[Day 2 - LM] Soup for the Masses (Twin Event)

by Jameela Panteer
Jameela was at the cafeteria serving the masses with Miyi Thul helping to clear tables and Lana Beniko helping the princess give out food to the people. Ziandra Thul was keeping things organized and orderly although she wasn’t directly working.

She was in good spirits and seemed genuinely happy to be helping the people.

Joran was not happy, this was beneath him and he was dragging his feet and just generally being a total jerk about doing anything labor wise. He was more prone to just ignore the people or take a seat somewhere and watch the holos and avoid working.

This was peasant work.

Ziandra tended to the people by acting as hostess and making sure everything ran smoothly while also staying clean and aloof of the actual work but still being useful.

At Jameela's side helping her dish out the food was Lana Beniko, calm and observant.

Stoic to the end as her yellow eyes observed all around her.

Miyi was playing waitress, which was an adventure for her.

Invited last night by two separate individuals, Garth couldn’t stay away and turned up, dressed down in a simple t-shirt and cargo pants to help distribute to the masses – but also to keep an eye out for trouble.

He boldly approached Ziandra, who appeared to be overseeing things and offered her a smile and nod of greeting. "Duchess Thul, last night your cousin Miyi suggested ah might lend a hand this morning. Anywhere in p'ticular that needs some extra hands?"

Delmi too arrived at the event… in theory there was a reason for her to be present in these places to increase her viability as a candidate and draw her House’s attention, but this didn’t make the work any less tedious.

Her mind lingered on the battle plan for this evening as she did her best to stay active.

“Well we need more table setup, so if you can get that going I will direct more over to you to get them setup. Large crowd this morning, and thank you for joining us,” she said.

"Maybe see if the Prince will help."

Miyi waved at Garth as she passed by to pick up another order.

Riss was there, a part of her felt like this might be a good thing to try. Helping people seemed like a good way to clear some of the red in her morality ledger but.. this was exhausting. It didn't help she still had a massive hangover from last nights drinking and had to occasionally stop to nurse the headache. Still, she had a forward friendly enough face. Taking what opportunities she could to chat more with folk, strike up conversations about nonsense to help pass the time, it slowed her work but people tended to enjoy that.

Certainly more than the grump which she glanced at from time to time mid working. Finding a moment she slips up next to him, giving him a gentle bump in the side with her elbow. "Out of the two of us, you look like the one nursing a hangover," she said, looking out over the place in front of her and only turning to look to him with a smirk after a few seconds.

This was a more comfortable environment for Galen. It was still a bit crowded, but with people he could identify with. It reminded him of some of the days on Bankor.

He helped people find seats and get food, especially the children. He entertained some of the kids while they waited, showing Navi to them and even letting some play with him.

Kellen had taught enough undergrad field courses, and run enough digs, to know how to handle a mass feeding. The trick was not to get too overwhelmed by portion sizes, and to assume that anyone with allergies was going to tell you about them in advance. He happily helped out wherever he was needed.

Honestly he quite liked this sort of work. It made people feel good, and tended to bring out the best or worst in people. In some cases, the extra worst.

Archie made sure to help with bringing the food in, keeping everyone's spirits up with his can do attitude. He, of course, found a more practical outfit to wear, the only thing separating his looks from the commoners in the moment being the signet ring he wears.

Garth accepts the assignment with a simple, "Yes, Duchess," then returns Miyi's wave with a smile and wave of his own as he walks over to the largest trestle table he can find and grabs one end. Dragging it across the ground, conveniently close to the Prince he raises his voice ever so slightly, just enough to carry to the ears of some nearby bystanders.

"Excuse me Prince Joran, don' s'pose ah could trouble ye fer a hand?"

Helping people, getting eyes on Thuls in the wild, getting to observe prince and princess with the people. It would be a waster opportunity to not go. Omamdri arrived roughly the same time Riss did taking stock of the situation and looking about helping where was necessary set up or passing out food.

The whole time a pleasant smile was on his lips even if he did have a little bit of soreness in his lower back. Damn couch.

Wearing her usual jedi-garb, Katarzyna was of course present to help out. It brought back a lot of memories in her earlier years with the Order, and with all the fighting she'd been involved in the past years, it hadn't given her much chance to take part in this - the simple task of just helping others.

Though the people they were serving here were a lot more well off than the slums on Coruscant.

Joran dragging his feet was sadly something to disapprove of. Neither of the twins seemed really capable of being good rulers at this point. Garth seemed to be having it well in hand to approach the prince though.

Zeno was present and assisting as well. He didn't see it completely the same way Joran did, but understood why the Prince would want to avoid the work. This was a whole exercise in relatability but he honestly doubted anyone would feel a Sith-blooded noble was at all relatable even if he was serving them food. But he kept a smile and was as charming as he could be.

Niall was used to this sort of work, of course. He'd done it as a noble, he'd done it on Bankor, he'd done it all sorts of places. This was the first time he'd done it on Alderaan in a long time, though. He worked with military efficiency... but still made sure to give his traditional Captain Alderaan smile, of course.

As he worked, he made his way closer to Jameela and her Sith escort. "You seem quite cheerful this morning, Princess Jameela." He offered, smiling.

"Pardon my ignorance, but isn't this something more suitable for, well, employees? It's not that I mind putting in the effort but I figure we could simply pay somebody an honest wage for such things." Cynella smiled meekly. "Ah, but forgive me for my musings... I haven't even properly introduced myself!" After a bow, she got to the glorious recitation. "I am Cynella Rhiannon Esmetrice Andrim, though Cynella works all the same."

Jocasta made her way to the Festival Housing after a light breakfast. She was looking forward to the event. There wasn't much free time in the ADF, but she did try to commit a few hours each month to charity and outreach programs. She had even convinced her father to host an assistance program for all the recent refugees through House Teraan.

She began by organizing the guests. They were about five times more polite and less rowdy than a squad of hungry troopers, but not as disciplined and it was making for a very inefficient process, one of her pet peeves. Jocasta was disappointed to see Prince Joran dragging his feet. It was unbecoming of a noble and of a soldier to shirk their duties. She did note one of the ladies from last night's mixer approaching the Prince, a privateer if she had heard correctly. Hopefully the woman could entice the Prince to help out, otherwise Jocasta might need to invoke her old drill sergeant and put boots to ass.

Bran, in contrast to some of the nobles, is actually quite pleased to attend and participate in as much work as he can do -- except for the leadership role that Thul and Lana Beniko seem to have. In a nice-looking but plain shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and forcing there to be a smile on his face as much as possible despite some of the company, Brannis looks exactly like the man of the people that he aspires to be.

His smiles are not increased by Kaleena's attempts to get good holos for his parliamentary social media, which he largely manages to stymie by not smiling or not looking toward the camera at critical times.

But that effort, while it doesn't undercut the good work he's doing, does mean that at one point he accidentally bumps into someone.

"Oh, sorry, ah," he's quick to say, smiling apologetically as he turns -- to see that he'd bumped into Lana Beniko. "Ah... Ambassador, um, Beniko, was it?" It's impossible to tell whether his smile falls away from confusion about addressing her or discomfort that he is addressing her.
