[Day 5 - EA] Flower Court is in Session!

Flower Court was upon the festival and a local Panteer citizen named Flori Guza was crowned the Flower Queen at Dawn ad would reign until sundown when the crown would be returned to Queen Panteer. Her decree for the day was that the children must have sweet treats and that they should bring the children and the young people delicious things to eat.

Jameela was present handing out sweet cakes from a stall she was running, Lana Beniko was in the back of the stall decorating the cakes.

OOC: Players can roll an Education (Intellect) to recall a tasty recipe to make, Survival (Cunning) to utilize a natural knowledge of what tastes right, or Deception (Cunning) to pawn off something they purchased or acquired as their own. For the children. This is an optional check, not required. The difficulty is Easy.

The Jedi Knight, despite current scandalous affairs of her fellow Jedi, was present and was helping with cooking up something delicious for the people.

With some funds from House Ulgo, she was serving out colorful and pretty looking desserts.

"Oh those look amazing!" Jameela said with excitement.

"They were very popular on Coruscant a couple of years ago. Please, have one, your highness," Kat smiled and offered one to the princess. It was topped with juicy red berries.

“Really, I would feel guilty taking something for the children, but it looks so good,” she said battling with her ethics before taking it.

“Just one.”


It is quickly consumed, daintily.

Galen had found a large harvest of wild berries and put together a quick treat for the children.

"I hope these will work." he offered.

Kat was visibly impressed with how quickly it was consumed. "Wow... now that's a party trick."

Galen's treat looked quite delicious as well. "Those look wonderful. Is it a cake?"

Lana said, “Galen please place that here and we can begin serving them.”

[Galen Sol]

"A cheesecake" he answered, as he set the tray down. "Soft cheese, cream and a little sugar."

[Dapper Dog]

A child came up and said, “Can I has cheesercakes, pwease. Dat ones.” They pointed at the tray Galen brought in.

"Of course." he smiled and began serving.

[Brannis Ulgo]

Bran wasn't really the warm and fuzzy type, and children seemed like a rather odd audience given his serious responsibilities.

But it took 1.5 seconds for him to remember that all the terrible grown-up stuff that he did was at least in part so that young people wouldn't have to do the same terrible things when they grew up. So hand out treats to kids, and get to see them happy and excited? Yeah, he was there. Actually wearing the rather ostentatious, oversized beach shirt from the day before, because bright colors and flowers were basically the theme. Kaleena had tried to tell him it was too much, not proper or respectable enough, but he'd overruled her this time. If one kid would get a laugh from seeing a scary bomber pilot in a bright, flowery shirt, then Bran was making it happen.

Not wanting to involve the Ulgo house servants, Bran imposed on his parliamentary staff to help prepare something special for the kids. Even skeptical Kaleena had to concede, "Ok, well, these are really great cookies, Bran, but you can't say they're the best on Alderaan. It sounds too arrogant. Don't call them the best, ok?"

Bran soft-pedaled at the event, saying they "Might be the very best cookies on Alderaan." And he never missed an opportunity to note that, "They're even better because they're small, so you can eat more of them." That's when kids and adults got the beaming smile that Bran's handlers had probably been waiting to see the entire festival so far.

Jameela looked at Brannis and said, "You bake?"

Jocasta wasn't much of a baker, but she had always liked the bread pudding Sergeant Major Teral would make from time to time. She couldn't reach him to get the exact recipe, but a few trial batches came up with something that might taste even better.

Thinking about the nature of the event, she decided it would be more convenient to bake them into small muffins... She also slipped a bit of Bespin Brandy into the custard of one batch to hold in reserve for the parents.

Jocasta lowers her head in a small bow and out of gratitude. "You are too kind Princess, your sweet cakes were delicious."

She pulls out some of her reserved stock. "These have a little extra kick for the adults if you prefer. Feel free to share some with your friend the delegate, and maybe one or two for Prince Joran."

Baking was not in Gil's wheelhouse, sure he could make simpel meals and flip a pancake, but making sweets? Well, if charcoal cookies were something people were interestedin he could try his hand. So instead he'd tried his hand at freshfruit skewers, a sweet and healthy alternative to all the cakes and cookies arounf the flower court. They weren't a big success, something so plain among all these fancy deserts were easily overlooked. Still he seemed to earn some smile from the parents at his attempt at providing something somewhat healthy.

Bran hadn't noticed Jameela's approach and is flustered for a moment.

"Um. Well, not as much as I'd like to, Princess, but... I can manage a few things. I worked out this recipe with my mother when I was younger." He half-smiles, looking a little embarassed. "Hard to keep up practice when you're deployed, but... Just about everyone loves these, so they're a smart play as long as you can find ingredients. Never seen any go to waste," he says with a chuckle. "Please, try one. Although I should warn, today's batch is really baked just right, so you may have a hard time stopping at one." The smile on his face is more warm and friendly than it has been since before the invasion.
