Above It All [Day 5, LA]

[Riss]

Stood by a viewing port where she could witness the view in a beautiful room with the constant din of piano music in the background. Riss stirred her glass of wine with gentle wrist motions as she stood with one arm across over her stomach to support the elbow of the arm holding her glass. Head full of thoughts she sipped at her drink while she tackled a few. Looking pensive as she could almost barely make out her reflection in the glass which allowed her to have such a wonderful view.

Breela was sort of meandering, having no real purpose to being aboard. Aside from staying close by in case of an emergency. She too had a drink in hand, and was wearing a stylish blue evening gown that hugged the contours of her body. Stopping into the lounge she listened with interest to the piano music.

Then her eyes found the woman looking down on the world below. And, for whatever reason, her intuition told her to go and strike up a conversation. So she approached without thinking about it and awoke her from her reverie.

"Beautiful isn't it, and a little ironic?" She smiled, "From up here it would seem that we're above the problems of this world. But really until the cruise ends, this world's problem's are up in the air." She extended her hand, "Breela Po."

[Riss]

Riss meanwhile was wearing an elegant ensemble, one she'd gotten herself explicitly for this event. With how things were going it was a simple matter to convince herself of the expense. Broken from her reverie she glances over toward the woman, a slight furrow to her brow. With the realization setting in she smiles broadly, brightly, and extends a hand for the shake, "Riss, Captain of the Rimma Roundabout. Also.." she shakes her head, "never-mind. Anyway, you're right," she glances back out of the viewport, getting slightly mesmerized in the sight again, "it's pretty."

[Breela Po]

Breela smiles taking her hand, "Charmed. Sorry if I'm interrupting, you do look like you've got quite a bit on your mind." She turns and looks out the window as well, "Sometimes a fresh perspective can evoke critical insight. Other times a pleasant distraction is just what is needed. I thought now might be one of those times." She turned to the taller gorgeous woman and sighed, I wish I was that tall. "I love your dress by the way!"

OOC: Breela would be dressed in this.

[Riss]

"Thank you," she says, bright tone rising as she steps away a bit and extends her arms. With a step to either side she shows herself off a little bit. Laughing, briefly, she settles back and leans up against the space near the view. Looking to her, "Pleasant distractions are my usual go-to. Complicated thoughts are so heavy.. best just to leave them behind," she suggests, a slight smile.

"Don't think I've seen you around before. What's your thing?" she asks, a raise to her brow.

[Breela Po]

Breela watches Riss' gaiety with some amusement, "Mmhmmm, my thing? Sorry, I'm not following." She leans against the glass with her arms crossed tracing a circle around her lips.

[Riss]

Chuckling, a shake of her head, "Your thing like.." she brings one hand up, placing it on her chest, "Riss, Captain of the Rimma Roundabout. Right now, enjoying myself something of a wild vacation," and then she lays her hand out to indicate Breela. "So you're Breela who is.."

[Breela Po]

She blushed with embarrassment. "Sorry... a force sensitive warrior, and martial artist." Geez this woman is like a dancing Ferrcat. Mesmerizing, enchanting, and then once your guard is down deadly. "Who is here keeping half an eye on events." She grins and takes a sip of wine. "So far the party has been nice and boring... and I hope it stays that way."

[Riss]

"Really? Maybe not as exciting as like.. a shootout or something? But it's been less than boring," she gives a nod toward the window. "Great views, good drinks, beautiful people," she gives a slight shrug.

"Hard to really be boring with all that considered," she says with a smirk. Letting it linger for just a second before she adds, "So, what are you keeping an eye out for?"

[Breela Po]

"Ohhh you know, the usual." She takes a sip while gesturing to the planet below, "an assassination attempt, insurrection, terrorism, another irresponsible demonstration. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the ship was attacked by Hutt pirates or something." She chuckled, "Anything, and everything is apparently possible on Alderaan."

