Durasay had asked if she would like to attend the maze, wanting to see it from her recommendation. The Pantoran had his eyes closed, breathing in the scent of the festival, the garden around him.

Just to enjoy some company while he was here...

Verash arrived, she was prompt with a smile and said, “Privateer Mixo, I am… again very happy with your service and prompt delivery. I apologize for any issues you may have incurred along the way. This is why I try untangle any matters of business and pleasure.”

"It was no difficulty. The pilots were rather reasonable when we didn't blow them into the voud and came to an agreement. Believe me, I wasn't exactly thrilled about risking shootint at ADF craft, even if they might have been on the take."

He smiled, bowing his head somewhat. "Besides, that's half the fun in being a privateer, as it were. Never know what any job may bring."

“Professional and pragmatic, you have an endless set of qualities. They were thugs working for Ghoun Rist most likely or as you said on the take. He was not always wise with his decisions of investment,” she said warmly as they walked the maze.

“Thankfully I have a better eye for talent.”

Durasay looked almost sheepish at the compliment, "Thank you, Verash. I'm just one that likes to see jobs through, with as minimal cost to resources as possible." He stayed by her side as they walked. "It always reflects well on the client, as well. A certain level of respect that gets spread with reputation."

"Well I will be sure to speak well of your reputation perhaps it will make your name back home become one to be honored," she said warmly.

"My concern was making sure you were satisfied with our work, and that you received the piece in prime condition. Everything else was just gravy." He found himself enjoying the warmth in her tone, the company within the maze.

"I don't if Privateering brings much honor to the name, but... it does add color and details. A sense of adventure that simply doesn't fade."

"Well I am curious what are your passions, Privateer Mixo? What drives you?" she asked.

He paused. It had been a long time since someone asked him that. Pondering, the Pantoran struggled for a moment to find the words.

"I... it's silly. I seek one adventure to the next. The greatest risk brings the greatest reward. Hell..." a hand brushed through his hair, nervousness taking hold for a bit. "And even then, it ends up doing the right thing, to leave someone better off than they started, even if its a small thing. I've taken no small amount of danger because it was the just thing to do."

Shaking his head, he chuckled. "All the while wishing I could make it so no one had to have struggles."

A strong will to harness order and bring Justice to all.

“That’s a strong moral bent, I guess my major passion is collecting antiquities. It wasn’t all I wanted to do, I wanted to travel when I was younger. Fix the galaxy, be someone that changed the world and then life happened and soon it was just my business, my ex-husband… the demands of nobility. All the little things became my world,” she admitted.

“At least you still seem to be living your truth.”

How true is it, though...

His lips pursed to a hard line. "I don't know about that. In my term as Senator, I spent more time in committee hearings. I ferried myself between Pantora and Coruscant. How much good was I doing with that?" He shrugged. "I understand how what we do ends up consuming who we are. Forgetting what truth we held onto in the beginning." Durasay looked away for a moment, down another hedge path.

"Now it feels like I'm clawing back what there was jn the beginning. Wondering if I wasted time, and is there enough left for things that matter."

"You carry some heavy demons," she said curiously.

"I don't know if they are demons. But there is... conflict. Between doing what I know is right, and what must be done." His voice did soften somewhat, turning introspective.

"And if there is anything left for me to be able to find what I want for myself."

"That sounds truly dire, why do you feel this way?" she asked taken aback by his words.

"Maybe I'm cynical. Maybe seeing the festival, and how..." he shook his head. "I suppose it's insecurity, no, that's not right." Durasay looked up at the stars, chewing on his lip for a moment.

"For all I've done, have I missed out on the chance for family? I'm not so old yet... it feels like it sometimes."

“You regret a path not taken? Or is this a more general existential ennui?” she asked.

"I think more the former. Did I make the right choices along the way." He sighed, then smiled, looking to Verash.

"I'm sorry. I'm bringing down a lovely evening with even more lovely company."

“You are not bothering me; I am rather intrigued by this line of conversation. Do you regret the choices you have made or didn’t make? I know I have many that I look back on and wonder why,” she admitted.

"No. I don't regret the choices I made. I think more... longing for a life that never happened. If I went back and did it all again, I think my choices would be the same..." he watched her with warm regard, though he felt the phantom touch of fingers through his hair, nails against his scalp.

A dream on a moon that may not have been.

"But perhaps I would have carved out more time for myself, than burying myself in my work. Slowed down, seen more. But like you, I think it is more a question of the why."

“You sound like your life is over, you can’t be older than me, and I hardly see my life as done. You have plenty of life to live, and you can start right now, do what you feel is best to start your new future? Let’s put our regrets aside and just enjoy the now,” she said sweetly taking his hand.
