Rule number 1 (Day 3, MA) (Open)

She had taught a full class of students. Some guards, some neighborhood kids. All learning the same technique.
The Steel Hand Strike, or as her master once said, "the first technique you learn, and last technique you master."
For an hour one half learned the basics, while the other half learned the more advanced applications. But nothing pleased her more than the age old teachers prerogative. With every frustrated grunt, and furrowed brow, came growth as she answered earnest questions with another, and another. Until at last they yielded fruit.
The class began and ended with a bow.
"Well done! The schedule is posted on the board," she said, "and I'll see you all next time. Until then... what's rule number 1?"
They responded in rote, "Don't get hit!"
"And rule number 2?"
"Don't start a fight!"
She beamed, "and if a fight finds you, see rule number 1. Dismissed!"
Then the students were encouraged to stick around as long as they wanted. Some indeed stayed and made use of the various bags. Others kept up practicing the technique. She was content to stand idle and chat with whomever needed guidance.

Breela had mentioned the gym to him before in passing and omandri had a bit of free time. He figured he could stop by there for his daily workout.
He had walked in during the end of the lesson standing toward the back leaning against the wall clad in just some loose shorts and a tight tank top his usual workout gear.
As the lesson ended He made his way forward toward Breela and gave her a smile in greeting "hey there stranger. Just caught the end of that, seemed like an interesting lesson."

"Omandri!" She flushed, "I- what are-" She pulled herself together, "It's good to see you! I'll admit you've caught me indulging in a guilty pleasure." She kissed his cheek in greeting. "Did you actually come to work out or is this a social visit?" She teased playfully.

He smiled and kissed her cheek in return "a visit can be multiple things." He said grinning a little "I usually work out at the Rist facility but remembered you said you were opening up a dojo. Figured I would stop by and see how it was going."

"So far so good," she nodded, "I was worried that mindless Churi's antixeno rhetoric would cause problems for me, but so far no problems. The youth, the boys especially," she rolled her eyes, "have been dropping in since I opened up shop this morning. When I told them I was teaching the soldiers today they all decided to join in." She looked and saw that the girls in attendance were mostly all gone and laughed, "I'm pretty sure the girls were just here looking for Niall."

Omandri smiled a little "Well that makes sense Martial arts and a cute instructor probably help draw in the boys." He said with a chuckle "Man if you can get Captain Alderaan endorsing your business that's sure to help your traffic though."

She giggled, "It's thanks to him and Aly that I'm even set up here. I owe them more than I can ever repay." She grinned and pushed him lightly, "As for you, flattery like that would normally earn you intense private lessons. Sadly we've only got time for a basic work out, what with the impending Huttball game that... your cousin, Zayne? Told me about."

Oamndri shrugged a little "yeah some sort of distant cousin or another. Not sure, he's younger than me and has spent most of his life with the Jedi so I don't know much about him."
But yeah a nice basic work out will probably do if you're not too tired from leading classes all day." He said with a grin

"Tisk, tisk, Omandri," She stretched, "I would have thought by now you'd have a deeper appreciation for my limitless energy." She pulled him over to the mats. "What school did you learn?"

he smirked a little "You are certainly insatiable, i'll say that much." he teased as he approached the mat doing some light stretching of his arms and shoulders while they walked.
"As for training I did some CQC training with the Republic Military the basics but the bulk of real martial arts training came from the Echani people. I lived with them for a while and they taught me a lot of their fighting style, they aren't a strict warrior culture persay but their culture is deeply rooted in using combat training for communication. They believe to truly know someone you have to fight them. Though that has to deal with a myriad of cultural and...." he trailed off chuckling "Sorry I'm rambling again any way my training basis is Republic CQC and Echani Art as it is called."

As usual she listened with adoration as he rambled.
"Then we'll start there." Breela assumed the starting stance of firedancer movement one. "Luckily for you my master was big on cross-training. He'd say, 'From one technique, know 10,000.' and I would roll my eyes. Then on my first battlefield I learned the importance of his lesson. Regardless of where the attack came from I instinctively countered. Firedance 1 is similar to Teras Kasi's 'Rancor Rising', which is similar to Hijkata's 'Peaceful Mind One'." She waited for him to get into position.
(We'll assume it's a two man kata and to an outsider it would appear to be a choreographed dance.)
As they flow through the movements she continues, "Each is specially tailored to a particular situation. But sometimes, where one tradition falls short, another excels. Knowing each allows the body to react when and where it's necessary. To move without thought, to act on pure instinct, achieve flow without mind. That is the key. Then, 'one technique becomes 10,000.'"

As she began instruction his smile fell into a focused line, it seemed he tool learning very seriously. As he went into the form he knew well he followed her step for step adjusting to any variation in her movements deftly. "Firedancing is a bit more exotic for the Echani I'm surprised you have heard of it." He said inquisitively after she finished her lesson.

"If it's a martial art, I probably know it or of it." She nods satisfied with the progress and bows. "It's been my life for nearly four decades, and its one I enjoy very much."
She nods towards her office. "Wanna grab a beer or continue training?"

Oamndri bounced on the balls of his feet a little "come on coach where's that limitless energy you showed me yesterday?" He said with a grin.
"Let's have a little spar, show me what four decades of training looks like."

"Ohhhh ho ho ho, man I love a cocky guy. They make the cutest faces when humbled." She rolled her eyes coquettishly, maybe a touch arrogantly. "Alright tough guy," she said assuming a relaxed guard with her hands open, "this is the defensive stance that ties back in to today's lesson. You execute the steel hand strike from here." But something was different about the stance. Her shoulder was pulled tight against her jaw, and the other hand was open facing towards him.

OOC: New territory for the gym. Dapper said roleplay only so no lasting strain or damage. At least nothing you or the bot outside cant instantly fix. Otherwise we can have a mock battle and roll cool, then go from there. Or we can sling brawl with no difficulty and tally up successes and advantages.
Or we can hand wave it, your call.
