“Oh introductions… Jerri Organa… of House Organa, it’s a boring dumb family, probably never heard of it,” he said adjusting his spectacles.

“Oh look at the time,” he said glancing at his cracked and off datapad.

He stammered, “I should go, Master Jedi… strong, stern Captain… question: are you a play by your own rules captain?”

“Just wondering, no reason, forget I asked. But seriously. No... forget it,” he said turning anyway and then back and added, “But seriously.”

Daz had been given the task of mingling with the people and sure he had not explicitly told his Master he had sliced the Panteer databanks to add his name to the suitor roster because it sounded whizz, but here he was. Of course the real funny part was that it was a a lot easier than expected or maybe he was just that good.

And then it happened just like all the other Suitors he was announced:

“His highness, Prince Daz Hoshin of the Independent World, Yah Boi, first of his name, Duke of Ali-Ababwa, Champion of the War of De’ez Nutz, and heir to the throne. We welcome this young Prince and Jedi to Alderaan.”

Daz blinked and then looked at Jameela and said, “Uh… ahem, Princess Jameela, I prince Daz Hoshin of Ya Boi and Jedi padawan of the Order do here pledge my service to you for the duration of my stay as your protector! This is my gift to you!”

It didn't take Niall long to come up with a subject. Since he was a child, he'd loved Alysele Cortess. That love had changed over time, growing, deepening, involving a lot more costumes. He could think of any number of things he wanted to write about her, and most of them were even fit for public consumption outside of Jerri's writing. That was the easy part.

Actually writing... Niall sweat and strained as he considered. He was used to giving clear strong speeches to soldiers. Or, at least, those expecting to hear from soldiers. Metaphors were tricky. But not impossible. As he wrote, Niall found himself writing faster, and his deep frown turned into a thoughtful smile.

And then it came time to perform...

"Love... is a many splendored thing." Niall began. "Love lifts you up where you belong! All you need is love!" Niall smiled his earnest, open smile at the audience. He wasn't used to reading poetry. But, darn it, didn't Captain Alderaan just look adorable up there on stage reading his poetry?

With an enthusiastic gesture, Niall's datapad slipped from his hand. "I'm sorry. One moment." Smiling cheerfully, Niall turned and bent to pick it up.

The crowd was attentive as he turned back, although Niall found himself wondering why so many of them suddenly had their cameras out...

After a pleasant morning in the gardens the subject was of course flowers! Their ephemeral beauty. The warmth of feeling they evoked. The sweet smell and glorious colour. And of course he was going to dedicate his work to Princess Jameela, she was the reason he was here.

It all started so well. Obviously flowers were a good metaphor for life, love, blah blah blah. Good grief it was hard work writing this stuff. Flowers. Flowery. Metaphor. Something something Princess. He scratched his head. Hmm, go with what you know?

Kellen's poem became an excellent example of why Academic discourse is not the subject of bardic or artistic celebration. It would have made an excellent journal article. It had references. It had footnotes. It even had a series of delightful figures (Kellen could sketch rather exquisitely). As a poem though... Well at least the novelty would keep the audience amused. It was difficult to distract them all from reminiscing about the Captain's, er, display anyway.

Then of course one had to deliver the actual poem. It had been a wee while (cough, decade) since the Professor had last been anywhere near an Alderaanian poetry recital. He had, however, spent plenty of time on Coruscant recently, and they were very much into both freestyle jazz and spoken word versions of rap songs...

At the end of the day Kellen could say he was the only being to have ever given a spoken word version of a poem written in the style of an academic report. He even interpretive danced the figures. Occasionally words rhymed. No one was entirely familiar with the type of thing they seeing. Strangest of all? It was not even the worst performance of the day.

"Ah ha! Huttball! It's been so long since I played. Father prevailed upon me that I was causing far too many injuries and I had to agree. Still, the camaraderie, the love between teammates. I have missed this!"

Keyhote stretches his arms slowly as Sando massages oil into the hutt's skin...probably scarring some spectators for life.

"And to be going up against such dishonourable opponents. Well, it is an opportunity to distinguish ourselves! A team of heroes against a team of villains!"

Meanwhile Daz was out getting the most whizz footage of the games with mini camera drones he had constructed for the task.

He was not toing to let his fame get to him, even if he did have designer shades and wearing a Jedi Princess shirt. He was still humble.

