[Day 8 EE] No Time for Rest (Open)

Posted: Sun Aug 08, 2021 5:25 pm
by Omandri Rist
The battle was over for some but Omandri had a different fight to contend with. There were many wounded to varying degrees. Lighter injuries, cuts, concussions, the like were shuffled off to make room for Blaster Wounds, stab Wounds, near fatal injuries.

The castle had medical facilities and all beds were full as well some rooms requisitioned for triage. Omandri rushed around his own Wounds hastily bandaged and still a slight limp to his step as he moved around.

He chewed a mixture of herbs he had picked up from the Felucians that facilitated cerebral blood flow and mental acuity helping him stay up but also assisting in quick diagnosis and treatment.

Layne, Tyche, Prince Joran, and presumably a variety of others, were brought to wherever proper medicine and triage could be performed. The palace was perhaps not the best site for it; but it was a big place, big enough that it probably needed is own dedicated medpost or even small hospital. Besides, coup attempts had probably happened before, so hopefully some smart architect/palatial planner had incorporated it into renovation plans.

Layne, for the moment, was out of it; a big hole in her chest indicating where a large sword had passed through. She *should* be dead; but somehow she was hanging on to life, impossible as it might seem.

Tyche was also still unconscious.

[Tyche is at negative 7 wounds I think, with an easy crit (I think). Layne has only a few sustained wounds, but the *worst* crit]

"Doctor Rist, I'm here to assist you."

Kat's usual pristine and clean clothes were dirtied today, and her sleeves had been rolled up to the elbow to allow for easier work.

--------

OOC: Omandri can get a Boost die to rolls from Kat's assistance.

Jameela arrived with a more healed Unther at her side and house guards. She said, "How can I help?"

OOC: Jameela will assist with her Intellect 4 and no Medicine.

Jocasta stayed by Joran's side. She had managed to come out unscathed somehow, but those around her had suffered dearly. She was as surprised by her own condition as she was by the familiar face who came up to treat Joran.

"Omandri, I didn't realize you were a doctor." She watches as he tends to Joran's wounds. "I owe you a thanks... and an apology. You fought well in there, especially for a doctor. " She finished with a quizzical look.

Galen was helping sort through the wounded, directing them as Omandri had showed him and tending to those who only needed minimal care.

"Here, I can clean and bandage those scrapes."

He spared Kat a small smile and nod as she was there to help but a focus entered his eyes as he turned his attention to the jedi first there was no reason for her to still be here but by some stroke of luck or fate here she was. The hole had been covered by emergency personnel when they picked her up.

He looked under the patch and grimaced but continued to work packing the wound and getting synthflesh to cover it. Having Kat hold things open and hand him tools while he worked "I don't know what stroke of luck she had but the sword missed any major organs and main arteries. She might actually pull through." He said after working on her. Sighing he put the tools in a disinfectant tray "all we can do is wait now but she should regain consciousness soon enough if it worked." He said giving her a stim to help with more mundane Wounds she had.

He turned to the padawan and stimed her first and began applying ointments to the Blaster burns and covering them with synthflesh to facilitate healing. This was an easier procedure by far and the work calmed the doctor as he worked "She was a brave one for sure." He said as they finished bandaging her.

"The Force was with them, and all of us," she said with some relief, but likewise was very focused herself in helping Omandri with his tasks. Having a helping hand who knew their way around an emergency triage was often a blessing for doctors and medics as she knew.

Her own training and instincts had kept her from sustaining any notable injuries herself, despite the assassins' best attempts.

Omandri finished the two critical patients and bowed briefly to Jameela wincing only slightly "Thank you Princess. Help tend to the more lightly wounded with Galen that would be helpful. Knight Ulgo and I should be able to handle more serious cases and we don't need people getting infections because they left a dirty cut untreated." He said confidently and perhaps more commanding than proper considering relative stations but he was worried about bigger things.

He nodded to Jocasta as he went to check on Joran he was focused on his task and his tone indicated that "I've lived a life, we can talk about it later if you're interested." He said as he examined the prince's Wounds "I also owe you an apology, but again we can deal with that after people are taken care of."

