Orkin (Wo)Men (D2 ME)

The team rode a small transport provided by House Thul towards their insertion point at high speed.

Delmi hung on to the handles near the open side of the transport with the wind rushing past her smooth carapace.

“Almost there everyone. Stick together. Hit ‘em hard. We ain’t getting beat by bugs today.”

OOC: Here we go everyone. DD says he’ll set up the task for us in a bit.

Zeno seemed much less calm and more excited than he had during social engagements. He had a guard shoto in one hand and a smaller curved one in the other. There was a blaster rifle slung over his back, though he didn't expect to need it.

Riding in a Thul transport, with Zeno right there. This was definitely not how she had imagined things would progress during her stay on Alderaan. But the Force worked in mysterious ways. She wore her full battle armor; everything about its design and finish screaming that it was of exquisite and expensive make. The same applied to the two lightsabers at her side. Assuming Zeno ever paid attention to them back in the day, he'd likely note she had done *extensive* work on them. Especially the darksaber. There was also that ancient sword hilt she still carried with her... still seeped in the Dark Side, a bit of an oddity especially given what she'd said about that side of the Force.

She had been mostly... meditating... during the flight, until Delmi spoke up.

"So... we're not trying to talk to them first?"

With the wind rushing past and her meditative demeanor, it was hard to tell if she was serious.

Her padawan, Tyche, was also there, looking generally pissed off and ready to do violence. She wore Layne's old armored robes, though she'd changed the color to gray. And she wore a relatively simple lightsaber by her side.

Delmi replied back through her mask, “Our intel suggests that this hive is particularly aggressive. If they approach with the intent to communicate we will engage in what talks we can… but from what I have seen we shouldn’t expect them to get along.”

She replied with a strong tone of military professionalism not usually visible in Delmi outside this type of scenario.

“We’re here to push them away from House Syrush’s holdings with as little collateral damage as we can possibly manage. If they will leave on their own accord, great. Azura, Layne, Zeno… you three are up front. We’ll cover you and be your eyes. Follow my commands and we’ll get out of here in one piece.”

She concluded, “Our final objective is to enable the installation of a preventive machine crafted by Ashlin Organa that should keep the bugs away. We gotta make room and give time for that to happen.”

He had taken notice of Layne's equipment but didn't seem to actually care. Zeno listened, but didn't say anything. Just nodded and continued waiting.

She nodded and went back to her meditation as they crossed the final distance.

(Taking the time to commit Force Dice to Enhance and Sense, I guess; if I may)

Once the team is ready they can roll out, players need five successful rolls out of seven and they get two chances to have a contingency, and a sacrifice the first three rolls are at Average the remaining rolls are at Hard.

Each player must roll once before repeat rolls can be made and weapon qualities do not count. Players can choose any skill they feel will help them get inside, have fun and be creative.

If they succeed then they infiltrate the Hive with minimal fuss.

Contingency: Player had a backup plan all along and can succeed but the difficulty for the next roll is increased by 1.

Sacrifice: Player is injured but gets the job done, suffer a Critical Injury and suffer 4 wounds that cannot be reduced. Increase the difficulty of the next check by 1.

They get 1 Contingency and 1 Sacrifice.

OOC: Flipping Destiny for the first five rolls, upgrade the difficulty by 1.

Jocasta felt slightly out of place. First, she was aboard a Thul transport... she did not foresee that coming when she had set out to the Festival. Second, while she was familiar with military deployments and had served with all types, these were heavy hitters.

To calm her nerves, she checked her ruck and gear. Then she did what she was trained to do and starting speaking to each of the combatants, sizing up their abilities, providing what intel she could from her previous killik extermination missions, trying to increase their chances of success..

As the transport touched down, Jocasta was the first out, leading the way towards the hive.

As soon as Azura had landed the craft Delmi began scouting their prepared course of entry. She kept an eye out for sentries or any obstacles and deftly led the group through the small ravine the readouts had shown them to be there.

The path Delmi had chosen was well hidden but also had some difficult footing at times. The Duke demonstrated the safe places to step when it became an issue, having an uncanny knack for avoiding treacherous, natural hazards.

Azura had taken the role of pilot for this merry crew. It worked out wonderfully - it kept her away from Sith (bleh) and Jedi (bleh), and let her listen without interacting. Which is why she smirked when the Jedi talked about peace.

Told ya! She mentally told Delmi, not that she could read thoughts. Maybe.

Azuras piloting skills were good though, and she landed them in a very advantagous spot, before picking up her pipe-shaped weapon and slinging it over onto her back and slipping out after the others

Layne was a simple sort of Jedi. Most of her problems were solved through the application of brute force. When obstacles found their way onto their path, she was there with a quick slash or two from her lightsaber. For this sort of simple work she preferred the use of her secondary one; the one with the blue-colored blade. It made short work of any boulders or foliage.

The interior had a strange sterile smell to it as the group pierced their way inside. The Hive had not yet reacted to them but they had made their way into the under tunnels. It looks like this hive may have been ancient tunnels of some lost settlement or House that the killiks had built over with their resin covering much of the walls.

OOC: Going to need a Hard Perception (Cunning) or Survival (Cunning) check to get to a good spot to do what they came to do.

Zeno leaves the tracking and all that to someone more knowledgeable. But he does reach out with the force to sense creatures in the area so they didn't accidentally walk around a corner into a mass of bugs.

Jocasta lifts her hand to signal the rest to hold. She listens carefully for the tell-tale sound of chitin covered killik feet echoing through the tunnels. After a moment, she waved her hand towards one of the many tunnels and slowly made her way in.

The tunnels wind and wend before they find what looks like the heart of the next despite a few close calls but here they find dozens of sentient joiners tending to the killik eggs, these tenders were of varying species but mostly human.

"Well, this is a bit of a problem," she whispered.

It was one thing to go take out a bunch of aggressive bugs; quite another to take out a bunch of brainwashed republic citizens along with them. At least, she assumed they were brainwashed.
