Jocasta wasn't typically a patron of the arts, but the Festival, or possibly specific events, had put her into a romantic mood. She decided to attend this year's rendition of The Queen and the Soldier. She let herself relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Festival.

Jerri hated crowds, but a play could be perfect inspiration for the book.

Layne and her padawan were walking the crowd. Plays were not really an interest of either of them, but they had time to kill, nowhere else to be, and due to their involvement with chasing down leads on the Star Cabal and their plots, possessive of a general sense of unease about the potential of further disruptions and violence taking place. It was the latter that had Layne keep an eye out; anything that drew a crowd could be a target, after all.

But also, maybe it wasn't a terrible thing to just watch a play from time to time.

Even if she didn't really get what the appeal was.

Omandri loved a good play, it had been ages since he had seen the Queen and the Soldier and figured now was as good as another time to give himself a refresher on it.

The player began the first act where the Queen disguised herself as a lowly soldier to escape the caste and was spending the day learning the ropes form a young handsome soldier and seeing how the other half of her kingdom lived. It is pretty comedic but also poignant in pointing out how the common folk suffer when the nobility become indifferent.

The crowd cheers when the soldier proves his heroic mettle alongside the disguised queen.

A young man tries to shove past her and said, "Please move, sir, I can't see the stage. I need to see this, I'm a creator!"

"Ahh Lt. Teraan wasn't it?" Came a voice from behind her as Omandri moved closer to the stage to watch the play "You didn't really strike me as a lover of the arts, but I guess people can be more than they first appear." He said with an easy smile as he entered a conversational distance from her.

Turning around she responds, "I wouldn't categorize myself as a lover of the arts, but I can enjoy a good performance and atmosphere. Unless House Rist doesn't approve of the play and you're here to shut it down?" She asks flippantly.

He chuckles a little at her reply "Wow you really don't like me all based off a name I didn't even get to choose." He shook his head with an amused expression.

"No I in fact was just here to enjoy the play myself. It's a popular one but one I haven't had the chance to enjoy in quite some time." He said his voice and expression still pleasant

"Don't be so hard on yourself, it's not just because of your name. The first time we met you tried to shut me up. I take personal offense when other's try to control what I say or think. Plus, I've read some of your posts on the holonet, trying to gaslight people into blaming House Panteer for the problems of Alderaan while defending a seditionist."

"On the contrary I never once tried to 'shut you up' as you say, merely pointed out an inaccuracy in your accusation. If someone were blaming your family for something they didn't do I'm sure you'd have reacted similarly." He replied calmly "and as for the message boards I don't believe I was trying to gaslight anyone I was merely giving a break down of the situation as I saw it. I don't defend or condone any sedition and even helped protect the prince from an out of hand protest only a couple of days ago. House Ulgo may be an old ally of House Rist but that doesn't mean I don't think their poodoo doesn't stink."

He grinned a little at her "Could you be the faceless user that argued with me in the comments Lt. Teraan?"

"You seemed a lot more concerned about me expressing my concerns about House Ulgo's allegiances than the one offhand remark I made about House Rist's vocation.

And I believe in those online comments you mentioned, you were saying that it was the closeness between House Thul and Panteer was the real problem and the broken engagement just kicked things off, despite House Thul offering aide to House Panteer after House Ulgo's threats.

You also said that we need to respect the Republic hero... you know, the same one that threatened war with your Queen. Sounds a lot like the same propaganda the separatists have been peddling."

OOC: going to ignore the meta-knowledge assumption ;-)

"I only became involved with that conversation when you blamed House Rist for the assassination. I will say you have a talent for twisting words to fit your narrative."

"As for the comments I posted online I mentioned I was no expert on the situation as well but yes considering the distrust around House Thul I believe that for the people the closeness is seen as an issue. I could be wrong and as far as the Duke is concerned he was greatly slighted as far as noble affairs go. Do I think war is the answer? No of course not, I've seen my fill of it but he was wronged and I don't think it's wrong to point that out. I do take issue with calling someone a traitor who has repeatedly put their life on the line to defend the planet. Disagree with him sure I do as well but name calling and spreading disrespect doesn't seem to be the best way to handle it."

Throughout he kept a composed tone and cordial attitude.

"I don't have to twist any words, the facts speak for themselves. I was having a private conversation after I was approached by Senator Ulgo. I did mention the likelihood that House Rist assassinated the protestor Tuvi, because they are the ones who generally assassinate people on Alderaan. You imposed yourself on that conversation to defend the honor of House Rist while claiming disdain for what they do, nice oxymoronic stance there. Then, you insisted that I stop speaking about politics as though I wasn't allowed, despite the fact you both approached me.

And I will absolutely call a man who threatens to bring an entire planet to war because he doesn't get what he wants a traitor. He lost the right to be called a war hero the moment he threatened his sovereign. He no longer deserves my respect, nor does anyone who would sweep such an egregious crime under the rug as though it never happened because a noble h was slighted. The disregard for the fallout the people would suffer disgusts me.

Perhaps you should spend less time trying to defend House Ulgo or House Rist and pay more attention to the play. Perhaps you could learn something from it."

Finishing what she has to say, Jocasta walks off into the crowd to find another vantage point to watch the play from.

Interjecting at appropriate times he replied "as I said then and as I just said I was not defending Rist as assassins but merely pointing out they didn't do this particular one. House Rist is hardly the only one that deals in assassinations and that's not even talking about third parties not related to a house. I can disagree with what they do and still recognize when they didn't do something. Also I just said that at the beach wasn't the proper time and place, which the Prince also said a short time later. I wasn't trying to silence you just trying to not kill the mood of fun on the beach."

"As for the rest of the Ulgo stuff I already agreed he was in the wrong for threatening war but if it was such an egregious crime why has the crown not condemned it as such? You seem quick to judge people and slow to see things from any view point but your own."

As he sees she is not interested in continuing he sighs a little "maybe if for a second you would look past your preconceived notions of people you would see we agree about more than we disagree." He said a little sadly but made no move to follow her as she departed.

"Sir?" She was a *little* annoyed at that. Did she *look* like a sir?

The answer was no, of course.

She turned around, to look at the man trying to shove past her.

“So rude, look sir… or boy or whatever, move aside so I can get a better view. Here is ten creds to go fly a hydro-kite,” the young man offered.

“I hate crowds.”

Overhead they can hear a shuttle pass, a common occurrence on its way to the palace.
