COTOR - Contacts of the Old Republic

by Blai Frayus
Figured we might use one of these? :D

Blai is the middle child of an Alderaanian Bureaucrat (dad) and a Jedi Knight (mom) who is cousin to the Matriarch of Minor House Frayus. His younger sister is training to be a Jedi, and his older brother is a politician in the Lower House who's already married. Jedi might know his mom or little sister, and those with links to Alderaanian politics might know his brother or dad.

He's also a researcher working for the University of Alderaan, so if any others have ties to the university he could have met you there, or at least heard of you.

Also, as a field xenobiologist, he spends most of his time travelling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Quite a few of the places are off the main trade routes, and he often needs to carry samples, specimens or other things, preferably without many questions or too much bureaucracy... so freighters don't quite cut it. As a result, he often relies on smugglers or others who often travel around these areas... so if you fit one of these, you may have met him during his travels (as already discussed, that's how he met Riss, with whom he's coming back to Alderaan)

by Katarzyna Ulgo
Kat is born and raised on Alderaan, a child to heroes who gave their lives to save hostages from the Sith during the occupation during the old war. She's the niece of Bouris Ulgo.

Most of her teen and adult years have been spent off-planet, but she's been back to Alderaan frequently as a Jedi - as she's a native who knows the customs and ways of life on the planet, she's been a good candidate for the Jedi Order to keep an eye on things and mediate when possible. So likely that she's run into other locals in those years.

Has also been around the Outer Rim worlds, mostly those in need of a lightsaber and humanitarian aid after the Sith has meddled with the lives of the people there. (And yes, she knows Riss too from these travels xD).

Recently, she was on Coruscant when the Sith attacked. And afterwards took part in the defense of Alderaan against the Empire.

by Riss
Riss has been all around the galaxy for the last 9-10 years, with the last 6-7 being on her own with her ship she's doing now. Plenty of opportunity for her to have crossed paths with most folk almost anywhere but especially those who have some need for crossing paths with a "Republic privateer" as she's got some solid ties in. Having a list of folk she's been involved with in her past to run into is always a fun vibe, so if you wanna work something with that I'm open to chatting about it. Otherwise, she's usually anywhere she can find a good vibe or a nice intake of credits so we can do something with those as well!

by Tarlia Nirazas
Tarlia was born to the nobility of Onderon, her family has a reputation for its closeness to the crown. They are staunchly loyal, and rumored to be an illegitimate cadet branch of the royal line. The latter dates back to the period after the Onderon civil war when the surviving members of the Nirazas family adopted a child said to have come from Queen Talia herself. Regardless no real link has ever been established.

The young Jedi was adopted into the order at an early age, around 4-5 years old and has only returned home on a handful of occasions to visit her biological parents. She would be more known among the soldiers of the Republic, having spent the bulk of her padawan years fighting alongside her master in the on and off conflict with the Sith.

After losing her master and being elevated to a full Knight, Tarlia has spent more time in contemplation and taking on humanitarian tasks. A measure that is believed by those that know her to have been mandated by the Council.

by Desilijic Keyhote
Keyhote is older than most here, but it's not impossible he came across someone or their parents/grandparents in his long quest across the galaxy.

You're more likely to have run into him if you:
  • Have ever attended any other centres of romance such as destination romantic worlds, cultures with strong or unusual romantic traditions or famous locations from romantic stories
  • Have ever needed a Hutt to condemn slavery from a viewpoint of love
  • Have ever acted the villain and kidnapped a Damsel or Mansel, if you were the hero there, or indeed the kidnapee
  • Have had dealings with the Desilijics and thought 'huh, that Hutt was less terrible than expected'

by Galen Sol
There are a number of ways people may have crossed paths with Galen….

Galen has very few memories of life before being sold into slavery. The man who purchased him, Janus Sol, was a hunter in need of fresh live bait. Galen's connection to the Force allowed him to survive longer than any of his predecessors and he spent years serving, and learning, from Janus. Ultimately, Galen learned enough about the Force and the creatures they hunted to lead a pack of predators back to camp and to Janus. After his master's death, he spent years traveling by himself and surviving on his own.

Eventually, he found his way to Nar Shaddaa where he became a gun for hire, specializing in hunting for exotic pets and trophies. This led him to join the crew of the Starcross, but after a job went bad, he left the ship and the Smuggler's Moon behind. He traveled on his own again for some time, before signing on to fight with the Republic for Bankor. After that conflict, he remained on Bankor, living among the Tree Fishers of the Veridian Sea.

During his time on Nar Shaddaa Galen found a lightsaber among the wreckage of a crashed barge. After repairing it, he was visited on Bankor by the spirit of its late owner, Jedi Knight Yulu Kess. He began to learn from him, but eventually chose to journey to Coruscant to return the saber to the Jedi Order, to put the spirit to rest. The Jedi returned the saber to him with a holocron of Kess' teachings, so that Galen could continue learning.

