame someone working for people like that in order to make a living, but I *will* tell them that there are other ways to make that living, and they got to decide what's more important to them. A few more credits than they'd get from honest work, or being able to live with themselves once karma comes calling for them."

"Some things aren't about the credits, Miss Hoshin." Gil replied, his lips twitching up into a whisper of a smile. "Not that I'm going to argue my service with you though, and if Karma deems that what I do is unacceptable." He shrugged. "I suppose I will deal with that when it comes looking."
He took a sip from his orange thing. "Would you like another drink?"

"Why *do* you do what you do, then?" Layne completely ignored the part about not arguing his service, then shrugged at the mention of another drink. The shrug *seemed* like it could be interpreted as a yes.

He nodded and started to lead the young woman towards one of the drink stands. "Filal piety is a good part of it, my family has served the house Rist for generations, it was expected i do as well as the eldest child of my family. Tohe Rist's have treated us well over the years after all, and it's seen as something of our obligation as a family to serve, and as the eldest it is my duty to provide a fine example for my siblings."
He paused for a moment. "though I suppose that might seem a bit odd from an outsider."

As he talked, Layne busied herself with picking out a drink, pouring it into a glass, then pouring it from that glass into another glass, until he finished.
"...yup," she said at that point, before taking a gulp. "Fine family business I suppose. Helping another family with organized murder for profit. Guess that's the sort of thing outsiders just can't understand."
