Alderaan - Love and Intrigue

Garth was frustrated as the security checkpoint frisked him....again.

"Yes, ah know ah've been seen in the company of a prom'nent Thul noble." He answers the security agent. "An' no, that don' mean ah'm on th' no fly list."

"Well of course ah came unarmed that were on th' invitation." He snaps as he holds up his invitation as he is patted down. "See, Ulgo, not Thul..."

After a long discussion and some demeaning demands to be on his best behaviour, Garth was admitted to the ship and immediately went in search of a stiff drink.

The Queen had just finished a small photo opportunity and was now taking a brief moment of respite with a stiff drink of water. Alone at the bar but her Queen’s guard watching at all times.

Glancing down the bar, Garth was surprised to see the Queen, but not surprised by the security detail.

"Enjoyin' a quiet moment while y' can yer Majesty?" He asked, loud enough to be heard, but quiet enough to be politely ignored if she wished.

"Our time is ever in demand, Lord Ulgo. We hop you enjoy your time upon our ship," she said to the man.

Taking the returned conversation as an invitation, Garth moves a little closer, just so he doesn't have to talk loud enough for the whole bar to hear.

"She's a fine vessel, yer Majesty. Ah'm sure everyone'll have a grand time, it'll def'nitely be one of the festival highlights for me personally. Ah heard about the performance later, are you a big opera fan?"

“No, it’s horrible Ithorian wailing, but our daughter enjoys it. We shall endure on her behalf,” she said candidly.

“No offense to ithorians, we just don’t enjoy opera of any stripe.”

"Th' sacrifices parents make fer their kids, huh?" Garth commented with a smile. "Some thing's never change across the 'verse."

"Got a diff'rent way t' unwind then yer Majesty? Y' seemed quite content on th' back of the Thranta the other day and Baroness Miyi even says ye'r hot favourite t' win the upcoming race too."

“We do enjoy riding and hunting big game, when we have rare moments to enjoy such paststimes,” she offered. “And what of Lord Ulgo? We are told you were a pilot… or perhaps still are?”

"Yer sources are true. Much as yerself yer Majesty, ah ride an' hunt big game," Garth replies tongue in cheek. "Although what ah ride tends t' travel a might faster, and the game shoots back."

"Ah'm thankful that it doesn' seem mah professional talents 'll be needed, there's been enough fightin' here in recent times. Speakin' of fighting though, ah wanted t' offer mah thanks on behalf of the people of Bankor, for your system's support in the rebuilding."

"We were honored to aid the people of Bankor," she said proudly.

"If only more leaders were so free wi' their charity an' generosity, ah think th' verse would be a better place. Ah think whoever sits th' throne next will have a hard legacy to live up to, but a fine pedigree to sit 'em in good stead." Garth offered as an observation.

"An hopefully leave the future Queen Mother some well deserved time fer herself."

"Retirement, we are unsure if such a thing will exist but we appreciate the optimism, Lord Ulgo," she said honestly.

"Ah must admit a lack of familiarity wi' the structure of leadership here, does one normally serve until unable? Seems after givin' so much've oneself to the people, ye'd earn a little you time." Garth shrugs - politics are so not his thing.

"Like many things on Alderaan, it depends, but we have a never ending duty to Alderaan and the Republic," she said honestly.

Garth smirks as he gazes into his old fashioned; Zane had gotten him hooked on them a few years ago.

"Yer duty extend t' ensuring the Republic's friendliest pilot don' lose his touch while hes
in your little corner of the verse? Th' paperwork t' take mah trainin bike out requires....special dispensations from tha crown."

“Is your bike eco-friendly, Lord Ulgo. We do value our pristine manicured world. We go to great lengths to keep it that way. Alderaan’s natural beauty is precious to us,” she admitted.

"Well ah guess that d'pends on perspective. Tallulah is standard Mobquet fact'ry issue, so less friebdly than yer thrantas, but more friendly than th' leaking hyperfuel fact'ry Galen were telling me 'bout."

“Have your Tallulah inspected at the spaceport, and if it passes our exacting standards then you have our blessing,” she offered.

"Ah will yer Majesty, thankyou, an' ah look forward t' seeing who's up t' compete in yer Thranta race in a few days. Miyi said it were her favourite part of th' festival."

"We believe it will be an exciting event for all to enjoy," she responded.
