Well, if she was going to find out who really killed the person she's been accused of killing, she would *have* to start with some basic research, right? In the first place, who the hell was this sister to begin with? She was pretty sure, by now, that she had at least been real... or the Duchess wouldn't have been quite so genuinely angry... but Layne couldn't investigate things if she didn't have any leads whatsoever. She was going to meet up with Captain Alderaan later, see if maybe he could get her the security tapes from back when she killed Galen Rist. See if there was anything *else* on there that had been missed. But that wouldn't be enough of a lead to go on by itself, right?

So, here she was. At the museum. Supposedly, there was a padawan working here who was rather good at history and scholarly stuff. Layne didn't know if something that happened only 8 years ago really qualified as 'history', but she figured that at the very least, this padawan was likely to be better at going through the records to find out anything useful. Besides, might as well say hello... and take in some culture. Right?

Finding the padawan was not hard and seeing another Jedi put the young woman on edge.

Were more explosions inbound?

"You must be Padawan Kumos," she said, giving the woman her best smile as she noticed her being on edge. Of course, this was Layne we were talking about, smiling was not part of her specific set of skills.

"Jedi Knight Layne Hoshin," she offered, "...uhm... I was hoping you could help me with something. And I'm afraid it doesn't..." she gave a look around, "...*quite* fit into your expertise, but I thought you might still be able to assist."

"Well, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about House Rist. I'm sure you're familiar with them. Maybe even heard about my uh... little issue with them. I'm especially keen on finding out everything that might be available on a sister of the Duchess, a Vidara Rist. And as much about the house's activities and dealings around, 7 or 8 years ago. I understand that most of that probably isn't publically available, and like I said, maybe not exactly inside your realm of expertise. If there's nothing you can find for me on that, I'd also be interested in learning more about the traditions and rules surrounding vendetta, and its history."

Yil just looked at her and envisioned her own death by Rist assassins, or explosions… or criminals. She had been here for months and just had ordinary work every day and in two days completely insane situations were being thrown at her by Jedi.

She blinked and said, “I can try and access some public records.”

Then, as if sensing there was more to the blink than had been uttered, she added a few more words. "Don't worry, I convinced the Duchess to only focus on me."

A pause.

"...I think."

"Duchess Rist, of course," she said, suddenly wondering if there was more than one Duchess Rist. "Had a little chat with her before coming here today. I thought she might've been playing a political game, but she's absolutely convinced I killed her sister. Which I didn't. I can't say it wouldn't sound reasonable to me too if I were in her shoes, as an initial reaction...but I find it hard to understand how she could have kept this with her for eight years, never gathering any actual evidence supporting or contradicting her gut feeling. Maybe she's been manipulated into avoiding such questions by the real killer?"

Layne was spitballing as much as explaining.

“Okay Vidara Rist, Vidara Rist… alright looks like I have here a birth announcement, some public details and a funeral announcement.”

The date on the funeral is not long after Layne was here in her Sith capacity. Looks like she is buried on Rist grounds, that’s pretty normal. Loos like it was a joint affair for a man named Galen Rist as well, I am not asking questions on that.”

“I have a picture here, if that is helpful.” The picture shows the three of them under a tree the man in the middle the two women to the side, and it seems to come from a Rist publication and seems a focus on Vidara Rist as a rising star in the House of Rist.

"I am not sure where we would start, I don't have a name only a picture, I can try and do a search see if there are any matches, probably take a while... if it works at all," she said honestly.
