Day 4 ME: Finishing touches

Her work was almost finished.

She paused briefly to take a breather before going back to the bench

This might be great news for a lot of Jedi who had been maimed during the war...having a cybernetic limb that might feel somewhat like a real one might bring a degree of solace to her comrades.

But as she worked...something felt wrong. It was an old thing, buried deep inside her head. An old echo from her days on Korriban...but she was not that girl anymore. She resisted the temptation but in doing so her work progressed precious little.

Meanwhile in a room right next to the one Baesal was working in...

...Layne had been working on upgrading the plasma shield on her armor some more. Which *wasn't* going very well. But *how*!? Layne was like a super S-tier mechanic!

Baesal might hear a muffled "Motherfu--" through the walls, followed by the lights in the building flickering for a moment, followed by a set of doors to the hallway opening and closing abruptly as Layne went to get some air.

Baesal looked away from her workbench, wondering what the heck was going on until the likely coupable was heard.

''What are you doing Layne? You almost caused a power failure!''

She thought for a second

''Are you directly plugged in the house's powergrid?''

[Layne Hoshin]

"I..." she looked at the emerging Togruta. "...noo!"

And turned away.

"...yes. I was trying to improve my plasma shield generator. It didn't work."

Baesal blinked but once

''Well...it is a complex device. I could take a look tomorrow if you want...but I at least would suggest to find yourself an alternative powersource the the house itself''

"...right," she gripped her forehead. Something she'd been doing a lot today. Something she might be doing again in a few seconds, too.

"By the way... you *did* take that scan, right? You took a *copy* right?"

[Baesal Zyn]

The togrua rolled her eyes ''Tethys did one today, sastisfied?''

[Layne Hoshin]

"...for now," she said, perhaps somewhat ominously. Maybe she played that part up.

Baesal did seem to be more herself now, though. Although it was hard to tell unless they wanted to have another debate about the Killik, which Layne was *not* in the mood for.

"...how's Daz doing, by the way?"

[Baesal Zyn]

''Good. He does not seem to let his fame get to his head...and he still understands the situation well enough.''

She spoke with a degree of certainty

''I warned him about the Cabal''

[Layne Hoshin]

She thought about that for a moment.

"He's definitely a Hoshin..." she said with a shrug, "but well... he's a Hoshin. We get stupid about stuff, but we end up doing the right thing in the end."

''Speaking about getting stupid about stuff...what happened today?''

[Layne Hoshin]

She shrugged. "I exploded. Fell from the 767th floor. Found a dead hutt. Arrested a Star Cabal spy. Then let her go."

It was all simple enough, wasn't it? Nothing remarkably whatsoever...

Baesal stared a moment and shrugged back

''A day in Layne's shoe I guess. Want something to drink I keep some alcohol hidden in case of rough days''

[Layne Hoshin]

"Sure, I could use another drink I suppose," she said. "Oh, I'm not getting assassinated anymore. At least, not by anyone in House Rist. Or... well... unless they're going against the wishes of the Duchess... which might in fact be a thing."

''Ever tasted Wooky red spruce beer?'' she asked

[Layne Hoshin]

"Uh... no, pretty sure I've never tasted anything made by wookies before."

[Baesal Zyn]

''Beer...is not the right word for it. At thirty per cent alcohol it's something else entirely.'' she moved to her room and lifted her mattress to reach into the box spring, bringing a gourd like container from it.

''There...'' she out two glasses down ''...the herbal taste is strong but damn does it revigorate''

[Layne Hoshin]

Layne slammed hers down pretty fast. It should of course be no surprise that she had the kind of constitution that could easily handle such drinks. Thirty percent was nothing of course, and the herbs, well... she didn't even have the kind of flinching reaction to the taste that Baesal might've been hoping to see.

"...Not bad."

''I know! Right?'' she grins as she sip her drink instead of downing it in one go ''More?''

[Layne Hoshin]

"I'm not a drunk," she said, though the cup was held out.
