[Day 1 - EA] Queen's Protests

[Dapper Dog]

The crowd is chanting loudly at the gathered security personnel trying to keep them from blocking the walkway inside the spaceport.

“Free Alderaan from corruption, down with Panteer! Up with Ulgo!” is one chant.

Another goes, “We are not Imp Puppets!”

Many hold up signs both physical and digital and the crowd seems to number close to a hundred but thankfully the security seems capable of keeping them from getting too violent but tensions are running high.

A man held up a hydro-bullhorn and shouted, “Queen Solara Panteer has betrayed us! She puts the Imp puppets in control, just like they do in the Core! The Republic is just the Empire! They betrayed us and made peace with venomous dogs! The only way forward is to support Duke Ulgo! Secede from the Republic and go our own way!”

[Jameela Panteer]

Jameela gestured for the Queen's Guard to keep their distance while she observed the growing protest, she had no idea that people felt this way. Why? Didn't they understand that peace was in the best interest of the Republic?

Was she simply naive?

[Garth Wayne Ulgo]

Garth understood the desire of the young to be heard, to rail against the establishment. But to accuse the Republic of being just the same as the Empire was...offensive to his ears. So he puffed up his chest, adjusted his jacket and strode forward to the crowd that was blocking him from getting to his ship.

"Ah'm sure y'all don' mean what yer sayin'. Y'all know how pro-'public MAH FAM'LY is raht?" He tries to explain to help disperse the crowd as he identifies himself and his affiliation.

"We 'ppreciate th' support, but as an Ulgo, and a Republic Naval Off'cer, ah'd really like y' to consider how helpful this is t' our cause." He tilts his head to one side slightly. "Now ah'm Garth Wayne Ulgo, nephew to Bouris, who've ah got th' pleasure t' be addressing."

Although he's not sure how much of his words are drowned out by the chanting and yelling...

[Dapper Dog]

“Duke Bouris Ulgo is a man of the people and a hero! He bled for the Republic only to have the corrupt Senate bend over for the Empire! He would never stand for such weakness that’s why he challenges Panteer! Panteer is weak and are now toadies of the Empire!” he shouted back.

The crowd shouted, “Ulgo! Ulgo! Ulgo!”

[Archibald Serrus]

A young noble keeps his distance for now, simply trying to find those who aren't deep in the crowd to see if he could get a quick game of 20 questions out of them. His Muun assistant is nearby, frantically reading through a law review trying to learn whatever he could about current events to help Archie not embarrass himself.

Garth raises his arms above his head to try and garner some of the attention of the crowd as he engages the ringleader in debate.

"Ye'r right there son, Duke Ulgo be a champion 'f the people 'n a hero of the Red Winter. Now how many've ye future leaders've fought in a war? Ah'm sure y'all remember th' Red Winter, so tell me now y' prefer those days or these?"

"Peace 's never easy t' achieve, but is much bett'r th'n constant fightin'. Duke Ulgo knows this, all truly great heroes know when's time t' put down their guns. Ulgo bled f'r this planet, YOUR planet, f'r YOUR homes, 'n f'r YOUR lives, now trust us t' guide y' through these days 'f peace as well!"

[Nudimsu]

Nudimsu had gathered around to do some general prep for his ship, but there stood some people, clearly upset over the direction of their hosts. No big surprise, really. Humans tended to complain a lot about things they really couldn't comprehend. Though, then again, he was about as familiar with the Panteer's position on the Republic as he was with the Organa's. Vague at best. Still, that normally shirtless man was there, trying to calm the crowd and...that was what he sounded like? Did some set of humans actually have that sort of slur of words without consuming alcohol? Maybe he was drunk. Maybe there were just a lot of variety of humans and locations that could properly understand what was being said. Just sounded...so strange. Still, he was not the focus.

They were blocking his way to the Turtle, so all he could do is simply stare at them and glare as they took up his time, wasting everyone's time while he actually had something to do. He stood there not close enough to really get into it, but still looked rather annoyed at the crowd of people before him. The obvious solution would be to shoot one of them and make the rest scatter. Stun setting, of course. It wasn't his place to do such a thing, though. Make a mess of everything for Durasay, as well. He rubbed his temples staring at them and just looked for the opportunity to sneak into the hangar proper. Or maybe there would be a opportunity for him to assist the Ulgo in his task. He wasn't much a public speaker, but he was a lot smarter than them.

Perhaps a opportunity would arise in this situation to disperse the crowd or get thru without being accosted.

OOC: Average Leadership check to calm them, gain a setback for the protestors being angry.

It seemed like Garth's words were having some impact on the crowd, but there was an element that definitely took his approach better than others....

The crowd responded to Garth and found some truth to what he said and then one pointed at Jameela and said, “Hey look it’s the Imp lover! Like mother, like daughter!”

