Fortunately she did! Picked it up... oh... quite a while ago. Back on Bankor maybe. Well, technology didn't advance *that* much these days anymore, did it? Surely it was still an up-to-date model and everything.

She handed it over.

[Dapper Dog]

She uploaded the data and handed it back, "Anything else?"

Please nothing else.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Uhm..." she looked over the data and gave the question some actual thought.

"...how are you doing here?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Well, the actual work is great, Professor Kellen Rist is great to work for. Even Doctor Boxy, when he does not eat my lunch. I am... doing great," she offered.

"Great."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Ris--" she stopped herself midway through the second 'great'.

"uhm... do you want to talk about it padawan?"

[Dapper Dog]

"I... I am just a historian, I am not used to buildings explode, or people murdering each other or dead bodies... or whatever you are into. I just collect materials, file stuff, and write about history. I don't do... whatever insanity you other Jedi are doing," she finally said exasperated.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Okay," she held up a hand, "This is the first time I'm hearing about exploding buildings or dead bodies. I mean, other than the dead bodies from the mur--"

She stopped herself again. "Okay that's not the point," then cleared her throat.

"We all do what we must for the sake of peace. Even... well, even if it doesn't always seem li... again, the point is that..."

Yeah, she had nothing.

[Dapper Dog]

"It's fine, I'll have plenty to meditate about," she said gathering her composure.

[Layne Hoshin]

"The Force does not always give us the peace and quiet we want," she said after a moment, "but whatever it gives you, trust that you are where you are needed... now... what was this about explosions?"

[Dapper Dog]

The padawan said, “I was working with Jedi Zyn and one thing led to another and the thing got stolen, and then we traced it back to the thief’s place and then it exploded and we found a body and thought it was him… but nope it was not but it was charred… it smelled awful and she didn’t seem all that surprised and I am like… but… but dead body?”

“Then you show up with stuff about a murder and House Rist and crazy stuff.”

[Layne Hoshin]

"...I take it your master isn't the active excursion type, then." She said after a moment of having taken in what had been said.

"I mean, it's not my case or anything but if you need my help with it or anything else... well. I'm... well you know. Good at certain stuff. Also I'm guessing Baesal wasn't surprised because explosions do tend to cha... you know what never mind that."

Maybe at this point she was doing it a little bit on purpose. She didn't know the padawan's circumstances and reasons for being assigned here, but while a Jedi was not supposed to crave excitement and adventure, some of them could probably stand to get a little of those things.

[Dapper Dog]

"By the Force, no, I had heard that some Jedi Knights lead... adventurous lives but this is... my word. How do you sleep at night?" she finally retorted.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Quite comfortably," she said, "all the exercise really takes it out of me."

[Dapper Dog]

"Right."

[Layne Hoshin]

"I could run you through a personalized exercise routine if you want to be better prepared for adventure in the future. No explosions involved."

[Dapper Dog]

"I don't want adventure, I just want to do my work," she said calmly.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Well, I'm not your master Padawan, I can't tell you what to do. But *everyone* could use a little excercise from time to time. Even bookworms."

[Dapper Dog]

The Padawan nodded and said, "I will get more exercise, Jedi Hoshin."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Well..." for some reason Layne felt like the padawan was trying to get rid of her as politely but quickly as possible, "...alright then. Thank you for your help again, let me know if you need any in return at any point. I'll leave you to your... non-explosive work."

[Dapper Dog]

Layne felt the padawan's relief.
