[Day 5 - EE] Nothing stronger than family

[Kellen Rist]

"I think that just about sums it up cousin." Kellen rubbed his eyes a moment. "Hold on though. Let's back up a few steps shall we?" He looked at Tera and started counting things off on his fingers.

"You say that Lord Syresh has stolen this ship from the Hutts. Based on his response I'm inclined to believe you." He gave the Lord a look that suggested he wasn't angry, just disappointed.

"Now, if you just take the ship then in the eyes of Alderaan you stole a ship from House Syresh. That doesn't exactly help young Bo Lanar's case for restoring his family's name." He gave Bo a sympathetic shrug then looked at his cousin and back at Tera.

"So why don't we turn this ship around? You can call the Hutts to tell them you have their ship on Alderaan. Lord Syresh can promise not to cause any more problems and apologise to the Hutts. Omandri and I can ensure he doesn't try to run off." Kellen stared at the pilot. "Really, dishonouring your family by stealing from the Hutts? It might be that House Syresh decide to call the Dutchess for the more standard services of House Rist..."

He looked back at Tera. "Assuming the Hutts are satisfied we all split the reward money, and no more feathers get ruffled. What do you say?"

[Dapper Dog]

“I am not seeing how I get a ship out of that, love. And if comes to a fight I am not concerned about killing… so let’s revise this plan. I get the ship, you get the money and we go our separate ways. If the Syresh lordling is going to be a problem then he dies before we leave? One less loose end. That seems perfectly fair to me, loves. No need to complicate it further, you will never see me again as much as you might want to,” she winked playfully.

“I am not worried about the Hutts, this isn’t my first gundark ride. I know how to properly change identifiers.”

[Kellen Rist]

"Ah, so you are a thief who steals from thieves? I suppose there are worse ways to make a living. But what is it with people coming to Alderaan and thinking they can get away with just murdering Alderaanians? Very uncivilized, wouldn't you agree cousin? Also rather bad for the family business if they just go around murdering people instead of organizing a contract."

He looked at Bo. "Well then, what's your excuse Bo Lanar? Other than being distracted by a very pretty face of course."

[Dapper Dog]

"Hey we are not trying to kill people, just saw an opportunity. Just trying to get ours, man. You know a quick score, stealing from a thief seemed pretty straight forward."

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri sighed and leaned forward putting his elbows on his knees "guess there's not much to be done about it then." He said with a resigned tone.

Sitting back and reaching into his jacket pocket pulling out a slim black metal case flipped open to reveal some cigarettes "mind if I smoke in here?" He asked looking around the group.

Not waiting for a response he lit one and put the case back. It didn't smell like regular smoke and had a somewhat pleasant aroma. Kellen might recognize it as a similar smell before the huttball game. Usually the mixture enhanced ones strength but it wasn't an exact science and Omandri relaxed a little but didn't feel the strength boosting effects.

"Hey we are not trying to kill people, just saw an opportunity. Just trying to get ours, man. You know a quick score, stealing from a thief seemed pretty straight forward."

"Alas, is there no honour among thieves?" Kellen smirked at Bo. "A lightsaber in a cockpit seems like a rather bad idea don't you think? Might kill the pilot AND wreck the controls. Nasty situation that." He tried to get a better look at the hilt. "Unless of course it's all a bluff. Still a gutsy play. No one can argue with that."

He remembered the scent of the stim and wondered what his cousin was up to. Kellen hoped it really was all one big bluff, a calculated gamble. He tried to get a closer look at what she was holding without making any sudden moves, just being inquisitive.

"May I ask how you ended up with that Lady Deathwright? Professional curiousity. You wouldn't believe the number of artifacts that go missing these days."

[Dapper Dog]

It is as much as he can tell the real deal, or a remarkable replica without it being ignited there is no real way to tell but that’s a risky gamble that will probably be Syresh’s last moments. Tera responded, “Quit stalling, agree or disagree… this is really a win, win for all of us and any battle is a net loss. I really don’t see why you feel the need to play hero for this lordling of no significance.”

“Or is this your one good dead for a House of assassins?”

Bo frowned and said, “Maybe we should just go, I don’t want to mess with House Rist if they want to get involved. It’s not worth it, we can find a better ship, promise, Tera, baby.”

Tera replied, “Ugh, assassins with a conscious, Alderaan truly is pathetic.” She looked at Kellen and said, “I don’t care about relics, I steal only when I need to, and always from deserving fools who need a lesson taught. I like the irony.”

“Fine, keep your stupid toy, Syresh,” she said patting the sweating lord on the head, “At least we are taking the creds. 1500 for us and 1500 for House 'Goodie four shoes' Rist.”

Unless stopped she left the cockpit to find the safe.

[Kellen Rist]

"We're a complicated people." He smiled after Tera as she left the bridge. "That's better, wouldn't you agree Bo? Lord Syresh?" He gave Omandri a friendly grin.

Kellen looked at Bo with a bit of a sparkle in his eyes. "I can see why you like her. Excitement only gets you so far though. What's your plan for getting House Lanar reinstated? Do you have one?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Well I don’t know,” he said looking at his still missing finger on his hand and said, “Had a bad run-in with other assassins, got that settled… I figure my ugly sister, probably seen her, Riss, she thinks she’s hot stuff but woof… anyways, she’s making the plans. Me, I just go with the flow,” he responded confidently.

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri exhaled in a relieved manner glad it all sorted out without any violence "Not all of House Rist are assassins lady Deathwright. Glad this didn't have to get out of hand." He smiled back at Kellen guess some problems you can just talk at until they go away.

He fixed Bo with a look "I would probably be nicer to your sister who is quite literally the reason you're alive." He said with a disapproving frown but the expression relaxed to neutrality as he continued "but if you plan to get reinstated as a house. If thats a goal you have, you have to be smart about who your friends are Bo. Certain ones will make it harder, some will make it easier." He said with a small but friendly smile.

[Dapper Dog]

Bo shrugged at the nice comment, "That's on you Lord Rist, I don't really get her appeal but hey do you man. I am not sure what will happen with Lanar, but we'll get by we always do."

[Kellen Rist]

Kellen was rather practiced in the art of talking at problems until they went away. It was always nice when it worked. He looked at his cousin and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you know his sister? What an interesting coincidence. Family eh?" He smirked at both of them.

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri nodded to Kellen "yeah she shuttled me around the outer rim for a few months a couple years back before I got my own ship. She's very, interesting." He said with a small smile.

"But well your sister has been a good friend to me and you essentially convinced Tera to back down. So if you need anything reach out."

[Dapper Dog]

The ship returns to the landing pad and the would be thieves depart, though holding up their end of the bargain.

Kellen was rather practiced in the art of talking at problems until they went away. It was always nice when it worked. He looked at his cousin and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you know his sister? What an interesting coincidence. Family eh?" He smirked at both of them.

Omandri looked over to Kellen "Good work getting through to him. Or at least making him second guess himself enough so she dropped it."

He looked over to the ship "What about Lord Syrush? Should we turn him over to local authorities? Or at least inform them of the situation?" He said raising an eyebrow at his cousin.

Kellen nodded. "Sometimes a long-winded reminder that no line has been crossed yet is enough. Deal with enough students and you see all of human nature play out. I think Bo is proud of his heritage, so appealing to it worked." He shrugged. "Glad I was right, this time."

His gaze returned to the beautiful ship. "As for the Lord? Stealing from the Hutts makes him a fool. So, do we care enough to get involved in that sort of business cousin? Might be worth us mentioning it to your sister in case it could benefit the House."
