Alderaan - Love and Intrigue

Niall waited with his father for the apparent Organa child and the apparent Organa child's apparent caretakers to arrive.

"I never knew Uncle Beregor." Niall said. "Although I heard stories..." He looked at Rhys. "How much of them were true?"

Riss actually made it back to her own ship last night, which was good because the damned beeping of her commlink really did not put her in a good mood when she woke with another hangover this morning. Searching through the history only brought embarrassment, but also solutions, and telling the kid to make ready while she tried one of them. Ornery Riss transformed into slightly less ornery Riss right in front of the kids eyes as she flips on a jacket and puts a hand on his head before walking out toward Niall's office again.

After that, she'd make her way there with kid in tow. Arriving when she would, plenty of time for Niall's chat.

Ser Keyhote arrived neither late nor early but precisely when Sando intended him to.


"Now this...this is a classical castle. Take heed Pantha, you will not find a location any more Alderaani than this!"
The squire looks around and obediently does take notes.
"It's real swish this is, musta a cost a lot."
"Oh Pantha, a noble never discusses anything so crude as money...at lost not in public. But yes, you are observing the product of centuries of wealth accumulation. Why, it makes a humble Hutt feel at home."

And then the two were off to meet the Organas about the Organa

He gave Niall a look and said, "Enough, were true. Your wayward uncle is not a name to admire. He is a cautionary tale at best."

"I see." Niall said, frowning. After a few moments, he sighed. "I suppose we'll see. But he still was an Organa, and this boy he adopted would be as well, by my accounting."

"Do you know how many would be Organa's I have to sort out in a given year?" he said with sigh.

"No matter, send them in and let's get this sorted."

"Very good." Nodding, Niall opened the human-sized door, ready to admit human-sized people.

Riss was in first, "Hey," she furrows her brow, a brief smile, ".. you," she says, giving a wave toward Niall but glancing around for T7, she liked that droid. Still, as she did she stepped aside first for the kid she had in tow, the man of the hour, the actor on his stage.

The Duke was seated behind his desk, he eschewed smiles for a stoic but stern glare. He rose to his feet and said, "Welcome, please come in."

He did not show mirth or amusement.

"Umm hello..." he said keeping his eyes down.

Niall gave the lad a nod. "Go ahead, Vaki. Tell him what you told me."

The story came forth and Rhys listened unmoving and then when it was done he tapped his desk lightly before he said, “Hand me the ring.”

Vaki complied and Rhys said, “Do you understand what this ring truly means young man?”

Vaki shrugged and shook his head no. Rhys placed the ring on the desk and said, “My son believes in your story, he trusts you. If you were an Organa your actions would reflect on him, on me, and every member of this family that holds claim to the name. It is not a privilege, it is not a reward, it is a responsibility to Alderaan and the Galactic Republic.”

“This is the ring of my brother, my father gave this to him when we were boys. It was supposed to represent our dedication and service to our family. He squandered that and brought shame to us. Niall, I would hear your thoughts on the matter before I make my decision,” he said still looking stern now holding the ring once more.

Niall nodded. "My father is right. It is this responsibility that compels us to offer you this choice. Being an Organa, a noble of Alderaan, means owing a debt that you can never repay. I could not be where I am today without the work of so many sentients, many of whom are no longer with us." Niall briefly bowed his head. "How can I discharge my duty to them? Only by going on, as long as I can."

He looked at the father, than back at the youth. "I think we should see to his needs either way. We can't make this a choice between responsibility and being destitute."

"Whatever you decide we can make sure you get a roof, food, and a small stipend to get settled. By the looks of you, a proper education may be in order as well," Rhys said.

Amid the moment Riss very casually gives the kid a nudge to the back of his shoulder, a flash of a small if he turned to look at her. Not keeping his attention she'd nod forward to have him set his eyes straight again.

"Yes, sure... yes," the kid replied.

"Well then, Niall he's your responsibility now," Rhys replied. He pushed the ring across the desk. Vaki picked it up.

"Alright..." Niall gave the kid a smile. "Come along then. We'll find you a room, and then talk about being an Organa."

He looked at the others. "Ah... your friends can join us, if they wish."

"Only if the kid still wants me around. Always happy to share a bit of advice, few words, hang out," she chuckles, giving him a glance. "You've got my commcode right Vaki?" she asks.

Arms laying onto her hips she leans more onto one leg than the other, "Otherwise.. I'll go enjoy myself at the festival some more."

Keyhote's massive head fills the tiny door frame
"Love has triumphed once again! A prodigal son returns, a family is broadened and the cause of justice is sated. Oh and all during the festival as well, it enough for one to shed tears of joy."
Which he is, with gusto.
