[Day 5 - EE] A View to a Kill

[Jocasta Teraan]

As the ship settled into orbit, Jocasta made her way into an observatory room to take in the view.

One half of the room was constructed of transparisteel and protruded from the side of the vessel. It was designed such that you could walk out into the viewing area and it would seem as though you were floating above the waves, or in this case the skies.

To her surprise, she found Joran there, seemingly standing on air.

"Prince Joran, pardon my intrusion."

Prince Joran turned dressed in a finely tailored suit and said, “Lt. Teraan, you’re not intruding. Just enjoying the view. These things are not as fun as they appear, lots of meetings and greetings and photo sessions but we make do.”

Jocasta seemed to float as she gracefully crossed the threshold onto the transparent floor. Her long, trailing dress faded from a light, natural green at the hem to a subtle gold at the bodice. She looked like something out of a fairy tale with the dress and her fiery red hair.

"The view is spectacular." she pauses a moment to take in the sight of Alderaan from above. "And I quite agree, the formalities can be tiresome. But this," she gestures outward, "and the company make it worthwhile." she says as she takes a step closer to the Prince to take hold of his arm.

“It makes up for the shortcomings,” he agreed. “It feels like a thousand things are happening at once, and the Festival is only what half over. I can only imagine how my mother feels. But I am not here to gripe, enjoying the cruise?”

"I was appreciating the cruise, but now I am enjoying it." she smiles at Joran.

"There has been quite a bit going on, some bad, but some good. The Queen is a strong woman, how she handles herself for the ups and the downs is admirable.

Your sister seemed to enjoy the Flower Court this afternoon. We missed you there. I hope she passed along the treats I made, she was rather... enthusiastic about all the baked goods." she lets out a small laugh.

“She did, it was great actually. I am fine with missing stuff like that, not my thing, but she loves sweets so I know she was busy helping herself. I leave all that touchy feely crap to my brother and sister, I am not here for it, I’m a solider,” he responded.

"If you were to become King, you would have to deal with the touchy and the feely."

She strokes his arm, "Away from the Court, away from all the formalities, just you and me, soldier to soldier, what is it you want?"

"My wife can do the touchy feely for me, done. Me, I just want to keep Alderaan strong and a symbol for the Republic, simple," he responded.

Jocasta considered this for a moment, "A very practical solution and an admirable goal. Sometimes I forget that it is a burden that can be shared. I do not envy the Queen for the hardships she's had to endure."

Jocasta looks into his eyes with sincerity, "I could be your partner, your wife, your confidant. Someone who will stand by you on the throne, someone who will put aside their own interests for Alderaan, for the Crown, and for you."

Jocasta smiles at his remark. "And you are a great King in waiting. Alderaan will stay strong under your rule."

She slides her arm around his waist and pulls herself in for a kiss.

She rested her head on Joran's shoulder and peered out at the entirety of Alderaan below them. Forgetting for a moment, the troubles that awaited them planetside.
