[Day 2, ME] Hunting Party

"Thank you, Prince Unther." Galen nodded. "Can you tell us anything about the area surrounding the site?"

“The location was remote on purpose to minimize ecological impact and for security reasons. Desolate desert, temperatures in excess of 30 degrees daily and dropping to well below 5 at night. Very little water and access was normally by shuttle or speeder; travel on foot is not recommended. If there is a pack of kath hounds I suppose they found a source of water onsite… I would not drink it,” he said in reply.

Sounded like a terrible vacation-destination. Better requisition one of those thermal cloaks, and stock up on the sunscreen.

"What other wildlife is in the area there?" she inquired.

"Minimal, not much can survive out there," he said honestly.

"That would suggest the contaminated water is the source of the mutations. Do the Alderaanian authorities wish the site destroyed after this mission to prevent re-occurrence?"

"Umm, lets assess the state of the site and we can determine what should be done with it," Unther said looking at the droid.

"Ah ha! This must be the noble group of adventurers also hunting the vile Black Tooth, onwards Pantha!"
Keyhote bursts into the small room, hovering this way and that to avoid running anyone over while his squire hurries around handing out business cards for his master.

"Oh my, there are rather a lot of you. All the better to rid this planet of such a foul scourge! The noble Prince Aurilie and I had already set our minds to such a task but now I find that this festival has brought together so many more in this cause of love. Let us pool our efforts! Let us venture outward! Let us quest!"

With Keyhote and Pantha providing the vanguard to their entrance, said Prince Aurilie would step in afterwards. She was still dressed in her dapper shooting outfit from earlier but it still seemed appropriate given the circumstance. "Good evening everyone. Yes, as Ser Keyhote said, better to pool our efforts than stumbling in the dark without a clue. At the very least, we don't want to be shooting at shadows when it proves to be just us lurking in the dark at different times, right?"

"I think I need larger quarters." Galen mumbled to himself.

"Welcome, thank you for coming." he greeted the newcomers. "My name is Galen Sol."

"Ah yes, the soup connoisseur! I suppose it is no surprise a man so well travelled would have a taste for the hunt!"

"I hunt problematic creatures that pose a significant threat to sapient lives." he nodded.

She frowned on that note. "Yes, this beast has proven more than a nuisance with the inflicted casualties, as I'm sure you all know and why you've answered this call to arms. I would have thought the local killik population might prove troublesome too, giving it some indirect refuge. Personally, I had hoped that finding this beast won't require any entanglements with those pests."

[Breela Po]

Breela shows up late and bows, "Good evening, sorry I'm late." She notices the droid and... a hutt?? Ummmm... Baesel and Katarzyna are here so this is the right place. She enters and introduces herself, "Breela Po, veteran warrior."

"I hunt problematic creatures that pose a significant threat to sapient lives." he nodded.

"I hope I might lend some small assistance to that end, also let me know if you need creds and I'll happily donate money to the cause."

She frowned on that note. "Yes, this beast has proven more than a nuisance with the inflicted casualties, as I'm sure you all know and why you've answered this call to arms. I would have thought the local killik population might prove troublesome too, giving it some indirect refuge. Personally, I had hoped that finding this beast won't require any entanglements with those pests."

"The killik avoid it, unless it threatens their hives." he shook his head. "It passes through their hivelands, but it's lair is deep in the sands."

To inform the new arrivals, he quickly went over the information regarding the fuel processing plant, the use of it by the Empire, and the bombing of it by the Republic, potentially creating a corruptive water source, that may have mutated the hounds.

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"So what we have on the agenda is to eliminate the danger, determine what caused these mutations if possible, and to assess the area to evaluate the level of contamination. Does this seem correct?" Kat asked Galen and Unther both, as the prince seemed to be something of an overseer.

[Galen Sol]

"I think so." he nodded. "But, we aren't sure of the danger, either. Reports suggested Black Tooth was leading a pack. We don't know how many hounds we may be dealing with or, if they are mutated, how dangerous they are individually."

[Desilijic Keyhote]

"Whether it be one mutated monstrosity or an army of them; they stand no chance before a questing force of noble knights. Armour your heart and your body with love and the creatures shall fall."

"I think so." he nodded. "But, we aren't sure of the danger, either. Reports suggested Black Tooth was leading a pack. We don't know how many hounds we may be dealing with or, if they are mutated, how dangerous they are individually."

"Right. A scouting mission first might be prudent, to properly assess the threat."

Contaminated water causing mutations, possibly a whole pack, and Killiks.

This was becoming very dangerous, very quick. But also... ok, water available in the desert would surely attract the pack, but if there was little other wildlife in the area, why would they settle there?...

One way or another...

He nodded at Baesal. "I... would also suggest capturing the hounds would be best. Maybe assess better what's making them particularly aggressive towards humans. If this is due to mutations caused by the contamination... we may have some more ecological and physiological studies to conduct. And in that case... keeping the animals alive would not only be more respectful, but also prove useful, I believe. Maybe some folks at the university could help with these studies if we manage to neutralize them and bring them back in one piece."

"As for Killiks, though..." he looked at Baesal somewhat worried. "Let's hope we won't have to deal with both things at once, yeah? I think that'd be for the best..."

He nods at the Ulgo dignitary, his face serious, although maybe a bit too eager for the circumstances. "A surveying mission first sounds good. I could volunteer for both scouting and the capture mission... assuming my field research and xenobio expertise will be of help, of course."

"Scouting, trapping, culling if necessary, and exploration and assessment." Galen went over the list. "There's also cleansing the hounds and the area of any contaminants, if we succeed with the rest. We don't know what we'll find out there, but we have a wide array of knowledge, skills and resources here. If we take things step by step, I think we can manage."
