Career Day [D7MM]

[Niall Organa]

Dressed in his usual formal uniform, cape included, Niall waited at the entrance to the museum, hands linked behind his back, his expression interested. It had been quite a while since he'd been there, but it always fascinated him. As a child of Alderaan, how could it not?

He checked his chrono; looked like it was about time for meeting his old... semi-friend. Friendly acquaintance. Whatever.

[Dapper Dog]

Vaki had spent the intervening days well learning and trying to do what he could to prove he was serious about the chance given to him. It was not easy, but he was earnest and hard working. He had a few run-ins with the racist brat, but he had handled himself well enough and seemed excited to see this old friend if only to learn more about being an Organa.

[Kellen Rist]

"Well well well. If it isn't Captain Alderaan, in the flesh." Kellen flashed a grin at him. "You know the museum is going to want a photo shoot Niall."

Walking closer Kellen offered a hand. "It's good to see you. Time has been kind." He nodded to the young twi'lek. "Hello there."

[Niall Organa]

Niall grinned, shaking the man's hand. "As long as they don't expect me to take a seat behind a glass wall. The Captain Alderaan exhibit. How about that?"

He nodded at Vaki. "Vaki, this is Professor Kellen Rist, an old friend of mine." He turned back to Kellen. "Vaki has an interest in education, but he isn't quite sure what sort."

[Dapper Dog]

Vaki waved and said, "Hey professor, so you teach stuff?"

[Kellen Rist]

"I wouldn't say that too loudly Niall. If the board thinks it will bring in the credits you might start getting requests." He winked.

Vaki waved and said, "Hey professor, so you teach stuff?"

"Nice to meet you Vaki. I try not to if I can help it, but yes, I do indeed teach stuff." He offered his hand with a grin. "What you interested in? That's as good a place to start as any."

[Dapper Dog]

"I never been to uh a school, so I don't know," he replied.

[Kellen Rist]

Kellen nodded. "I see, so then I think you might want an access program. That will give you the opportunity to get the essential qualifications and try out lots of different disciplines." He looked at Niall. "There are lots of good options for students from all sorts of backgrounds and education levels. With an endorsement from the Republic's most popular, ah, face, it shouldn't be difficult to get a place."

He gestured to the museum exhibits. "Shall we take a look around?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Yeah, so what did you do to learn what you do?" he asked.

[Kellen Rist]

As they walked through the museum he gave a bit of his own story to Vaki. "Well, I was fortunate to be born into the upper ranks of House Rist. I attended the House Rist School for Gifted Children, which gave a rather complete physical and mental education." Of course to the other families of Alderaan it was known as 'Assassin school'.

[Dapper Dog]

"You learned how to kill people?" he responded with confusion.

[Kellen Rist]

The Professor chuckled. "Niall here learned to kill people when he joined the Republic armed forces. I learned all sorts of things. The Sciences. Languages. Mathematics. Self defense. History. Politics. Target shooting. I was rather good at cricket in my day."

[Dapper Dog]

"What's a cricket?" the twi'lek male said even more confused.

[Kellen Rist]

"Oh its a wonderful team sport. You should try it some time. I'm sure we could get tickets for one of the league matches. I think House Organa are in second place at the moment. Panteer has a rather fierce batting average for a change." He didn't realise it but he might as well have been speaking another language as he explained the game to the confused twi'lek.

[Dapper Dog]

"So like huttball?" he responded.

[Kellen Rist]

Kellen grinned. "Well they are both team games that require a lot of reliance on your team mates. Fewer injuries, deaths, or explosions in cricket though."

[Dapper Dog]

"Whizz, so I guess you go to school for awhile and you became a professor? How did you know that is what you wanted to do, forever?"

[Kellen Rist]

"Lots of schooling, yes. A very good question Vaki. I think it is the mystery behind every artifact. Who made it and why? What were they thinking? In some cases: what does it do?" He pointed at some of the exhibits.

"Sometimes you can learn a lot about a people and culture from what they left behind. There are always new things to learn and discover, or rediscover."
