[Day 3 - LA] Huttball Exhibition Games Observation

Jameela frowned, this was a barbaric sport that exploited so many... but she was expected to be here so here she was.

“Do try to cheer for your brother, at least,” the Queen said to her daughter.

“It’s not my brother I am mad at, though his insistence to play this exploitative and violent game is… well I don’t like it. The Hutts are slavers, they exploit whole worlds, utilize slave labor and slave athletes and promote violence! It’s awful!” Jameela said bitterly.

"At least sit up straight, slouching is so unbecoming," she said and then focused on the matches.

Galen had considered playing. He had played a few times in the past. But, it wasn't anything he had a passion for. None of the teams seemed to need him, regardless.

Finding a nearby seat in the audience, Galen heard a bit of the conversation between the queen and the princess. He could certainly appreciate a dislike of slavery, but he had never really taken much issue with the game. The people on the field certainly seemed to be enjoying it.

Seeing Galen she waved and said, "Galen, come to enjoy these silly games?" Her mother did not dignify her sass with a response.

He moved closer and smiled. "I came to watch and support my friends."

"I'm closer to some more than others, but I was with some of them during the Liberation of Bankor, like Garth Wayne Ulgo. Others, like Niall Organa, Zeno Thul and Jedi Hoshin, I first met on Nar Shadda, during the peace talks."

“You are well traveled, Galen. We appreciate your breadth of experiences. How do you find Alderaan in comparison?” she asked.

"It is filled with beauty, your majesty." His eyes drifted to Jameela for a moment. "There's a balance here, between the natural world and civilization that is rare in the galaxy."

Jameela winced at the violence on display and said, “Beautiful hills and bloody battle fields… I just don’t see the appeal of all this! We could have used those resources to build more homes for people, or well anything but this spectacle of violence and excess!”

"Some see only what they expect to see." he shrugged. "Often, it depends on what we're looking for and what we're willing to accept."

He looked at the field. "If one wishes to challenge themself and properly test their abilities against others, they should be respected."

Jameela said, "You think so? I don't know, it seems to just glorify violence."

"The unfortunate truth is that violence is a natural part of the universe." he said. "Beyond the need to hunt for food, most animals will fight one another over territory, dominance or mating. I'm afraid that's still true of many evolved species. There's still a desire to compete and there's still a need to defend ourselves. There are better ways than huttball to follow those instincts, but there are far worse ways too."

She eased her tone and tried to see what Galen found enjoyable about this while an important noble tried to make his past and ended up spilling his drink and thraxxian dog with the works all over Galen.
