Aurilie would at least attempt to defend her creation, she had enough pride to stand up to the monstrosity she had a hand in indirectly creating. "...Yes, I believe this might actually an ancestral recipe, perhaps one practice by the predecessors of House Alde long before the founding of Alderaan. They say that such sweets are actually a test of character and helped enrich the body to stave off illnesses during the colder months of the year. Now that we know that it doesn't actually possess such medicinal properties...it probably continues to exist as a set piece for a simpler time when medicine was thought to be found in sweets."

Bran had noticed the reaction to the fruit cake that had arrived and, with a very thoughtful look on his face, set upon a bit of a rehabilitation project.

"Baroness Thul, my apologies for interrupting," Bran catches her attention. "Did you bring a lot of ice cream," he asks, casting a glare at the offending baked good. "If I might requisition some for a, um, intervention?"

Then he would approach a key part of his plan...

"That's very interesting, Lady Alde," the Ulgo man approached quietly. "Would you or your ancestors be offended by a suggestion for an... evolution of this treat?" Bran smiles very friendly, hoping to be of help to everyone -- especially the children.

Gil had perked up a bit at the mention of ice cream, but he hadn't made it that direction. There was likely plenty, and if there wasn't....

Well he'd brought his knife.

Breela was never much of a cook. That was always her husband's domain. But in the spirit of the event she tried her hand at making some non-alcoholic Tiramisu for the kids. It turned out better than expected. However being the lush that she is, she also kept some adult samples for herself and anyone who asks.

It took the Count a moment to oversee the preparation, but he arrived with pastry made to neatly resemble the most popular children's treat on Serenno: Mantero croissants! Which were a a cross-over between a moon cake and a croissant, giving it a spiral form, them inheriting the goodness of the filling from both.

"This is something my favorite cook used to make...I believe she was from Onderon? I hope it's going to be okay. It's a bit...sweet."

Garth's ears perked up at mention of his home world of Onderon, and the offering smelled divinely perfect.

It took some time, but Blai finally arrives with a tray full of some aromatic sweets half-wrapped in leaves.

The treats themselves seemed... simple, at first sight. But what initially might look like simple Alderaan sweet corn cakes was carefully wrapped in a fine layer of coarse tapioca flour pancake, and covered with elaborate decorations with fruits, flowers, spices and smeared honey, and the different odours coming from the cakes were very intriguing. After a bite, one would notice the cakes were also filled with pieces of the same fruit and spices that decorated the top of each sweet.



Five different types of cakes were on display, using fruits, spices, flowers and types of honey from Alderaan but also different parts of the Galaxy - some gathered in the wold, some found in the Royal Flower Gardens, some procured in stores:

- A 'Core worlds' version with Jogan fruit, traditional in the Core Worlds and Alderaan itself, seasoned with an Alderaanian spice much like cardamom pods, decorated with Alderaanian fire lily petals and sweetened with native honey;
- An "Outer rim" flavour with exotic Eugenia pyriformes fruit from a tropical world as filling, seasoned with small amounts of ground Dipteryx odorata seeds, decorated with Kuanian Shimsa flower petals and sweetened with honey from another Outer Rim world;
- One of two "mixed" versions with Outer Rim Theobroma grandiflorum seasoned with Alderaanian Lavender, decorated with Honeyblossom flowers and sweetened with Akivan lavender-honey liquor;
- Another "mixed" version with Myrciaria fruit from a tropical Outer Rim world, seasoned with traditional Core Worlds spearmint, decorated with Bellassan Dew Flower petals and sweetened with honey from that world;
- And... a sweet and sour version with Passiflora edulis, or Purple passion fruit, decorated with petals from Purple passion flowers and sweetened with honey from the same flowers, seasoned with ground Cyperus articulatus leaves, reportedly originally from an Imperial jungle world.

Seeing all the others already offering and partaking in a variety of other sweets, he left his tray to be sampled with a wide smile, and waited to see how well they would do - and if it might catch Jameela's attention... or the others'.

Jameela walked around trying to help everyone get settled as she ate the sweets that Galen gave to her... stupid evil Galen... but she ate it, for the children.

