As things quite down they are directed back to their seats for the second half of the performance, and the walls are pulled back along with the floors to reveal a clear transparasteel bubble giving them a beautiful view of the distant moon and star of Alderaan. The outline of the hazy horizon line mixed with atmosphere.

The singers take the stage and continue with folk songs from all across Alderaan, as there are region al tales and stories from old that still endure. By the end Jameela sheds tears of enjoyment as they end on romantic themes in honor of the Festival.

Once finished they bow and take a moment to retire before returning to mingle with the suitors and the Queen. Jameela is speaking with the singers while the Queen is seated and observing drinking water and enjoying the view. The singers are eager to speak and quite happy with their performance.

OOC: If they wish to engage the Singers they can roll a Cool (Presence) check at Average and attempt to gain either Suitor or Affection, one or the other; they can engage with Jameela and that is a Charm (Presence) or Core Worlds (Intellect) check at Hard to gain Affection; or they can engage the Queen with a Discipline (Willpower) or Survival (Cunning) check to gain Suitor points at Average difficulty. Do be specific as some approaches may be more advantageous than others.

The view was spectacular, and terrifying. Galen had never cared for space. It was wonderous and infinite, but so cold and empty. He turned away from the expanse to look at Jameela, chatting with the singers. She seemed so excited and happy. He didn't want to interrupt that and, instead, Galen turned his attention to the queen.

"Alderaan is a world of incredible beauty, your majesty, I've greatly enjoyed my time here."

It wasn't much to open with, but he had a moment of difficulty focusing on anything specific, as he caught sight of the princess again.

"Many things." he replied, resisting an urge to look towards the princess again. "Riding the thranta was magnificent. I appreciate how much wildland has been preserved and the steps in place to maintain their balance. That's why the hounds concerned me so much. I am hopeful that the ones we captured can be healed, but I'm not sure what should be done with them."

Bran didn't know anything about Ithorian opera before tonight, but he did know and love Alderaan. He'd served with soldiers from various regions of the world, and especially among flight crews and their supporting teams, plenty of time on comms meant plenty of random singing. He was far from expert in the songs or their meanings, but knew enough for the singers' performance to really kindle his curiosity.

Without monopolizing the conversation, Bran asked various questions about the study time taken with folk music to appreciate its roots before converting the style, about how the Ithorians felt Alderaanian songs translated to their style, and about whether folk music from other worlds seemed similar in Ithorian opera or if each world showed uniqueness. They were softball questions and he would ask few if one of the singers was chatty about their method and results, but Bran was going to make sure he learned something from this.

Seeing Galen seeking the queen, Blai decided to try to get a moment to speak a bit more at length with the princess. Despite his... rather obtuse comment on the performance earlier, he had really enjoyed it. Had even learnt a number of interesting things from it, in fact! He'd been on Ithor for a short time... but as his earlier comment showed, his knowledge of the planet was pretty much restricted to aspects of its natural world.

As he came closer to Jameela and heard Lord Ulgo's comments and questions on the performance, he noticed that was pretty much true all around. Even in the Core Worlds, close to home - perhaps even more here - his knowledge of the people and its ways was much more limited.

Well... people say noticing a shortcoming is half the way to addressing it. So as he approached, he first heard and paid attention to Brannis' conversation with the singers, and was genuinely interested in their answers. There was something to learn from everything, after all - and as he was discovering, people's relationships to their environments was sometimes as interesting as those of the fauna and flora!

When he finally spoke, though, he made an effort to strike an actual conversation with Jameela - one based on the areas close to home, at that. Trying to address one's shortcomings...

"Thanks for this opportunity, your highness! I haven't been to operas often - as a uni student and travelling often, I think I'm more used to the Wookie synth-rock you mentioned. Or acid-prog... you know the type", he says with a grin. "But I actually discovered something new to like with this magnificent performance here! "

He smiles at the singers, then looks at Jameela again. "I think there was this group in Balosar... they drew from the tensions and struggles of their difficult history, but also the past of their planet before the economic standstill, and poured that into a mix of Balosan traditional music, progressive jazz... and classical music. If I remember it right, they'd been working on a project with the local opera, too! I think you might like them too! But then... I have much more to learn about music from you than the opposite, clearly!", he says with a gentle smile. "Who'd you suggest I listen to? Or where should we visit for good music?"

Bran smiles and looks down, embarrassed perhaps at the focus shifting from music to him. "I, ah, I guess we'll see what I find. Festival has always been important to Alderaan, and I believe it's possible I could..." He shakes his head a little. "Ahem. This year's festival is very important to the Alderaanian people, as part of the recovery from the invasion, so I hope that love and romance are found by many," he says optimistically. "My personal focus is on ensuring continued peace on the planet, which is what our people will need so they may enjoy those new or rekindled loves going forward."

She said to Blai, abit surprised he chose to talk to her and not the super whizz singers, “The Coruscant scene is where I have most of my knowledge, but if you are interested check..” she began to list a several artists and groups that would be grouped under new wave l-fi folk punk and most of the m underground. Lots of groups that seemed to promote peace and anti-war sentiments and were often advocates for the lower classes.

“That’s my scene.”

The usually awkward nerd seems very interested, making remarks on some of the groups she mentions here and there, and clearly making mental notes to go after their music later. He then mentions a few lower class groups from a few of the worlds he stopped by or visited during his research trips - his knowledge is definitely much more limited than hers, and he sometimes mentions them by the style of one or two songs and takes a long time to remember their names, but he seems quite interested in the conversation all in all.

"Well... I suppose Coruscant is really where it's at for underground groups though, eh? I guess the counterculture thrives the most right where the power lies!"

He seems to ponder for a while, then. "I wonder how the lyrics - and the sentiment! - of the counterculture from Coruscant would compare with that from frontier worlds at the far reaches of the Outer Rim. Or right near the borders of the Republic... you know? The pressure and suffering of the lower classes is definitely present in both circumstances... and I suppose peace and greater equality would easen minds in both cases. But if an ethnic-punk protest group from Tattoine or Moonus Mandel, say, were to meet a folk punk crew from Coruscant... do you think the ideas in their songs would clash? Or complement each other? It sounds like very different environments, but at the same time there's things in common..."

He nods. "Yeah... I feel there's much to learn from them. From the lands, and from the people, yeah?", he adds with a smile.

"Makes me wonder - Have you ever been to the Outer worlds, your highness? I've heard of your interest in xenoarchaeology, and with that plus your interest in the struggles of the common people, if you haven't I feel you'll enjoy it and bring much of interest back to Alderaan when you do!"

"Very beautiful indeed," Bran agrees with a warm smile. "But a world like others where the people need a break from war. It is..." He looks to one side and takes a deep breath. "It is easier to rebuild, to heal the things that we can see, than it is to heal the hearts and minds of those who lived through the Sith invasion. It was devastating, and victory alone does not bring healing and recovery. It will take time, a calm and steady hand at the helm -- like the queen has provided," he gives a little bow of his head in Solara's direction, "and responsible leadership from across the planet to help -- that's what I've been doing in the House of Lords." His voice trails into just a matter-of-fact statement, as though a 26-year-old in the Lords is no big deal.