Riss wasn't a doctor, sure she'd patched a few minor boo-boos but it was never anything like this. Still, despite how drained she was from the days events it was easier for her to keep moving. So, she played her little part, and rushed over toward Omandri's side without a word and left a water bottle. All before rushing off before she could disturb him and grabbing a towel here, a box of supplies there, she kept herself as busy and helpful as possible without getting in the way of those doing the real work.

Focused as he was he still noticed Riss running around and helping. At one point when she dropped off supplies he would touch her hand and give her a soft smile before returning to attending to the Prince.

by Kellen Rist
Kellen was quite happily helping out changing bandages and doing the grunt work. He had the wrong qualifications for much more, but could do first aid well enough for field trips.

It was very satisfying to see his cousin doing what he was born to do. One expert appreciating another at work. He checked on Jamerla and Galen to make sure they were okay, and looked for Aurilie too. Kat received a warm greeting too.

Cynella, still in her totally-appropriate battle regalia (a ballgown!), approached Kat. "Hey I think I need a little bit for that stab wound." She sighed. "I don't suppose you know how to get blood out of a dress. Or stitch up the wounds."

She glanced around at the staff and then sighed. "But that's not the real reason I came to you. I was wondering... did it feel different when you were fighting the Sith Empire? Stabbing that assassin... I don't regret it. I'd do it again. But I don't feel accomplished. Even if we saw things differently, it still feels like a huge loss to Alderaan, to the Republic."

---

Cynella has 6 Wounds, no Crits.

As Kat was next to Omandri he heard the request and directed her to a chair "needs stitches either need to cut the dress wider or lose it Ms. Andrim your choice." He said as he saw the wound. Regardless he was able to fix her up well enough.

"I'll leave the moral discussion to you Knight Ulgo." He said turning back to Joran.

"It's a shame about your dress, Lady Andrim," Kat helped Cynella sit down nearby, so she could be close to the prince too that she was here to court. And so that she could help Omandri tend to her wounds.

Her expression was downcast as she considered her reply. "... Today is a great loss to Alderaan, and the Republic, even if the queen and her family are safe and my uncle was apprehended without further bloodshed. Many had to fight friends and comrades in arms, and some had to fight family too. You did the right thing in protecting the prince though, my lady, so don't feel burdened by that." Kat at least tried to cheer Cynella up a little.

"But today we lost a hero. And many lives. I... feel this day heavier on me, than when I fought in the war against the Sith. The Sith at least had no doubts of what they wanted to do; to destroy our home and kill us all. This... it's always hard when such conflict is borne from a misguided idea to do good. I don't doubt that my uncle did what he thought was best for Alderaan, even if it was wrong. Good people make bad decisions too, as I've learned these past days."

You leave Rists alone for 5 seconds and they all try to die.... Maybe he should just stalk them everywhere they go? Gil was lending a helping hand alongside Omandri and Kellen. Which mostly meant staying out of the way and bringing over supplies that were requested. They didn't need his clumsy hands attempting first aid.

Cynella, totally unabashed, took off the dress completely. "It'd be a shame to not at least try to have it be repaired." To have such a moral quandary while near naked (at least until she was clothed by something else) was perhaps odd.

"The bigger tragedy, though, is all this. You're right... the Duke's reputation preceded him." She'd seen similar posts about him to the ones she'd seen about Captain Alderaan. "But you're right. I must stay resolute."

Down to 2 Wounds/Stain. Thanks!

She shouldn't be alive. But she was.

She *definitely* shouldn't be awake yet though.

Neither should Tyche, to be honest.

But they both achieved some semblance of consciousness around the same time.

"Ow," Tyche weakly uttered, eyes still closed. "What ha... master?"

"...Nobody fucks with the Jedi Order?" Layne very weakly said after a bit, her voice barely more than a whisper, "...that's a terrible catchphrase."

"Well actually, madame, profanity is improper for any Jedi," the gentle man said, "But given your trials you have suffered, I shall allow it to slide this once."

"But we will have to work on that, to make you a proper Jedi heroine for my next series," he said warmly.

Her breathing was heavy. Not for any reason Jerri might like of course; it was just hard to breathe with a big chest cavity that was only in the early stages of healing.

"...what?"