And then someone tossed a shoe at the princess!

OOC: It looks like violence could break out. The crowd is incensed now against the Princess due to the Threat!

[Brannis Ulgo]

Brannis joins his cousin, using the voice amplification from his Lector's Outfit to support the same general sentiment. Mostly he focuses on the ringleader, trying to gain Tuvi's attention for a more pointed discussion than he can have with the group.

"Friends, friends, hear me. You all know who I am..." he says, speaking expansively but putting extra time into looking square at Tuvi.

Kaleena stays behind him, looking on anxiously but standing closer to the princess and guards than the Ulgo men.

When he sees the shoe thrown, Bran immediately strides to pick it up, then brings it back to where he was speaking, trying to keep all attention on him.

"You all know what House Ulgo has fought for. Freedom from the empire. Safety for all Alderaanians. And this festival should be a celebration of what we have all won together. Alderaan is from not just because of my uncle, or me, but thousands upon thousands of Alderaanians who fought and bled and drove away our enemies!"

"Alderaanians, we have earned the freedom we enjoy during this festival. We must cherish it, celebrate it during these beautiful days, and," he raises the shoe above his head, "not be too quick to take anything from the people of Alderaan. They need us all, all our help to heal and recover and be greater than we were even before the vile sith invasion." He lowers the shoe with slow purpose as he concludes. "Let us bring all our focus to our glorious homeworld and our traditions, celebrate and give thanks for them this week. Next week, bring your concerns, all your energy, to meet with me in parliament. In the name of our honored fallen from the war, let us resolve things there, not in the streets, not throwing things."

Crowd control: 2 success, 1 threat

From the other side of the crowd, a noble approaches the center, his assistant running from it, and a cleared throat ready to project if needed. For now though, he makes certain to look around for signs of whoever is trying to pull out their weapons first.

[Nudimsu]

Oh great, it was looking like he calmed it down and now it was starting to get worse. And now we have fuel to the fire with...someone who they all knew. Looked important enough, maybe. He continued on watching, getting rather impatient at the crowd focusing on some woman. An Imp lover? Like mother? Must be the princess, then. Would make sense.

Nudimsu looked over at her, then to the finely dressed man speaking to the crowd. It wasn't the right opportunity for him to do something, but if these men fail, well, there was one thing he could do. Just better that they attempt to do it before he resort to something else. She was important to the mission they were here for, after all, and her being harmed by some emotional humans would not do them any good.

Brann calms the folks back down before the Queen’s Guard intervenes though someone in the crowd throws a rotten purple cabbage at the man and hits him right in the face as a parting gift.

The firebrand speaks up and says, “Hey we are under peaceful pretense, no violence! You made your point, but we won’t give up the fight until the Queen abdicates and gives the throne to Ulgo and we are free of Imperial oppression! Alderaan will be free!”

OOC: Threat earns him a vegetable to the face.

Seeing Bran had the crowd under control, Garth backed up slightly, nearer to the Princess, but still respectful of the perimeter her guards had established - just in case another piece of errant footwear took flight.

"They don' 'ppreciate just how much freedom they already got." He sighs audibly. "There's people 'n other systems ain't got the freedom t' speak open like that..."

Archibald moves closer to the man, looking to see if there will be further trouble and what the security forces do about this technical crime (simple assault)

[Brannis Ulgo]

Bran chuckles at the purple smear from one eye to the opposite cheek, raising his hand to hold Kaleena back as she got ready to go for the vegetable tosser. He flicks his outfit microphones off.

"Kaleena, please schedule a time for my new friend here," he says, tone carefully measured through every word, "to come to the office. We should talk about freedom for Alderaan. And not having Alderaan's veterans assaulted with produce, hm?" The smile that Bran gives Tuvi has a touch of warmth, but the great weight of it is a command that he will come and talk. He adds, a bit more warm and conspiratorial, "You wanna be a leader for freedom? Then you'll come talk to me."

Kaleena, eyes like daggers, steps up beside Brannis. "Since it's a priority for Lord Ulgo," she practically hisses at Tuvi, "call me directly to schedule. Personal comlink is fine, but only during business hours." Duty done, she waits to follow Bran, looking at Tuvi and any other protesters who lingered like she'd like to ride a herd of grazers over them.

[Dapper Dog]

"Yeah, no. If you want to speak to me then do so, I don't deal with lackeys. Otherwise we have nothing to talk about," he said in reply.

[Galen Sol]

Galen walked through the crowd, watching and listening. He wasn't sure what exactly was going on, but he wanted to understand. He caught sight of Garth and moved in that direction, but stayed with the crowd.

[Delmi Koor]

Delmi heard from a little bird that something like this gathering was taking place and so she found a way to be near the hubbub as it was starting.

She stayed quiet for the time being... watching what was going on in her casual uniform.
