Alderaan - Love and Intrigue

Durasay adjusted the straps of his armor as he sat it the co-pilot's chair of the Turtle. Stretching his neck one way, then the other, he then rolled his shoulders.

"So. Just nice and easy. Just... be ready. You all already know this is a hot commodity. But we've been here before." He spoke over the ship's comm, an easy smile on his face, before looking to Nudimsu.

"You mean our ship or the cargo?" Hacha asks blithely, checking the scanners again. "Not that it matters. But the question is, how much do we run and how much do we fight?"

Nudimsu nodded his head and started to gear up, staring his red eyes back at him. "I do not like how many coincidences have occurred with this task, Durasay." He grabbed his pistol and checked the energy levels before looking at him.

"I do not like it one bit."

"There's no such thing as coincidence, Nudimsu. It's the will of the Force." He shrugged, beginning to adjust switches on the console. "Simple as that."

Garth adjusted his seat at the auto blaster, whoever last operated this liked to sit a little closer than he did. "Force an' simple in th' same sentence Senator? Ah think ye'r the first person ah've heard think that way."

He looked at the help they had brought along and stared. His brain was trying to catch up with the accent he was speaking with. It was clearly Basic, but at the same time, it was not. He nodded when he grasped it and moved on.

"Then let's all hope this fatalistic power source isn't leading us to a trap."

In between slurps of a mug of kaff almost as big as his head, Garth agreed with Nudimsu. "Least if we suspect a trap, we c'n be a mite prepared fer it."

"I was given no reason to believe it was a trap or a double cross from our employer." His hands moved over the console, finishing up checks. "We're either going to be intercepted en route or on our way back, from what she guessed about her rival in this deal." His eyes focused out on the horizon, breathing jn deeply while feeling the universe around him, looking for any glimpse into the future.

"That's the trick though. If they were bad at hiding who they would send into a death trap no one would work for them." Hacha is seated at the rear gunner chair.

"Of course, we wouldn't be good at our jobs if we got derailed just by being sent into a trap"

"It's not our employer I am concerned with; I trust your judgement on her completely." He said plainly, a rather bold statement for a Chiss. He wouldn't be here if he didn't trust him. "I do not trust the rest of the parties involved, is all. There's always games being played here; I'd rather not be used as a sacrificial piece."

Listening to Hacha, he nodded. "At least we are in a position of advantage in this ship, if they choose to come at us this way."

"Long as we don' get derailed too hard, ah got me a date t'night." Garth jokes as he looks over the advanced targeting capabilities Hacha had installed on the Turtle and let out a low whistle.

"Really souped 'er up with all the optional extras ah see, no expenses spared."

"Ha! A man of discerning tastes!" Hacha preens. "I mean, if I was going to build an experimental weapon, I was kriffing sure that you were going to be able to hit with it! That's the splashiest improvement, but I've been working on her for a while. You'll see when we go into evasive maneuvers, but she's a nimble as a patrol boat, but with better speed and armor"

"Don' brag too much Hacha, ye'll make me wanna swap seats wi' Nudimsu, an' ah hear too much desire's a bad thing for us Sensitives." Garth teases the Duros gently.

"But ah 'ppreciate the time an' effort. Ah'm still tryna boost the hyperdrive on mah little dinghy."

He paused for a long moment and listening to Garth speak, still trying to adapt to the way he talked. Thankfully many of the words were still Basic in some regard. "If things go smoothly, I would let you fly it on the way back, so long as you are careful with my settings and not scratch this ship" He looked at him. "Well, with your share of the credits, it would not hurt to speak to Hacha about helping you with that. Assuming you finished with that other project, then, Hacha?" He sat back down in his pilot chair and looked at a few of the status screens on the ship.

"Yeahhhhh hyperdrive." Hacha winces. "That one still has some work to do. Too much credit had to go to other places"

To his credit, Hacha winces again at the next comment.

"Yeah about that. Stage one is done. Completely tied off there. Stage two will take longer than we will be on planet"

"Desire only is a bad thing if you let yourself be ruled by your emotions, instead of controlling your own destiny." The Pantoran replied, still focusing on the vision. "Being the master of your own fate, the Force will free you."

"Thanks fer th' offer Cap'n," Garth replied to Nudimsu, "we'll have t' see how things develop but ah 'ppreciate the faith."

"Tha's what ah've been tryin' t' discuss with the Jedi ah know, repressin' them desires has t' be at least as harmful as indulging 'em from time to time."

He looked at Garth for a few moments and nodded. "I know of your work on Bankor enough that you can at least handle this ship. Hopefully there will not be a need for you to have to fly her in a dangerous situation."

He looked at them discussing the Jedi matters, he shrugged. "Whatever prevents you Force users from going off the handle with your feelings. Feelings should never get in the way of one's duty."

He thinks for a moment. "I assumed as much; the first stage was a much larger priority, and we have other matters on the planet of far greater concern." Come to think of it, it was rather surprising that a Jedi would just allow them to steal something like a speeder and bring it with them.

Just another mystery to that woman.
