Day 7 EA: The lady in red

Baesal presented herself to the gates of the house of Rist in her jedi robes with an air of calm about her. She did not risk setting this meeting too much in advance because she knew Bryson might hear of it and try something: She suspected he did his best work prepared.

''Good afternoon. Is Duchess Giandra Rist availlable for an impromptu discussion?'' she asks the guards

The house guards looked at each other and then shrugged and brought yet another Jedi before the Duchess in her court. She was seated on her throne and gestured for Baesal to approach and said, “Good afternoon master Jedi, House Rist should build a wing for you Jedi, we have had so many visitors.”

[Baesal Zyn]

The knight smiles politely

''Good afternoon Duchess Rist. While we certainly would appreciate the gesture I doubt your lordship would appreciate all the preaching that will likely follow.''

She bows

''Thank you for receiving me on such sort notice''

[Dapper Dog]

“At east you have better manners than Layne, what did you need from House Rist?” she asked.

[Baesal Zyn]

''Bryson Rist, your ladyship.'' came as the reply ''We need to converse with him for we have strong suspicion that he is involved in the conspiracy and terrorist organization known as the Star Cabal as well as their activities.''

[Dapper Dog]

“You just spouted a lot of nonsense, and if you are looking for Bryson, he is offworld on a task for me , personally. I have never heard of this Star Cabal, and our spies are some of the best in the Republic. I’ll humor the Jedi Order, but if they lay a hand on Bryson, we will do everything in our power to make sure your Order regrets it. I have known Bryson a long time, and frankly you Jedi have not been impressing me much,” she responded.

[Baesal Zyn]

''We will take this threat under advisement'' she replied, not dropping her smile.

She tilted her head

''How long have you known him your ladyship? Did he figure out how your sister managed to fake her death yet or how she is plotting against the crown?''

[Dapper Dog]

“Long enough to trust him,” she said.

“He’s a computer analyst, not an investigator or a field agent, so I would not expect him to do those things. He analyzes data and slices computer systems, if you must know.”

[Baesal Zyn]

''We do know'' she replied calmly ''Since he managed to slice the order's commlinks it would be odd not to. He certainly tried to have us believe that House Thul was responsible but he fell quite sort.''

She frowned a little

''Oh, you forgot forgery. Bryson seems to be quite apt at forging evidence to incriminate House Thul is various way. Did he do that under your orders Duchess? Or must we understand he acted independently on this one?''

[Dapper Dog]

"Is there a point to this meeting or you just here to make claims and expect me to suffer these indignities?" she responded.

[Baesal Zyn]

''Are you thus unaware of these actions?'' She asks seriously ''My apologies if these come across as slander. I have no personal qualms with your house but there are many things that does not quite add up.''

She folds her hands inside the sleeves of her robe

''For one I find it odd that uncouth and unimpressive, your words, Knight Hoshin managed to unearth a conspiracy in three days that your House failed to notice in eight years. That is a serious blemish on the reputation of House Rist whom you boast to have some of the best spies in the Republic...especially since she was accused of that murder...but understandable if some of these spies do not work entirely for you.''

''What is undeniable is that a conspiracy is at work here Duchess: one that involved both your sister and Galen Rist...is it far fetched to think others might be involved, if only tangentially? I am quite aware that such things can be incredibly damaging for the reputation of House Rist and that you are duty bound to defend against any harm that comes to your family but I am here to help. I am a neutral actor in this game of thrones and I have no reason to act for House Thul: My sole interest is the people of Alderaan and it's peace. Peace that is being threatened by a third party that has quite a reach.''

She paused

''Like I said I am here to help...but for that we will need to cooperate and exchange information.''

[Dapper Dog]

“You can’t solve a problem if you don’t know it is a problem. We had no reason to believe otherwise,” she said to the Jedi.

She leaned forward and said, “I am not sure what you want from me, and I have yet to hear anything worthy of me turning on someone who has been loyal to me since as long as I can remember. If he is lying to me, he won’t live long.”

“But that is internal business, as it stands I have things to do master Jedi, good luck on your investigation,” she said rising and starting to leave the room.
