[D7, EE] Feels Like The First Time

She reinstalled it into the slot in her armor; then activated it just as a little test run.

"...I still can't believe I'm actually using a shield like you tried to get me to use back on Bankor. Although... not the same thing I guess."

Of course, she also had a shield remote, so she was doubling up on the shields in a manner of speaking.

''I honed my craft through the years and through the Force'' she replied with a grin but then the chiss asked and odd question

''Gifts? It is fairly common to show appreciation but not necessarily wealth. Usually it is meant to show effort...time and care choosing the gift is far more important then the monetary value.''

There were several blinks from his him as he stared at Layne. "What is what for?"

He stared for a moment longer and sighed.

"Suppose the reason I am asking is because I have found myself under some previously unknown social obligation to give a gift to the Princess and your former colleague, Lana, and it made me start thinking of the act of gift giving in general within human mating rituals. I am not trying to mate with anyone at this time." Even if a small part of him wouldn't complain if it occu--No.

He then turned to the one. "Time and effort are still a commodity, Baesal, and thus show worth and have value. Either way, it still goes to my point of it all being a gamble in the early stages."

[Baesal Zyn]

''Not really. There are things we can assume...'' she frowns ''...for Lana...have you tried a weapon?''

[Nudimsu]

"Assume what?" He looked at her curiously. "I assume you mean a calculated gamble based upon the knowledge of the person in question. I'm not suggesting how to figure out if a person will like the gift, moreso if the gift will bring with it the intended outcome of potential mating."

He nodded at the suggestion and considered it for a few moments."I do not wish to invest in this further than social norms dictate, and a weapon under my budget that she would likely not use would seem rather too much. Not to mention the palace is in a heightened security position; may not be wise to walk around with a rifle with a bow on it. Though, a good option I will keep in mind should I find myself in this position again with her."

''If she's a warrior first then she might appreciate something useful...unless you want to go the romantic route? Why not something useful and pretty?''

[Nudimsu]

"I already have a such a thing in mind, that does not concern me much now." Clothes were tactical and would allow her to enjoy the sun more.

"Not do I have any intention to romance her, though. Merely fulfilling social obligations." Though if she were to like it, he would not find that a terrible outcome.

It did seem that the Jedi were not the right people to discuss this.

[Layne Hoshin]

Layne was listening to all this, rather incredulously.

"Don't encourage him to try dating a Sith Lord, Baesal."

[Nudimsu]

"Is there a problem with doing so?" He asked rather curious. "She seemed rather logical than most I have met. Less emotional from what I have seen other Jedi, for that matter. I understand that you have your problems with one another, of course, but your two organizations are no more different than binary stars, so you would naturally push off one another."

He paused. "Again, I am not interested, but as a former Sith you would have some perspective, Layne."

[Layne Hoshin]

She sighed.

"You seem too... no, you know what. I shouldn't judge and get in the way I guess."

[Nudimsu]

"Judge what?" There was a really long look on him. "Speak your mind, please. You have allowed me to do so, I will let you do the same."

[Layne Hoshin]

"I just..." she sighed. "...can't trust a Sith. Take it from someone who knows. But who knows, maybe you'll be the one to turn her around."

[Nudimsu]

Do cordial gifts have that sort of power? He was rather stunned at the implication that would hold to his decision. He better not make any unwise purchases, then. No wonder humans invested so much interest in these things. They could change outcomes.

"Nor do I, but then again, I hardly trust anyone." He nodded and looked at them. "Suppose, then, I won't know what will happen until I give the gift."