She grins, "Don't get me wrong I prefer boring. A beautiful planet, with ohh so beautiful people." One in particular came to mind. "Once this business with the festival and the looming civil war is over I intend to make every day as boring as I possibly can."

[Riss]

"Alderaan is.. complicated, but she'll be fine," she says with a slightly muted smile. Glancing out the window for a moment as her brow furrows slightly. Shifting her arms into a more comfortable position she looks back to Breela.

A smile returning, "So, why Alderaan? I'm sure there's plenty of places in the galaxy that could use help. Got the whole Empire out there to consider after all, mm?"

[Breela Po]

"The... empire?" She asks suddenly reticent. Was this why my intuition guided me to her?

[Riss]

"Assassination attempts, insurrection, terrorism," she tilts her head with the curiosity latent in the question. Arms crossing over her chest, "Sounds like you came here to try and fix things, or at least stop them from getting worse. Alderaan.. seems like she needs some of it, but why did you choose here and not somewhere out in the Empire? There's.. sooo much more that could use with some fixing in that space. Sith, the Empire itself, they take the dangerous problems we have here and turn them into the status quo."

"If you're just looking to help people, there's a lot of people stuck out there. With a whole government kicking down on them," she says, raising a brow.

[Breela Po]

"Ohhhh," she chuckles, "because... well, because it seemed like a good idea at the time." Talk about best laid plans. She scoffs. "I wanted peace, instead I found this. Now..." Sighing, Breela continues honestly, "now I don't know what I want." She leaned against the window and thought for a moment.

If I went to the Empire... I'd end up dead or a Sith.

"Let me ask you something," she said, "You seem well travelled. So let's say you decide right here, right now, you want to start over and go some place where nobody knows you. No one in the Empire, no one in the Republic. A place where you can start again and live a peaceful life. Where do you go?"

[Riss]

"I've done that before, running away to someplace nobody knows me. Left home when I was sixteen because I was fed up with how things were going. Hitched a ride on a ship, found my first doomed whirlwind romance of my life, and then me and her parted ways. I didn't like commitment to things back then, so finding a nice peaceful place? Wasn't in the cards. I wanted adventure and excitement," she chuckles, shaking her head. "Still do. But.. no, I've been around the galaxy a lot. I've seen a lot of different places while running from things I didn't want to contend with and everything.. everything brings you back home eventually."

"Kinda breaking your question a little," she chuckles, shaking her head. "But in the end? If I was going to start again and live a peaceful life. I'd do it back home."

[Breela Po]

"Not at all," Breela shakes her head, "It sounds like you've lived a life worthy of song. My husband would have wanted to turn your story into a ballad had he met you when he was alive." She smiles easily. "I'm guessing your opinion of commitment has changed since your youth?"

[Riss]

"Changed.. yea, most people don't make it that far without their opinion changing on a few things. Thinking I'm more open to the idea of it.. would take something," she shrugs, "I'm not sure. There's a chance it'd work out though, slim as it is," she offers with a brief smile, glancing off in a moment of thought.

[Breela Po]

Breela smiles, "Indeed, and opinions are subject to change more than once." Swirling the wine around absently, "If I may offer a candid opinion from my own travails: Even a slim chance at such happiness is worth reaching for. Even if it comes at a tremendous cost." She sighs, "Even if it sets you against the only world you've ever known. I truly believe that now, more than ever before." She too drifts off into her own thoughts.

[Riss]

"Sounds kinda like you had a life changing experience," she chuckles, there's a lightness to it. "Wanna share the juicy story then? What's got you looking forward to this chance at happiness so much, mm?"

[Breela Po]

"Hmm," Breela chuckles, "that thought was simply my gift to you. My happiness came and went because I didn't hold it tight enough. Now I meet each dawn with hope, and each night without." Another sip, then another, "Well... I suppose there's one person," she purrs, "but I doubt he would reciprocate my desires." She shakes her head, "No he- he's far to young, and he deserves the chance to become a father one day."
