Baesal complied and imagined the lake she had explored with her submarine

"He use to speak of water in a similar fashion. He likened it to emotions. A fitting metaphor I found. Tears stem from our emotions. We describe grief as emanating from 'wells of sorrow.' We describe anger as stormy. And passion, or really pleasure. Well..." She smirks.

"Look at me Baesal."

She breathes and shakes her head. Once Baesal opens her eyes she continues.

"My master had a lesson for 'Mastery of Water' as well. He said, 'If you fight the current you'll be pulled out to sea. If you try to ebb the flow you'll exhaust yourself. So instead lay back and float. Surrender yourself to it and the force.'" She grinned, "I was a smartass. I said, 'But master isn't that the same as letting your emotions get the better of you?'"

She looks at Baesal curiously, "I wonder if you know the answer. What does it mean to let your emotions get the better of you? What would that look like?"

''The way I see it there are two ways you can get your emotions take control of you, running away from them or letting them swallow you...the former often leads to the latter.''

She paused

''The former is like closing a door on a room with a leaking faucet or a fire in a paper basket...you can forget about it for a time but the elements will continue and grow until it is a problem you can't ignore and by that time it might be too late to save yourself or your house. I'd say that the latter is more difficult to allegorize because each emotion could be portrayed differently.''

[Breela Po]

Breela purses her lips, "In a sense, I suppose that might be a way in which they get the better of you, or foil you. The conscious choice to ignore your emotions until they overwhelm. That might well have been my downfall had it not been for you, Thy, Omandri..."

She smiles, "Well done. Now we circle back to pride." Breela stands up and walks around the fire to where the fire-safety bucket was. "And in my Master's example, that looks like this." She takes the bucket of water and furiously douses the campfire she had kindled moments before hand. Then haphazardly throws the bucket aside.

Baesal tilts her head in confusion

"I don't think I understand the symbolisme here"

[Breela Po]

"No?" She mused. "Then let me ask you this. Do you not feel as though you've been unjustly singled out? That others are free to scheme, plot, and undermine everything you sought to accomplish?" Breela moves back towards Baes. "And your sisters, your brother. That they don't make moves to understand your feelings? They don't open up a dialogue? Is that not frustrating?" She asks honestly.

"Speak Baes, I'm listening."

She sighs,

“Your feelings have been leading you around by your beautiful Montrals, and it has to stop. Your judgement has been clouded. You probably don’t even realize that your voice became raised earlier when you were speaking to Thy.”
