She looked at Layne, "I'm guessin' your Jedi friends would probably also like to try and communicate with them if it were possible. Sounds good to me... we just need to make sure we have all our ducks in a row. Better to be prepared for when things go bad than just let them happen."

"Also, I don't feel any effect from the sonic emitters, but are there any potential long term effects that might come up? Also, are there any other species that this sound range will affect?" he asks.

"Afraid you'll have to pay out of pocket for expensive sonic damage treatment, Zeno? I thought being a Duke paid well enough you don't need to worry about that."

As she quipped; or was it goaded?; Layne was going over her equipment to see if there'd been any damage.

"Probably want to keep other insectoid species out of range. I'll have to work on it with them. No effect on anyone else," Ashlin finally sighed. She ran a hand down her face. "I guess it's interesting to know it'll have that effect in the middle of a hive... And it's good to know it works... Immediate danger is handled, but still..."

"With only one emitter I suppose this was the most reasonable approach."

She looked up. "Um, as far as intelligence goes, concealment and remote activation would help if it has to be used this way again. That's an easy addition."