Then more arrived and of course she needed to sample them to better organize them.

Breela smiled watching the princess and Galen. Then she saw Alysele and waved.

"Ohh my, that looks quite good lady Alysele." Breela tried the sample and gained five pounds. "You know the thought occurs to me that I'm here as your guest and yet we've barely said two words to each other. How have you been fairing?"

Jameela walked around trying to help everyone get settled as she ate the sweets that Galen gave to her... stupid evil Galen... but she ate it, for the children.

Then more arrived and of course she needed to sample them to better organize them.

Seeing Jameela again with eyes set on Galen, and him happy besides her, he felt something akin to jealousy... but also something else.

They did make a cute couple. Both of them...

He shook his head. Maybe she'd still find some time for him, or for his carefully crafted treats, at least.

For now, he focused on helping and serving the children. They seemed to like the sweet corn cakes a good deal alright! Probably wouldn't know where each thing came from, what they were, or what they might mean. But their appetite and smiles made him quite cheerful!

"These are delicious, Lord Frayus," she said putting one in her mouth. "The children will love them."

"THank you Breela! It's something from my childhood." Aly shrugged. "We have been busy, unfortunately. I am glad to hear you managed to open your gym. I really should visit some day. How have you been?"

"Keeping myself busy." She grinned. "It's come a long way since it was a warehouse I'd be glad to have you stop by. In fact I'm trying to convince more weapons users to stop in. I even ordered a box of wooden sabres and knives for advanced instruction purposes. That's next weeks class though." Breela parsed out two servings of her dessert and grinned. "This is fun! A nice wholesome break to the flip side of a romance festival."

Nudimsu eyes gazed at the princess as she wandered around to try all the pastries that have arrived...minus that one with the fruit baked in (humans seemed to want to avoid that one, for some reason). She seemed eager to try out all of them. The heat of her face gave off some sort of impression of how happy she was to be here today, more so than the other events.

There was a doubt starting to form within him about how much of this was for the intended guests.

I suppose all things are supposed to improve and advance at some point in time. I'd like to imagine that over time, preservation and refrigeration improved enough and my ancestors didn't have to rely on drying everything. Eventually, fresh fruits must have been used, personally, I prefer that more."

After a beat, she introduced herself formally. "And, yes, good afternoon, Baroness Thul and Ser Ulgo. I am Aurilie Alde, Prince of Mount Joral."

Aurilie perked when someone else approached her regarding her unforeseen creation, giving a proper bow to the gentleman and baroness. She would tolerate handling the fruit cake a little longer before passing it off to the nearest servant so that she could potentially put the chapter behind her.

"Thank you, Ser Ulgo," she would say in return while giving a small bow with her arm momentarily placed behind her during the gesture. "Not at all. I suppose all things are supposed to improve and advance at some point in time. I'd like to imagine that over time, preservation and refrigeration improved enough and my ancestors didn't have to rely on drying everything. Eventually, fresh fruits must have been used, personally, I prefer that more."

"I would suggest, to make your treat more accessible to the children, that slicing it to a medium thickness and serving the slices with slightly melted ice cream -- the cake will moisten as it absorbs a bit of the ice cream -- might be well received. Kids love finger food, right? Well, cake that you can dip in ice cream... I think it'll be a winner." He smiles, a bit mischievously. "Maybe a bit on the messy side, but..." Bran shrugs. "A little collaboration here with the Baroness' fine ice cream supply could be most productive."

"Ah, indeed, Baroness Thul. Pew, pew, away," she would say in return, although she wasn't entirely sure what she was getting at. Having arrived late, Aurilie probably had some catching up to do with her sugar content.

"Of course, Prince Alde," he says, using the formal title to match her style.

"Ah, I've never thought about that. I admit that I've never given the combination a try. It's a little bit of dessert alchemy, I would say, and perhaps the sort of modernization that this ancient med-...treat needs." She nodded in approval at his suggestion and turned to the Baroness beside them with a small smile. "I'd be willing to collaborate and make this combination happen. I'm sure young children are willing to try anything with enough ice cream added in."
