[D3LA] For The Republic! (and House Organa)

by Niall Organa
It had been a long time since he'd played Huttball. And that had been on an actual Hutt planet. Playing it again on his home planet was a strange experience.
Still, dressed in the semi-improvised jersey, Republic blue heavily featured, Niall jogged out onto the field. Expression solemn, he looked around at his teammates. "Are you ready to give them what they want?" Taking a deep breath, Niall steadied himself for what was about to come.
And then he did the
Captain Alderaan dance.

Jedi Princess Alysele Organa was dressed in workout clothes, befitting a Jedi and a privileged, rich noblewoman.
"Sir yes sir!" She replied, a smile curving on her side.
She also did the dance.

Brannis wasn't terribly familiar with Huttball, but he'd played enough rough and tumble ball games on his tours with the Republic armed forces and here at home to have a general sense of what to do and how to do it.
He was not sure about this dance idea.
-------------
Among the Huttball skills, Bran's really good rolls are Cool and Leadership. Vigilance and Ranged Light are ok but I'm sure others do them better, and after that it's a lot of just 2-3 greens.

Layne was there; probably *not* in her battle-armor as that was *presumably* not game-legal attire. Neither were her lightsabers there, as again, those probably weren't game-legal. As for the dance, well, it frightened her. More so for her cousin's ability to make things go viral than the dance itself. It was a good thing Daz was; so far; using his powers for good... or well, *not evil stuff* at least.

Well as Veeone could not actually take its armour off it was still wearing it. It was also predominantly Republic blue already, so need for a jersey either. It beeped an affirmative at Niall.
"Roger, roger! Ready to kick posterior for the GLORIOUS REPUBLIC!!!!!!"
It then did the robot dance . . . as it came naturally.

Tethys is limbering up with some stretches and hydro-calisthenics. She's not the galaxy's greatest athlete, but, teamwork, right?
The dances earn a bemused look; since she hasn't seen Daz's latest masterpiece yet, she's not sure what to make of them, though it's a reasonable guess that there is some sort of story there.

Many Alderaanians had seen this game, but not played it. Having played it, Niall had an advantage. He started the team off with an offensive plan meant to overwhelm the other team before they had a chance to react.
"Brannis, you take left, I've got right. Aly, take Tethys down the flank. Call out plays as you see them. Layne, V1..." Niall considered them a few moments. "... smash."
The other team did, in fact, find themselves quickly overwhelmed. Niall's breathing was heavy as they moved back down the field.

Layne wasn't smashing anything, so much as just *steamrolling* through the opposing team's defenses. With the Force flowing freely around her, she wove in and out effortlessly through their ranks, occasionally using brute force to push through... and unlike the poor Major Captain, Layne's breathing wasn't even slightly affected. This was the sort of thing the Jedi Knight excelled at. She scored one goal... *and then another*.
The crowd was hopefully going a little wild.
Athletics (Enhance):
2eP+2eA+2eF+3eD 3 successes, 2 threat, 1 Triumph, 2 Light Side, 1 Dark Side

3 sux added to the running total of 5, adds up to 8 successes: 1 goal.
2 sux added on top for a running total of 10 sux.
Triumph: Another goal.
+2 goals total?
Resilience (Enhance):
1eP+3eA+2eF+2eD 1 failure, 2 advantage, 3 Light Side
Light side converted into success, 2 advantage heals 2 strain.

Tethys doesn't have the brute momentum of Layne or Veeone. Or fancy footwork, for that matter. But there's something about the tall woman that makes the players on the opposing team very reluctant to get physical... or even get too close. Tethys's level stare clears a swath to the goal.
It's tiring work, though!

Aly followed alongside Tethys, deftly weaving between the opposing team members, seemingly unfazed by the chaos, her typical Jedi Princess grace carrying over.

Following Niall's example and drawing on his military experience, Bran found that it's true what they say: "regular communication makes the dream work." Or something like that. Who cares? Bran was too busy scoring an awesome goal to worry about exactly what the popular phraseology said.
-----------
Going for Affection.

The other team had rallied, and Niall's strategies weren't quite able to pierce their defenses on their own.
Still, his canny defensive play held the line, and helped to set up his teammates to score big.
For his part, Niall looked like he was getting his second wind, and was honestly enjoying himself. "Well done, everyone!" He called to his teammates, waving.

Tethys continues her strategy from the first half... if "no one wants to tackle the stern looking Jedi" qualifies as a strategy, which is perhaps debatable. Still, it's somewhat effective! She gets the ball a respectable distance down the field before passing it to set up another goal.
Like Niall, she's beginning to enjoy the exercise now that she's properly warmed up.

Layne had more trouble breaking through during the second half; the opposing team having correctly surmised... perhaps... that she was a threat to be reckoned with and shoring up their defenses accordingly. She *could* have turned it around by tapping into the dark side of the force, of course... but it seemed a little bit excessive to do that for what was really just a game.
That said, even though the opposing team's defense focused heavily on her, making her have to work even harder than before, she still didn't seem winded in the slightest even at the end of the game. If anything, she seemed to have even more energy than she started with somehow; to the point where her prodigous athleticism possibly inspired others to do better themselves.
Athletics (Enhance), 2nd half, for glorious glory and what not.:
2eP+2eA+2eF+3eD 1 advantage, 2 Dark Side
Resilience (Enhance):
1eP+3eA+2eF+2eD 2 successes, 4 advantage, 1 Triumph, 2 Light Side, 1 Dark Side
1 advantage from the athletics roll to give a boost to next roller. Triumph on resilience roll used to upgrade Brannis' Resilience check I guess.

Bran was loving the team effort from folks who he knew only by reputation, and it really motivated him to keep pushing in the game. He was still active and communicating well, helping keep everyone in the right positions -- but boy was he getting tired!
-----------
Round 2:
D3 Huttball: Rd2: Leadership/Pres @hard, 1 upgrade, 1 Setback. Skill 2, pres 4, boost from Command, remove setback with Command Presence, 3 boosts from team:
2eA+2eP+4eB+1eC+2eD 3 successes, 2 advantage
So close to an affection point!
Cumulative success = 36 plus 2 triumph
Resilience:
failed, even with Layne's help!

An eleven to nil triumph for the Republic. Veeone was appropriately happy with their performance, as it celebrated with a full rendition of the roboticised Captain Alderaan dance.
