[D0 Morning] There's no Place Like Home (Rist Estates)

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri sighed deeply and sat in a chair "dammit sis I'm a doctor not a private I." He said slightly exasperated "but if that's what it takes to avoid this folly then I guess it's what I have to do."

He shook his head a little bit "Enough politics then, believe it or not I didn't come here to fight with you." He said looking up with a rueful smile "Are you going to turn off the dutiful house lead switch and take some time to enjoy the festival? Or will it be all work the whole time?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Why else would I ask you to come back here,” she gestured before pouring them both a stiff drink.

“It’s hard to turn off, even around family. Especially around family.” She then offered him a drink.

[Omandri Rist]

"And here I thought it was because you missed your dear younger brother more than you could bear." he said with mock offense as he took the drink with a nod of thanks.

at her second words he frowned slightly but creased with more concerned than disagreement "You know I'm not like most around, not jockeying for position or looking for weaknesses. Despite our disagreements I do care about you." he took a sip and then grinned a little "besides what better place to finally find a dashing noble to wed if not the festival of romance."

[Dapper Dog]

"I didn't mean you specifically," she said with exasperation.

"There will be plenty of dashing people at the festival, take your pick."

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri rolled his eyes a little "I know you didn't mean me specifically but I was just letting you know if you needed someone to talk to you can trust me. Force forbid I point it out."

"And I wasn't thinking for myself sis, I don't think I'm ready to put down roots yet, but rather for you. Surely you don't plan on being married to the work forever." He said with a slightly mischievous grin

[Dapper Dog]

“Marriage is politics, romance is a whole different thing, and I am not married to the work but I am not sure I really feel like settling down. Rank has its privileges. Why, you know of anyone I should be looking at since you seem so invested?” she responded.

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri snorted lightly "I haven't been on this planet for six years Giandra, I hardly know the state of the dating scene around here these days." He said taking another sip

"And of course I'm invested, I worry you work too hard. You always had a tendency to get very invested in your work." He said with a small smile.

[Dapper Dog]

"Well there is a lot of work to do," she responded with a laugh.

"Someone had to pick up your slack."

[Omandri Rist]

He waved a hand dismissively "Oh Giandra that's hardly fair. I was never meant for the family business. You were the one that got all the cut throat ruthlessness and drive to do mom proud." He said with a light tone as he took another sip of the drink.

"I would have made a terrible field agent and we both know it."

[Dapper Dog]

"You can do other work outsides mortality, you know," she said encouragingly.

[Omandri Rist]

Omandri smiled "I'm aware sis, I've been doing it. Or you suggest what? staying here and patching up field agents? Or using my medical knowledge to produce new and exciting poisons to better eliminate our targets?"

he took a longer drink and exhaled "I don't really see what place a pacifist doctor has here in the house of Knives and Secrets."

[Dapper Dog]

"Medical personnel are always needed for the agents, for anyone. We can easily find a place for you, unless you have a moral stance against helping our honorable agents," she countered.

"Open a practice and help the people, I don't know. Make a difference here instead of wandering the galaxy, or help our operations on Delaya."

[Omandri Rist]

Omamdri swirled his drink a little and looked into it "ahh I don't know, here on Alderaan most people are well taken care of. I feel like I can do more good out there. Serving communities that don't have access to the kind of health care Alderaanian citizens get. I mean I was able to help a under developed community that was being ravaged by Typhus Fever. We've had a vaccine for that for damn near a century but those people had never heard of it. Less than a week with them and I was able to save hundreds of lives."

He leaned back in the chair "I just, I don't think I'll be able to do stuff like that sitting around here or even Delaya."

[Dapper Dog]

"You're a Rist you can't run from that," she replied and then sat down with a heavy sigh.

[Omandri Rist]

"So because I'm a Rist I need to sit around here treat broken arms and Blaster holes. Wait until you find a nice political match for me so I can get married and spend my life in service to the house?" He took a drink "a very attractive offer that."

[Dapper Dog]

"The family needs you," she said honestly.

[Omandri Rist]

"The house seems to be doing fine, even flourishing, since I left. Why does it suddenly need me now?" He asked with a skeptical eye.

[Dapper Dog]

"Really... family needs a reason?" she sighed and finished her drink.

[Omandri Rist]

"On Alderaan it usually has one." He said finishing his own drink "it just seems very sudden that you need me."

[Dapper Dog]

She sighed and said, "Your old room is prepared if you want it. I have work to do."

Giandra departed.