Which was absolutelly true they were just five guys and a cat girl, and not even all of them were warriors. They had an archeologist and a Doctor, that is certainly not a bunch of people that sulk in the night and murder people.

Gil stood amongst his team mates and glanced around, so most of them were likely inclinced to the physical side of things, even the Doctor. That meant nothing really, right?

"Are we aiming for a good clean game?" He asked of the others. It was probably a joke.

And he launches himself at the nearest opponent who sidesteps and Keyhote...thoroughly covered in oil...keeps going...and going...and going. Until eventually slamming into the rear wall with a thunderous crash of splintering wood.

Cynella blinked then spun around. This wasn't the infamous House of Assassins and yet here she was, totally caught flat-footed! "Her Majesty and the Duchess were busy reviewing some information," she said, totally true! "And we hoped to not be in their way." She smiled sheepishly and looked to Prince Joran. From out in the water there's a huge spurt like a whale clearing its blow-hole. An observant participant might spot the golden eyes of Keyhote happily wallowing amongst the waves.

For his part Sando had set up a beach chair, a beach umbrella and a dry bar and was reading a book while slurping from a glass with an even smaller umbrella within. His board shorts read 'Into the Beach!' and featured an armoured knight charging a sand castle.

With that it ejected its data probe from its left wrist and inserted it into the computer port. The probe span several times and V1 emitted several blurts of code in binary. Surprisingly quickly a small holo activated showing a Mirialan with Lieutenant's insignia, who practically shouted across the holonet at them.

"V1! You have reached Alderaan. DO NOT INITIATE COMBAT!!! THE WAR THERE IS OVER!!!! Your orders were a mistake."

Riss' smile wavered for just a moment as the word came out of the baron's mouth but it flashed away in an instant. Eyes widening as a sharp single note laugh comes out in the surprise of it all, the baron falling out of the tub. She almost couldn't believe her eyes it went that far at first, her gaze lingering on the scene for a moment. Eyes tracing back first to the hand, then to Joran himself, "I- was not expecting that," she says, there's a very present warmth in her tone. Regarding him in the moment, "Thank you," she adds.

Riss really liked that.

Keyhote comes crashing down into the blood splattered dirt. His vision slowly turning to grey and then black before before it flickers out for good he witnesses Aurilie downing the Black Tooth. His companions would live, all would be well.


Down and down Keyhote plummets leaving behind his ruined body and the responsibilities of the world until finally he floats weightless in the never ending blackness. And for a time he is alone. Then he hears the sound of paws on stone and turns to see a strange creature wearing a rather dapper hat.

"Ser Keyhote, you are slain."
With a wave of its paw a screen flickers to life, its light a brilliantly stark contrast to the inky darkness all around. Upon the screen, as if seen from overhead was the body of the Hutt. His armour lying rent and torn in a dozen places while at least three grievous wounds slowly ooze blood. The Hutt does not draw breath.

Keyhote feels disconnected as he hovers forward to inspect himself.
"Indeed. The Black Tooth was a fell opponent. On another day perhaps I could have slain him, but he got the better of me here."
Frowning
"It...is a young death for one of my kind, but a noble one. I can go now to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed."

The creature nods and the two watch the image in silence for a few long moments before it speaks.
"But were you done?"
The knight blinks.
"Done?"
"Yes, did you accomplish all you set out to do?"
Keyhote cocks his great head slightly
"I...suppose I did not. I feel closer, ever closer to understanding what love is. But I never managed to grasp it fully."
The creature waves a paw and the picture zooms out, now there are warm red links between Keyhote and its companions and as the zoom increases they witness the same bonds between millions and then billions until the whole planet of Alderaan seems awash in love.
"Then your quest continues noble knight. Use this experience, and remember that to love is to bond with another knowing one day that they will be gone, and to do so anyway. Today you fell, but you were loved all the same."
The creature gently touches Keyhote in the chest and he feels his body, no his soul ripple as it begins to shoot up and out of the darkness


And in the dust of Alderaan, Keyhote cracks open one great golden eye as his body takes a single pained breath.
"A fine shot Prince Aurilie...the trophy is yours."
And then it closes, and true unconsciousness takes him.

"Yes, I'm glad you are both as intrigued as I am by all of this!" The Professor seemed very happy. It certainly beat the blank stares of undergraduates who only stopped in to ask if they could get an extra mark on their assignment because they needed it to get into medical school.
