It was clear they were trying to be taken in alive and captured, which wasn't going to happen. Still, he was not a vicious bloodthirsty Chiss. Many Chiss preferred to capture their foes, and he could do so in turn. Plus, more of a headache to deal with dead military people. "Have a firing solution. Taking it." And then he unleashed hell upon the flying ships. The first shot immediately shoots off the wing of one of the secondary ships, causing them to spin out into space. May be a little sick for the spinning, but he'd likely live.
The second shot was not as precise, since it was a lot of strain to take in, but he managed to get in another solid hit. Bit sweaty after all of that happening, but he could keep going. Not going for the kill shots made this a little bit more challenging, but it was the right call.
