[D5 LA] Professional Curiosity

As the ship lifted from the waters of Alderaan into the sky, Garth found himself drawn near the bridge. Obviously security was high and he couldn't get close, but he couldn't help but try and get as close to the action (as he saw it) as possible.

Leaning against a wall, he listened to the well oiled machine that was the crew of the vessel, this was where he felt at home. Up here, in the stars, he thought as he loosened his tie slightly.

Cynella mulled about the cruise, curious if any dastardly deeds were going to occur at some point. She'd failed to make a good ally in last night's court so perhaps there was something else to be gained today.

The sight of a man resting against the wall drew her interest. "Are you not much for parties then? Or is it taking off from the waters?" she asked with a warm smile. "Or something else entirely? I could be wrong."

Garth glances over at Cynella ans flashes her a smile and a dip of the head in greeting.

"Nah, just a little edgy on a ship ah ain't behind the stick on?" He admits freely. "Thought ah'd just hang up here near th' bridge, try 'n convince mahself the pilots know what they're doin. M' brain tells me the Queen wouldn' endanger her guests wi' less than th' best, but mah blood always screams diff'rent."

"Garth, Garth Ulgo." He introduces himself. "Ah think ah saw y' chattin with th' Prince at th' Huttball, but didn't catch yer name."

Cynella narrowed her eyes as she parsed through the man's accent. "Oh! Yes, I think we must come from different backgrounds." Much more double entente than she'd meant. "I'm used to having others pilot for me so it's not a huge concern to me."

She raised a brow at his introduction. "Ulgo? I've met a few of your cousins. I'm Cynella Rhiannon Esmetrice Andrim, though Cynella is completely suitabile," she said with her Captain Alderaan imitation bow. "Yes, I've been trying to curry the prince's favor."

Garth's mind tries to process the name, but thankfully only has to settle on one. "Well then Miss Cynella, please don' judge th' rest of mah family by this poor example of an Ulgo. Ah spent all mah life off world, only just come here in recent weeks."

"Ah hope yer finding some success wi' your endeavour. Though ye phrase it diff'rent than most ah've spoken to. Chasing his favour, not his heart?"

"I'd say most people have referred to me as Lady Cynella in these parts," she said with a warm smile. "Though I am intrigued by your revelation. How is it that you weren't raised in these parts?" With Riss, and her unfortunate lack of manners, the story clicked together.

"Yes, I suppose his heart is also the case. However, I'm of the opinion that love, true love that is, cannot be won in such a short amount of time." She pursed her lips. "Then again, isn't that what this festival is all about?"

"An' most those who insist on a title lemme know in advance," Garth countered with a deep bow. "M'lady."

"As fer mah past? Ain't no secret, ship ah was travellin' on were shot down over Onderon. Ah were in th' only escape pod that made it t' the surface. Didn' even know my lineage until recent."

Garth reached up and scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah, be careful who y' share those thoughts with. I were out t' dinner with Baroness Thul, told her much the same, that ah got feelings, but can't fall in love in three days and well..." He lets out a low whistle.

"Man, th' look she gave me coulda disintegrated me in mah seat."

"Oh it's no big trouble. I'm not the type to get angry over something so minor, though I admit that I prefer to stick to tradition." She returned the bow. "And that's certainly an interesting story. You're like right out of a fable then! Did you have any epic adventures before coming back then?" she asked, totally romanticizing the history of this total stranger.

"Is that really such a common opinion here on Alderaan?" she asked, tilting her head. "I see. Then yes, I'll be sure to be more careful in the future."

With Cynella's perspective put forth, Garth contemplates the scenario and laughs. "It does sound like it could be outta one o' them holovids, but in them stories don't the hero wind up marryin' the Princess?" He asked with a smirk.

"By the gods ye'r right...Noble child, raised in blissful ignorance o' his heritage. Learns self worth through service to others in th' Navy, before returnin' home and findin' love with the Baroness of his own families mortal enemies!"

"Thankfully neither of us're Jedi or Jerri Organa would have a bestseller on his hands."

Cynella nodded, enthused by the idea. "Oh? And what if you were to marry the crown princess, Jameela? Then that'd really be a story for the holovids, wouldn't it?"

She tilted her head. "Who's this Jerri Organa? I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him yet actually, nor do I know any of his work apparently." She glanced around. "Hopefully I haven't insulted him too much."

"T'would be a mite short of a marriage ah think. If Lady Beniko didn't murder me in mah sleep, ah think Miyi would ensure ah woke up dead." Garth confessed hands out wide. "What can ah say? Ah know how t'make friends."

"And as fer Jerri, he's a....ah s'pose the term'd be adult romance author, with a specifically jedi focused subject matter." He shrugs before clarifying. "But don' worry, ah don' think yer missing much if yer not familiar with his work."

Cynella raised a brow. "The Thul and the Sith? What in the stars are you doing with them then in this context?"

She tilted her head. "Ah, well, perhaps my sister has heard of him then. Kind of a strange choice of literary art but... I suppose everybody has their calling."

"Well MIyi an' ah are spendin' a little time t'gether. Had a few little dates, she's fun." Garth answers, not saying anything about Lana.

"Is yer sister here too, Lady Andrim?" He asks as he wracks his brain. "Andrim, is that an Alderaanian family name, or you from another system too?"

"Ah." Cynella furrowed her brow, still a bit shocked on the whole matter. "What do your cousins think of this whole arrangement? I'd heard about standings between the Houses and all."

She shook her head, remembering that this man had apparently missed out on a lot of the noble lifestyle. Thus it was her duty to educate him! "No, it's just me. House Andrim is from Kuat, actually, and is one of the Ten that governs said planet."

"Well, it were Unc...Duke Bouris's idea, so ah imagine they can't be too upset." Garth replies and cracks a crooked grin. "Not that they got much say in mah love life. Or is that another one of them noble traits ah'm ignorant of?"

Listening to Cynella continue he smiles. "Oh, Kuat, ah've heard of that." He pulls up his registration papers for the Sparrow. "Mah ship's one o' yours, a Firespray?"

Cynella smiled faintly. "I'd say that establishing a lineage or alliance via marriage is one of the hallmarks of a noble's life. That is why I'm here, actually, though I'm glad to hear that your arrangement is in your House's best interests."

She nodded and looked at the papers. "Yes, of course, the Firespray. I couldn't say that I had a hand in its design but that's certainly a Kuati starship."

"So which is it yer looking fer, an alliance, or a lineage?" Garth asks curiously, intrigued by the Kuati woman.

"So y' didn' design this one? Does that mean ye've designed others?"

"The latter," she said with a faint smile. "I think it's in Alderaan's best interests to purchase ships from my planet. As a pilot of one of our creations, surely you wouldn't disagree."

She shook her head. "Not unless you count some minor details. But if you're a pilot, I imagine you mainly care about the specifications, like the aerodynamics and the like in and out of atmosphere."

"Ah ain't had no complaints so far." Garth agrees with Cynella. "Can't speak on th' capital scale, but personal and freighter size ye'r hard t' beat...except."

Garth leans in close and whispers two little words. "Leg room."

Cynella's expression brightened and then she frowned. "Oh! Is that not to your standards. That's actually my area of expertise, that and, well, how comfortable the actual cushions are."