He continues to sell his skills with rifle and saber to those in need of a hunter. He no longer takes jobs for those seeking something unique for their collections, however. Galen hunts only those creatures who have become an excessive danger to civilized areas. He removes them if he can, but will kill if he must.

by Tethys Carrack
I think it's fun to meet people for the first time, too...

A mix is good!

But aside from people who were in the Bankor strike force and other Jedi, in the last five years or so Tethys could've caught a lift with anyone who has a starship, flies around the Outer Rim, and would willingly carry a Jedi passenger.

by Omandri Rist
Like many here Omandri has spent the last 4-5 years bouncing around the outer rim, mostly focusing on under developed planets or places with people that don't have access to proper medical care.

Before that he served in the republic military for about 5 years as an enlisted medic.

And he is a member of a noble house so could have met other Alderaanian nobles as a child before he went to university

by Layne Hoshin
So, mostly covered some of this already in my char profile. But here's some more ways in which one can have had prior encounters with Layne:
  • As a kid, Layne was a slave in the employ of a gang of vicious slave raiders; travelling all over the outer rim.
  • As a teenager, she instead spend a number of years doing hard slave labor on Kessel.
  • Then there's empire stuff! She assassinated a lot of people for Darth Baras. Maybe you were one of the people she assassin-- no wait, that doesn't make sense. Maybe she assassinated someone you know! Maybe you saw her assassinate someone!
  • Then there's jedi stuff! She kept herself from assassinating a lot of people as a Jedi! Also helping them. Especially in terms of liberating people from slavery. But also other stuff! She would've travelled all over, but again, mostly the outer rim. Maybe you ran into her.
  • Also war stuff! She fought in a lot of the major engagements, as well as a lot of the less well known ones; possibly working with the Sixth Line.

by Nudimsu
Nudimsu primarily works within Republic space, since he has personal distaste of the Sith Empire. If you're friendly with Durasay, since he primarily goes around with him when he travels, so political types would probably have seen him, if not likely talked to him in some manner.

Either that or probably saw him on Bankor. He stands out, after all.

Other than that, he prefers not to make too many waves as he traverses the galaxy, since the Chiss are allied with the Empire; best not to give people a reason to be suspicious of him.

by Mark Fallenstar
Mark has been all around Republic space, helping with investigations. He could have easily met anyone during that time.

As far as Alderaan natives, anyone with House Thul connections pre-Sith might know him. He has worked for House Antilles for the last 8 years, but most of that time has been spent traveling the Galaxy.

The Jedi took notice of him after he was involved in an incident that ended in 5 dead padawans, 1 padawan leaving, and 2 padawans being rescued from being sold to a Sith (who also died in the conflict). Mark has not been thrilled by this turn of events.

Barris is a former padawan who was a duelist prodigy. After the trauma of the events, she decided to leave the Order. But there are still those in the Order who remember her.

by Delmi Koor
Delmi has a few hooks.

-Has been in Havoc Squad for the past few years. All around the galaxy doing special forces missions during the fighting. Military folks will find Delmi agreeable.

-She's on a bunch of posters all over the place... favorite face of the military.

-Was a bounty-hunter for a while before that of some fame in the outer rim.

-Spent time on Anaxes and Brentaal IV as a child.

by Count Serenno
Unless you've travelled to the Wild Space or have recently been to Serenno, like you have helped it to win its independence from the Sith, you're unlikely to have met the Count for the last ten to fifteen years.

If your adult life and explorations are older than that, you may have met a Jal Shey mentor and his student travelling together from one ancient place to another across the galaxy.

by Zeno Thul
Zeno has not exactly been available since shortly after Nar Shaddaa. If you met him or knew him before then and could reasonably have his comm info, then we may have spoken or met. If you have been to official functions on Alderaan where the spouse of the head of the house was expected to be present you may have met him, more likely just seen him. If you could reasonably been invited to Thul Estates for parties or functions you would be far more likely to have met him there. But for the most part he tends to avoid public life in favor of household duties... like training with the Blackguard and raising his daughters.

Oh... and 8 years ago, if you knew victims of the assault on the Jedi enclave of Dantooine, you probably hate him. He doesn't make a secret of his past.

by Hacha Tsuko
Hacha has a few ways that people would know him:

-First and foremost, he is a member of the Turtle crew, and if the ship is somewhere, he's probably not far away.

-He's a Bankor vet, and there is a decent chance that you might have run into his for tech support, modifications or repairs.

-Are you interested in ships, ship building, design, or vehicle weapon designs? Hacha is considered at the top of his field, if considered unorthodox and a bit flaky on the professionalism.
